shefflatic
Said to my mates something was wrong when he scored and didn't dance. ive just watched the notts post match chat on their player, hughesy not happy at all, had a real serious look on his face and said that he doesnt want to sit on the bench at any club, needs to be playing 90mins every week I know we're going back here, but i'd take a 34yr old hughes vs feeney all day long

outoftheblue
He's a complete cock. Trouble is, he's a cock who knows where the net is, and that's hard to ignore. Loan deal to the end of this season I could accept, but I'd hate him to have his feet too firmly under the table here again.
thelaticsfan
I think we have all learned that players returning to the club go either 2 ways, they either become excellent for us or end up seeing out their contract on the bench, unfortunately the latter is usually the case, id prefer to keep the memories of his good season with us and stay clear of this one
maddog
If I were Dickov, I wouldn't have the disruptive little sociopath anywhere near my squad.

slurms mckenzie
"If you're 100% fit, you know you've trained hard and have scored two goals in two games then you hope to start." Does Hughes' training consist of drinking beer and smoking tabs? Unfortunately, after the Hardy incident, can't see Hughesy ever coming back. He doesn't really strike me as a "dickov" player either. Hometownclub
I don't think there's a chance in hell of Hughes coming back here, on loan or otherwise.
opinions4u
He'd score goals. It would be a great (footballing) addition to the squad. But even before the Hardy incident it wasn't the end of the world that he left, for all the reasons stated above. I actually think the Taylor / Tonk partnership up front is a good one. I wouldn't want to change it to give Hughes a game. So if he'd be happy sitting on the bench and not being a disruptive influence, get him back. If that can't be guaranteed, it's a silly idea. I don't think there's a chance in hell of Hughes coming back here, on loan or otherwise. Based on the criteria above, I think you're right! And for a few other reasons too. I defended us giving him a second chance etc but I think I was wrong with hindsight. The family club feel around Latics started to fade for me around that time... I don't know... I think it was a mistake... It certainly hurt our reputation at the time and I still think people dislike us for it all... razza699
why just because he is unhappy at Notts Co do fans suddenly think we could resign him ?
garcon
Because they are idiots who are constantly living in the past.
razza699
Because they are idiots who are constantly living in the past. and this was showed at the meet the manager night in the question and answer time , there was more talk about Royle , Milligan and co than current players
youngen
I wouldnt quite say Im living in the past, but if a player of Lee Hughes mould/calibre became available who will bag you 15 goals, then I think we would be daft to not consider signing them. I liked Lee Hughes when he was here purely because of how easily he found the net. But its highly unlikely he will become available as I dont think Notts County can afford to lose him. Lags
Without having a direct line to the management team, I think Hughes wouldn't get past a blank stare.
