  1. Well, other than not going to games because they are not attractive enough, and going to other games beacuse they are, how else would someone be a glory hunter? If it's money, time, commitments; that's different. But just not bothering because it's Latics vs ......erm does it matter who it's "vs"? It's LATICS, that's who I support, Latics vs Donny, vs Everton, vs Crewe, vs Accrington. If it's at home, why should the oppo make a difference to a supporter. On the other hand, I haven't got the time and money to get to every away game, so I pick and choose based on opponents, distance and connections. But the money fr away games doesn't benefit Latics.
  2. Right, not done it yet, so here's my prediction: Can't see us getting anything from the game, I'm expecting a 3-0 defeat at least.
  3. When I read the first comment on this thread I assumed it was about the moaners on here after the walsall game, one even stated that shez was the worst manager we'd ever had! funny how some of them have then come on this thread slating people who moan?? Anyway, we're now on 1 defeat in 13 and we've got 19 pts from 10 league games. Happy days!
  4. 1. Well, you said there was no plan, and yet in almost every game we've had the bulk of the possession and the majority of the attempts at goal. 2. You can't count. We're 8 points off the play offs, 8 points from the bottom 4 and we've a game in hand on 9 of the clubs above us. This league doesn't have 30 clubs in it. 3. Your "ps" is really witty and pithy. Did you know that teams that don't shoot never win games?
  5. You'll find that on at least 20/23 club websites. The other 3 are those that came up. As for the plan - retain possession (60% yest), get more shots than the oppo (about 3-1 yest). Funny that we've had 6 wins and 5 draw, then we lose a game and we've got no plan, we're underachieving, shez is useless, the players are all clueless and inept, etc, etc, etc.... Says more about some fans than about shez or the team.
  6. Erm, last season shez was working on a reduced budget, certainly to start with. This season has seen plenty of players shipped out / gone - Wellens, Haining, Porter, Warne; all of whom will have been on decent contracts. I don't think TTA have splashed so much cash on wages that they can expect to see us go up, and we've certainly not been shown up by any team, home or away, bar 1 match, so the plan isn't that far off the mark.
  7. Er, don't judge everyone by your own standards. Mind you, if you need to suggest that sort of ignorance to show that you've got better judgement, then carry on. My kids had Wellens and Haining as their favourite players when they were macsots. How many did Haining score?
  8. Because if he'd run in to the space in front, challenging the full back, his defensive space would have been totally exposed and the winger would have an unchallenged run. He put long crosses in because he couldn't often make a pass down the line. erm, we'd miss him. just watch the way he brings the ball down. his control is very good, so he doesn't often end up having to recover from mistakes. Having said which, an offer of over £750k should be snapped up imo
  9. Maybe some people figure that latics get a fair chunk of the money for the everton game, but nothing for the leeds game? and leeds is away on new year, so people might have made plans to do other stuff (that they'd have not done/worked around if we were at home). £34 for me & my 2 to go to everton, latics will see £10 of that I'd guess £49 for me & my 2 to see Leeds - too expensive for me and latics get none of it. They might be in admin, but they are charging silly money.
  10. "an eight storey block at the bottom of your garden" erm, well, not actually 8 storey, actually a 3 storey block behind your garden, well, not actually behind, there will be a car park behind it, and then a 50 yd gap, then a 3 storey block. then behind that 4 storeys....blah. mind you there will be noise from comings and goings 20 hrs a day....apparently? erm, most of it will be residential, so you're stating that most residents are noisy 20 hrs a day? so is that based on the current residents in the area or is the development being aimed at semi-vampires or goths? oh, and the hotel, will that be for people who all want to pay for an overnight room but never use it? and a health club at 4.00am, that'll be busy? erm? Yes, I'll admit, the residents have complaints, but not legitimate, valid or reasonable ones. How many of them have added a consevatory or extension that has affected someone else? In fact I remember when it was only houses on broadway and my grandad lived there. Then they built all those eyesores they call hilbe ave / carlton way and the noise was constant, traffic went mad, it was a nightmare, bloody low class housing. They shouldn't be building residential properties anymore, it should have stopped in 1935. Sod the people, let them live on the streets. Never build anything new, ever. Stop the world! NOW!
