  1. Haven't they demolished two sides of their ground for rebuilding?
  2. Groves was the supreme entertainer. He would often leave a full back on his arse, wait for him to get up and then beat him again. I remember us thrashing Huddersfield 6-0 and Grovesy beat half their team before smashing in an unstoppable shot from the corner of the penalty box. He had no right to score from there, but it was simply the sort of thing he did. IIRC we got promoted that day.
  3. Or the one at home to Preston that had that twat Westley stomping around like a basket case. Oh, sorry, he IS a basket case.
  4. I'll agree he's not the best keeper in the division, but I don't go with this "shit" opinion. Everyone loved him in the early stages of the season and, let's be honest, he pulled off some cracking saves to keep us in games. Compared to some of the crap we've had in the past, such as Brill, Miskelly, Blayney and, for God's sake, Budtz, Johny ain't that bad. However, I'll be happy with a new keeper. I said in another thread that Luke McCormick has been released by Plymouth. Would he do the job?
  5. Looking at that, he didn't palm one out. It was a header from about 4 feet away that he couldn't do much about other than just get in the way of it. There was no way he could have caught it or pushed it out of harm's way.
  6. Excellent news. Contrary to what some folk belief, he's been keeping fit and has turned out a number of times for Everton U23s. Get a good pre-season into him and we've got a cracking player. And, to be honest, I wouldn't be that upset to see Byrne go. We all know that Byrne can throw a hissy fit when things don't go his way and, while he is a very talented footballer, I'm not convinced he and Baxter can play together. Time will tell and we could end up with a midfield that tears League 2 apart, with or without Byrne. Baxter could be the perfect partner for McEleney if he hits the form he's supposed to have.
  7. Or a half decent business brain, which I reckon he has.
  8. He made Jan Budtz look better than average. What a clown. And what a nasty little shit Sergio Ramos is.
  9. Albert Rusnak playing for Salt Lake against Seattle. Co-commentator is Sam Parkin, who played a handful of games for us. He also commentates for Radio Wiltshire and Chelsea TV.
  10. Ah, speculation. Nothing concrete then as far as we know.
  11. I think that is the operative word. Neither the Trust, you, me, the tea lady or the kit man have a divine right to ask AL what his worth is or how much of his hard earned he's going to plough into the club. Let's wait and see what happens when players start moving in/out and see what we've got. That should be a decent barometer of where we are. So far, apart from rumours, there has been absolutely diddly squat to base very much on regarding his financial standing. And, exactly why must the Trust have some idea?
  12. What offers are these that we've turned down, then? I wasn't aware that anyone had made any bids yet. Sorry, mate, this doesn't make sense.
  13. Be a bit quicker with these and they don't leave as much "fertiliser" behind as cattle.
  14. Adam Collin and Jonathan Forte released by Notts County. No, I'm not suggesting we try to sign them.
  15. If Bryan were to come back, where would you play him? We've got Clarke, Gerrard, Edmundson and Stott for the CB slot, plus Hamer who can play there as well. Maybe that would allow Bryan to play left side of midfield. All pure conjecture, obviously, as we may never see him in a Latics shirt again.
  16. I thought Chelsea were an entertaining team last season, but the mind set changed this time.
  17. The burning question is, what would you do if you found it was true? Answers in a plain brown envelope, please. Think of the children.
  18. When was that? Even at full back, he's caught out of position too often, frequently the wrong side of the opponent, and doesn't have the pace to recover. Never a Premiership player imho, let alone an international.
