Season tickets...

Recommended Posts

I think someone needs to look at a dictionary mate. Student comes from the word 'study' and i am studying at A level therefore am a student...

What would you say someone in my educational catergory should be classed as?

bloody hell, you arent even at uni!

when i studied a levels i had 3 jobs and not a single direct debit to my name. suddenly it all becomes clear....

(i agree you are still a student. i work at a school and we call the kids from 7 to sixth form students....people assume you are at uni when you use the word student these days)

I don't buy all this "can't afford it" sh1te...

If people can't afford a season ticket, they can't afford to go shopping, go to the pub, pay for petrol, and pay for general living costs.

It's not a life-changing amount of money you have to pay, its much less than a weeks wages!

I could afford a season ticket, I just didn't want to buy one again.

Yes, I understand that...but surely after them bills theres some spilling over into your bank which would cover the season ticket once a year?!

You cant be telling me that them bills cover every penny of your income...

And I got myself a part-time job and do private music lessons. Why?

Putting things into perspective at the end of the day, Latics is an add on. Some people have differing priorities with wages.

Not everybody has that amount of disposable income and when you are unemployed, every penny counts.

National Minmum Wage = £13,000

Take home pay = £10,893.65

Yearly rent / mortgage = £400 x 12 = £4800

Gas / Electricity = £60 * 12 = £720

TV License = £142.50

Council Tax = £750 (single person discount applied)

Food = £60 * 52 = £3120

Telephone = £10 * 12 = £120

Broadband = £20 * 12 = £240

Mobile = £20 * 12 = £240

Travel to work (bus pass) = £15 * 52 = £780

Total = £10,912.50

Leaves you with a debit....oh dear...

Add a kid into the mix.... maybe a car...

Wakey Wakey Mr Student :)

*I know the numbers are not rock solid, some guess work*

Leaves you with £2087.50 / 12 = £173 a month for anything else....

I see you've used the National MINIMUM wage to make your point more valid! lol.

Whats that, binman? Street cleaner?

PLUS the majority have a partner especially if theres a kid there too...so surely that doubles(ish) it...

I would say a very hefty majority of our fan base...

Ok, stick it up to £15k which is probably more average...

Thats gives you £12,273.65 take home pay...

What salary would you like me to use in the exampel ?

Heck I earnt well over the higher tax bracket this year and I find myself questioning if its "worth" it, my mortgage and living expeneses are miles higher than the numebrs above, god knows how people do it who earn less.

I'm a student and have bought a season ticket...

It saddens me that in a town of what, 200,000? people...a pathetic 2,500-3,000 season tickets are bought for the towns club.

Sure they're not cheap for what you get...but your not going to get anything if people aren't going, because there won't be a club!

ARGH! :ranting:

Southamptons population is around 220,000 and they have sold 9,700 season tickets. An increase on the number sold last season.

Some people can afford to go latics.

Some people can't really affford it but drop something else in order to go.

Some people can't afford to go and can't drop anything to go there.

This is the way the world works...if we could all easily afford to go...I'm sure the 4500 would have been met, meaning 70 quid back in our pockets. Maybe we'd have more and be able to have more than the reported 10 grand wage budget we currently work on.

Oldham's population isn't 220k....it's just over 100k....the population of the entire Borough is said to be around 220k but that's including areas like Failsworth, South Chadd and Saddleworth where a lot of people don't identify with Oldham or it's football team.

OK, Southampton is twice the size of Oldham. Yet they've sold 4 times the number of season tickets.

Maybe, but I'm sure that's to the detriment of the massif clubs on their doorstep.

oafc lover is getting some unfair stick in my opinion. All I think he is saying is that if people wanted to go enough they could do, and in the majority of cases I'd be inclined to agree with him. I think most people feel it's too expensive as opposed to not being able to afford it - there's a subtle difference.

A school boy ;-)

(And one that also has not learnt to use a dictionary when needed :-) )

Don't forget, this is the worst recession since the 1930's.

is it? The one in the 80s seemed worse (well it did here anyway - Boys From The Blackstuff might as well have been a documentary)
