help needed any ideas and links please, SCOUSELATIC is getting married in July so we're trying to organise the condemned man an appropriate send off. Dublin was the destination of choice but we've decided to stick two fingers up at paying the best part of a fiver a pint. So i'm thinking along the lines of Tallin, Riga, Krakow BUT we want to do it on a budget if you have any suggestions advice etc please post....

Anywhere in the euro zone seems to be so expensive these days...

I had my stag night in Dublin and had a great time. I would go there to be frank and just stump up the Pennines.

I had my stag do in Dublin too in 2006, great weekend! :laught30::drinking66::lol1::drinking45::laught16::grin::Ireland::shock::lipsrsealed2::naughty::wedgie::drinking::pizza::sick:

sounds :censored:e but the adult weekends at butlins are excellent, 4000-5000 people all on stag dos and hen partys, atmosphere is quality and it is quite cheap as well!

3 day cruise to bilbao, nightclub, bars, entertainment on the boat, casino, swimming pool, gym etc. only down side it sails from southampton.

Went to Dublin in 06 as well. Pricey. If you do go to Dublin then stay away from Temple Bar everyone.

I disagree... While there is no doubting Temple Bar is expensive thats where the night life is. You can venture out into the wider parts of Dublin but it is simply not as lively and if you are on a stag do you tend to be after the more "lively" places :D

The adult weekends at Butlins is a great suggestion. Could be top that :)

Tallin, Riga etc are not as cheap as they used to be. I've not been to Tallin but I'm told it;s better than Riga. Thing is, Prague isn't much dearer these days and is ALOT better.

Closer to home, it's hard to admit it but Leeds is probably the best night out of anywhere in the north. Newcastle maybe?

Newcastle isn't as good a night out as Manchester IMHO (it depends what you like I suppose). A trip to the races is a good idea- there is usually some form of race meeting within an hour or so of the Oldham area on a weekend in the summmer combine that with a night out at the nearest big city (usually Leeds) then you may have yourself a winner.

Having said that when is this stag do as if its in the first week and a half of July you'll have the world cup to be thinking about (not planning a trip like but if England are playing in the semi you won't find much else better to do).

I would echo staying away from Dublin as it was ridiculously expensive for a pint in 2005 nevermind now with the Euro being as strong- have a look at some of the cheap flight options as if the kids are still in school you may be able to get away to somewhere half decent for not a lot.

If you are beer drinkers there's nowhere better than York, and upstairs in Ziggy's Nightclub and Restaurant features friendly serving staff who will find you a nice quiet place to sit down in return for a modest tip (insert naughty emoticon). You can also do an excellent pub crawl on either (or both) of the train journeys there/back. It can get mildly lairy there on race weekends with hoards of hammered Glaswegians around but it's but it's not that bad. If you go for that book accomodation at the University, tell them you are alumni and a single en suite is around £30.

Likewise, if you go the Dublin book at Trinity college, it's bang in the middle of the city, I stayed there on a stag do a couple of years ago, me and my mate got a flat (two rooms, living room and kitchen) overlooking a fantastic quad for the same price as most of the lads paid for twin rooms a mile and a half away. It was the only bargain we found all weekend mind. Universities are the way forward to away trips.

Did Chester races on a stag do a few years ago. Stayed in the holiday inn (?) on the racecourse carpark and had two nights in Chester. Great nights, and only a few mins walk from hotel. Told them we were a golf society mind you.......

Agree about Temple Bar, its a top place but ridiculously expensive.

Alternatively, Liverpool takes some beating. Always full of hot chicks, and the pubs are all in one place so not too much wandering about.

Edinburgh though..... Went on a stag do in september. We found a bar/club that we dubbed the Carlsberg bar (dont do bars but if they did.......) that was like Hollyoaks. Uglies turned away at the door!!!! Gorgeous women wall to wall and outnumbered the men by about 6 to 1. Needless to say we didnt cop off, probably had something to do with us having our mouths wide open all the time....

But I have to say, having been on 3 stag do's to Benidorm in the space of 4 years, it would be my number one choice. Go for the Orange Hotel opposite Cafe Benidorm and you wont have to worry about not being able to find your hotel when you cop off/:censored: you pants/cop off and :censored: your pants....

No. Might be getting this all arse up but im sure we had crossed Princes and Rose Street so could have been on George Street? It was a fairly big place. Went up steps to get in because there is a nightclub downstairs (:censored:e). The 'carlsberg' bar had an upstairs too with booths. Upstairs was pretty classy actually. There is also a club next door which i think had a name like Who? or Why? or What? or something daft like that. Sure there was a question mark in it anyway.

Oh here you go, i googled it. The bar next door is called Why Not? And its on George Street. So u want the one next door, on the right as you look at it from outside. And up the steps, not the club downstairs.

Ah that'll be Le Monde, only decent place om George St. Been in the club downstairs (shanghai) once - full of posers and left after one over priced beer. At the risk of getting back on topic I'd back edinburgh as a choice - plenty of variation so there should be something to please everyone

I was at Why Not? at the start of November. Epic night. Very studenty though, not really a stag do venue. Didn't go to the bar next door, or at least I don't think we did anyway...though that doesn't mean very much.

Edinburgh's a quality city.
