singe
Shurely shome mishtake? How do you stand down? Surely you step down? Or climb down or even Get Down But you stand for office? Of course, this is vastly more important than the fact the club probably cannot sustain their losses, everyone knows this surely?

Ackey
Why comment then? Do you comment on all posts you think don't matter? Maybe I'll start doing the same. I was contributing to the debate, not detracting from the post. My opinion - on the intricacies of the plural/singular debate - is that "it really doesn't matter". I think the debate is a valid one, if not somewhat tired and stereotypical. For what it's worth I'd say there're 4 viewpoints: 1. Singular, 2. Plural, 3. Doesn't matter, as long as it reads/sounds correct, 4. Couldn't give a s--- either way.

beag_teeets
If you're a chair you often get the keys to the executive bathroom in which you would find a toilet, often referred to as a throne. I like stories.

latic12345
Latics is a club. A club is plural by definition. Come on. It's a club, it's not two clubs. Therefore, club is singular. Two clubs is plural. Latics is a proper noun that refers to a club and thus is singular.

I have it from someone formerly within the club, but still very much in the know, that this is definately not happening.... Looks like its just us and Simon C. You also stand for a seat in the House of Commons, but at Boundary Park you find a seat in a Stand! If you transport goods by car it's a shipment, but if you transport them by ship it's a cargo! Isn't the English language wonderful!
rigsby
So,i was right all along.Well forgive ne for giving a sound rollocking to the lemmings. The facts are these... They bought the club for the land. They have lost to much money and want out.(All of them) Failsworth aint happening, and never was imo. Corney will hang on until the end of the season. we'll probably go down. Oh,and PD is sat at home thinking WTF??? Depressing...but all true.

The facts are these... They bought the club for the land. True, but everyone knows that They have lost to much money and want out.(All of them) True, always been said. The critical point is when SC wants out. They could ahve gone back on their word to US, so heartening that SC is still here. Would not have been that difficult a business to walk away, its the emotion and honour keeping them here. Failsworth aint happening, and never was imo. Very well might not. But it's only the land issue that has kiboshed it, Why would they spend all the money so far? Makes no sense Corney will hang on until the end of the season. Probably. we'll probably go down. That's gues a gues and cannot by definition be "but all true." Oh,and PD is sat at home thinking WTF??? I just doubt that. He could walk easily, and walk away no real problem His budget has not changed, remember.

All it needs is a good season with young player putting a shift in for the shirt and potential investors will be more interested. If this had happened last summer....I think we would be more or less clubless right now.
leeslover
Well said Singe Crikey we are a bunch of faithless fans. PD knew budget in advance, hasnt demanded a large salary himself, has loads of enthusiasm as does Taggart IF they can get a young team WE ARE IF YOU CARE TO LOOK. Only 2 over 28. playing with the passion a Dickov and Taggart had we will be ok. WTF do people expect the mention of some players hillarious. Dickov will sign players as first team regulars like Jones and will make a team that works hard. I backed Penny but have far more faith in PD. Fully expect Dickov to be in the goals and why not? its a :censored:e division where a bit of class will count. Every once in a while it's helpful to just stop and take on board the possibility that things are going to be OK
