Squad Complete?

Recommended Posts

Do you think our squad is now more or less complete or will there still be more arrivals?

In my humble opinion, i believe we still need to bring in another specialist centre back, Someone who is aware of what is going on around them, especially at set pieces. Once again we conceded two sloppy goals from corners, we seem to have had this problem for ages now. i don't know if it's a lack of concentration or the players just not up to it. This needs ironing out quickly before the season starts. Other than that we look pretty good.

I think this answers your question (courtesy of tangerinedreams on another thread): -

We've had the same centre half paring for a while now. Coincidence or rotten luck?

Squad incomplete. due to players needed to be moved on to make way for players to come in. Out- Lewi, Black, Lomax, Lee, O'Grady. All five a I would say DP wants shut of.

I'd tend to agree but maybe not in the case of Lomax - he's been used an awful lot in friendlies.

We still need a centre half and a striker IMHO.

I see your point. However lets take Boro game for example. DP doesn't seem to be one to get on players back's aka Shez (his main short coming) however both coaches repeatedly told Lomax what to do, they'll do this so long. Whilst with O'Grady the look exchanged between the pair of coaches of exsaperation said it all, card marked. Lee is well documented and so far removed from the first team now nailed on. Lewi is history too, although without the public flogging. As for Black he's just not going to cut it.

As per Advertiser clear messages in this.

"The team's taking shape but there are certain areas we need to look at. We've only got two centre-halves (Sean Gregan and Reuben Hazell) and in six weeks of pre-season, you find the team's picking itself coming into the last game.

"The young kids we've signed aren't first-teamers but we're trying to get a group together of 18 and 19-year-olds because with having seven substitutes this season, you need a bigger squad.

"Lee Duxbury (reserve team boss) can develop them and if they're ready, they're ready."

Cards marked for O'Grady as obviously not in front of mind. Lewi not delivering and down order.

Lee is Lee and on way somewhere?

Kelvin will be staying done little wrong but likely to be a sub for now.

Black havent seen enough to comment other than others again appear to be jumping line. Rowney, Brooke etc.

I wonder if DP made an enquiry for the big centre back Mvoto of Sunderland ?

Definitely a centre half with some pace. Boro had a few pacey frontmen but at times Gregan looked like he was wading through treacle and only his mind and tackling ability saved his bacon.

Abbott and Byfield seemed to have an understanding but the rest of the strikers either can't cut the mustard or still too young i.e. Brooke
