    We have been grinding out decent results since January but for some reason I still have this feeling of dread when we play, the nagging doubt that we are good enough or will become good enough to rise out of this league. Don’t know if it’s the “method” style we play, the late goals we concede or a combination that has me constantly thinking after a win “were we lucky, we’re the opposition just so bad”.

    Just watch next week, scene already set, Southend cobbled together team, backs to the wall, survival at stake , we go with our new improved team , high expectations…. Shrimpers win it. Although, I actually think we are going to win

    I didn’t go today but think it would be safe to say it was a bit of a “ leveller”, if we needed one. DU got three more coming in he tells us. We start next Saturday so I’m hoping these additions are imminent, after all theres people desperate to sign for us … roll on the season proper so we can see what we are about

    Three more players wanted and DU has identified who he wants . Sounds really positive and moreover we are actually an attractive proposition again

    I don’t think Nuttall is shit, I’ve seen him play well but not often enough if I’m honest. I’m not sure he was any better than we already had at the time we signed him , but fondop was a bit up and down around then if I remember rightly. Yesterday was a fitness exercise but they need to be firing on all cylinders come august

    Yes, Nuttall had several good chances to score but hopefully he sharpens up in the coming games. Fondop linked up nicely with Reid I thought. Not really seen enough of Willoughby but I’m sure he will do a job although it might just be me but is he carrying a bit of weight ? overall we looked ok and for once everyone seemed to know where everyone else was.

    Good sharp first half, really like the look of Ward and Lundstram. Energy there between them. Fondop put himself about . Nuttall waits far too long to let go of a shot. We should have scored a fair few more but over happy

    I think this illustrates that we need them all, not too sure about Nuttall myself but there’s moments I wasn’t sure about Reid or Fondop either for a time, and even if Nuttall chips in with a couple of pivotal penalties then it can’t be a bad thing . I just hope the manager recognises the need to change things at the right time depending on who the opposition are and how they’re impacting us.

    I’ve not seen us yet but would like to think the players we’ve brought in will do a job for us IF played to their strengths. I still can’t figure out what the manager is trying to do sometimes but he’s the manager at the end of the day. We’ve got a very good squad in theory now, maybe another midfielder and obvs fullback but other than that we must be challenging up there this season, no excuses .

    He’s definitely insistent on playing a grinding, defensive game, which is fine if we come away with the points when we do it. A few games towards the end of the season back fired though and we conceded late on. There’s a lot more practice needed if he want to be successful with this method of playing . It’s certainly hard to watch but if it eventually gets us out of where we are then so be it.

    I would imagine so. He’s kind of turned into this sought after commodity since all this rumour started. I didn’t know who he was until the playoff final
