rudemedic
Challenges like Danny Guthrie's getting the same punishment as any other straight red card (although this may not be the case). Appealing earning you an automatic one game extra ban if still found guilty (should be on a case-by-case basis) The actual usefullness of St. John's ambulance Professional fouls/last men challenges in the penalty area getting a red card (the penalty is often the better option) Mandatory yellow cards for nothing offences (so if you have a yellow alreadys you get sent off- not always the case with yellow card challenges) Cynical play- both fouls and overacting The brandishing of imaginary cards not getting punished Prawn Sandwich fans The amount of corporate tickets availible for big games and competitions England's games at a stadium that no one north of Birmingham can get home from on a weekday night The obscene amount of coverage the Premier League big four get in the media compared to the rest of football Anyone not supporting a local team (either where they are or where they are from) Fat blokes that need two seats but only buy one Any ground poorly accessible by public transport Players earning more in a week than the average bloke earns in half a year (nevermind those earning more in a week than the average bloke earns in ten years) The going off when 'injured' Fans slow clapping someone who is legitimately injured Players rolling around like they've been shot when the oppo hardly touched them (and not getting punished) The 'Champions League' The inactive bit of the offside rule- as Bill Shankly said if they are inactive what are they doing on the pitch The advantage rule (make it like Rugby's) Dissent (make it like Rugby) Corporate 'partners' monopolys (I'm sure I'll think of some more)
Scapegoat
it's been called the Champions League since 1991, when they changed it to a tournament format, the 2nd placed teams came in around 1997, then 2 years later the 3rd and 4th teams came in. I'm all for maybe the top 3 in England because they would be up there as the best teams in the world but I think 4th is just a step too far as it has seen the demise of other Leagues across Europe which were once strong Ah. Thanks for that - I didn't know. Still it does seem a very inaccurate discription for what is now a glorified European super league with a qualification system designed to ensure the 'elite' always qualify and something that teams seem to want to qualify for more than they want to win a domestic cup. losesome
What I also find annoying about this competition. It used to be called the European Cup, and was only open to teams that had won their national league i.e were the domestic Champions. They changed it so teams finishing 2nd, 3rd and now 4th play in it. So obviously that was the time to re-name it to Champions League. How did they work that one out? This has developed because the powers that be desperately want a european league . We would have had it years ago but there is only one big drawback to it- relegation. They still can't come up with a way to apply relegation which is one of the fundamentals of any league. If they could we would have a european super league. This format is the nearest thing they can get to it.
Blue-Mist
Ronnie Moore Adrian Littlejohn Overpriced warm piss at away games for double the normal price of a pint Ridiculous shirt tugging at corners - particularly in Greedy League - send the feckers off - will soon stop it Rooney, Terry and other big time charlies continually f'ing and jeffing at refs and getting away with it Players who dive and writh around like theyve been shot and when ref waves play on, spring straight up and get on with it (wilbraham on sat - needless and pathetic) Over zealous stewards - standing up at footie is natural ! All seater identikit stadiums - souless morgues draining the life and soul out of grounds Ridiculous car parking charges at most grounds Shorter odds at the Latics bookies then you get in your local betting shop 'Stand up if you love Oldham' - grow up !!!! 'No surrender to the IRA' wtf ?????????????? Celtic Latics corners - just when will Lidds launch one into the box onto Greegs head ??? No alcohol on coaches to away matches (well, officially !! ) The price of footie to regular fans Ridiculous wages paid to thickaspig:censored: 'stars' in greedy league so they can buy all those essential ferraris and racehorses Ronnie Moore again !!! Scapegoat
Media continually mis-reporting the great youth development system at Man City that has produced home grown talents such as Micah Richards. Meeting a new football fan (non local) who upon mentioning you support Oldham immediately mentions THAT goal. THAT goal. Media that state clubs like Leeds need to get back where they belong - you belong in the league you play in, that's how the system works. Fans that seem to be obsessed with a p*ssing contest of 'we've got more fans' rather than the important bit of what is on the pitch.

Agree with pretty much all of that - but it's a fact that Micah was only with us for a short time only, and we did very well to get such a strong deal for him from the Big Top owners of the day. yarddog
diving in penalty areas is most annoying, even if its one of your own players. And referees that think its compulsary to add at least 4 minutes stoppage time even if no trainer has been on, and were winnig 1-0.
level42
The rule where a penalty is given and the player (last man) committing the offence is sent off automatically. To me a penalty and a booking is more than sufficient

No significant / obvious incidents in the first half = 1 minute. Same in the second inevitably = 3 minutes. I sure there must be some nerdy stats on this somewhere. OK you get more subs in a second half, but still it seems weighted to the 2nd half. Doesn't annoy me, just an odd fact/theory.