  11. my mate could ID him if he sees him again, bit that's if he turns up, but to the guy who says he knows him but there aren't any seats behind him - that's the point, they weren't even kicking his seat, just empty seats, ok it's not a good thing to do, but they are just pre-teen kids messing about, what's worse, kicking a few seats or knocking the crap out of someone? if anyone knows who this thug is, let me or the club or GMP know or next time, if you do something he doesn't like, or if someone you're with, no matter what age does something he doesn't like , it could be you or someone you know. It's not as if my mate wasn't bothered about his kids - he'd gone over to tell them to behave and watch the game, but kids don't always want to sit with their dad. Hopefully his daughter (who saw the aftermath) will be coming on sat, but she'll be sitting with my 2 kids in the lookers upper instead of downstairs. it's knocked the crap out of her and her brother.
  12. Both my mate's kids saw him in that state - it's what bothers him the most - they now feel guitly for kicking empty seats, and one of them is saying they don't want to go to latics anymore. He's an ever present latics fan at home, kids both have STs. Don't know much about the culprit, waiting to see if he turns up on sat. Trouble is, until anyone can put a name to the face, the plod can't do a lot.
  13. The guy who got hit is a mate of mine, he might need witnesses to what happened. especially if anyone saw the thug follow him into the toilets under the lookers. if anyone can forward any details he'd appreciate it. or if you've got mates who were at the match, can you ask them if you can forward their details. I went round to see him yest, he's got a good few bumps and bruises, a big shiner, and is waiting for x-ray results on his nose. All because hs kids kicked empty seats, and he was actually going over to tell them to stop messing about. cheers.
  14. If anyone saw an argument between 2 Latics fans in the lookers paddock, near the disabled area, about 10 mins from the end last night, could they pm me? thanks
  15. Hamman went from liverpool to bolton and then to the council house on the same day didn't he?
  16. I think we need 1. car stickers, 2. posters, 3. A campaign leaflet, 4. Button badges? The campaign leaflet could focus on the myths that are being put out: e.g Larkin and Bashforth's 2000 cars Pendlebury's comments in the Grauniad about concerns about impats on schools - this was covered in the planning office stuff - they stated that TTA would have to pay a sum to cover the cost of this The 8 storey myths - when it's 3 storeys closest to housing, no higher than tesco in failsworth, and further away from the nearest houses (at a guess?) Bashforth's "I won't vote / rule" comments - but then he did bashforth's request for another traffic survey - did he just want to re-survey because the results didn't say what he wanted? the loss of space - perhaps a figure comparing the current space and it's state, then the proposed grass / landscaping / clough and the actual building land? it might also be worth trying to find out roughly when people have bought their houses near BP, as there have been plans for years (must be about 15 years now), so some wuill have bought knowing that it was likely. The leaflet could be done door-door by volunteers? Stickers, poster, badges at events? BP on match days, spindles, town centre - o/m, royton, shaw, failsworth etc? Maybe try pubs for posters too?
  17. I'm intending to go, but will have the kids with me likely as not - they won't fancy parking at BP, wlaking to oldham and then walking back to BP. Hoping I can turn up at Civic Centre, see what's going on and maybe then use the car to get to BP, hence: is there going to be a speech at the civic centre? It might be an idea to hold a speech at the end too? so those that cannot be there at the start can show support at the end, but it's probably too late to do this now?
  18. Is there any sort of schedule for the march apart from turn up at 12.45 for 13.00 start? anyone going to be doing a speech / rally the troops?
  19. LOL! Bet the drummer is A drummy mummy!
  20. He was DIRE. What's our most successful chant thesedays? Oh When the Blues..... Why did it never take off? Because the drummer has no sense of timing. He drums far too fast on everything and kills it all off. We were loud DESPITE the drummer not because of him. Thank god we can sing Oh When the Blues properly from the Lookers where we can't hear him.
  21. Anyone notice the bit about phasing the housing development to ensure that the resources generated are used to fund the development of the football ground (page 9, 4th para). A very sensible idea from the planning people there.
  22. Erm, that's not real. I'm real. He/she is the fake real.
  23. If it is the old villa one, then you can see it here: http://www.technographic.co.uk/history.htm
  24. Taylor has been "found out" in the sense that other managers have noticed that he needs close marking, with the oppo often doubling up their wide midfielder and full back on him when he gets the ball. The way to deal with this is to have a good full back behind him that can overlap, but neither charlton nor aljofree was pacy enough to do this, and the current choices aren't good enough either. Marc Tierney?
