Channel M
Why not try a different formation to accommodate our 3 fit centre backs and lack of left back? Cisak - GK Lee- RWB (loves to attack and has good energy levels) Mvoto - CB Tarky - CB Diamond - CB Taylor - LWB (can defend ok and covers ground well) M'Changaman - CM Adeyemi - CM Morais - Floating free role Reid - CF Kuqi - CF
slystallone
I think Adeyemi has gone back to his parent club as his loan has finished?

New ground to visit for most. Stevenage are on the slide. Latics were crap on Saturday, so they can only play better.
daniel8157
I think Taylor and Kuqi need dropping for a game so I would go with Cisak Diamond M'voto Tarkowski Winchester M'changama Lee Brown Morais Reid Smith
opinions4u
I quite like the 3-5-2 suggestion, but if it's not been worked on in training it's a non-starter for me. Apparently we're talking to Norwich today about extending Adeyemi's loan for the rest of the season.

opinions4u
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Bit stronger than a "Meh" then?!! I think Adeyemi has a good future in the game. But, like any young player, he blows hot and cold. I've been wanting him to step up to the plate and impose himself on the midfield recently, as our senior player in there. That's probably asking a bit too much. If he'd been playing alongside one of Furman or Wesolowski I think we'd have seen him contrbiute a lot more. Alongside Brown or Winchester it becomes and overwhelmingly hopeless task for him. Dunno if it's right or wrong to renew the loan. Not sure I care!

Dunno if it's right or wrong to renew the loan. Not sure I care! yep - I just don't rate the lad. 1 driving run every game just isn't enough. I don't see this dynamic midfielder others do. When you play in such a key area of the side, you just can't afford to disappear for long spells. You have to find ways to involve yourself. If you're struggling to have the ball at feet; actually go and find it, show for it & want it. If you've merely been running about, instead of just covering the ground; actually look to put a foot in, steam into a tackle, break up play with an intercept or knock a player off their stride. Tom hasn't done that all season. Yes he's meant that we have been able to play 2 in the CM when Wes or Furman has been out, but IMO that's basically been what he's brought to the table - he's made the numbers up in the CM area. If he's going to make a career for himself long-term - he'll have to find a way to become more involved in games. Is he an attack minded CM - then he needs to get the ball in the right areas and actually look to have an influence from those areas. Is he a box to box type - then he actually needs to touch the ball as well as merely covering the yards. Is he a holding player? Well, no, but if he wants to be one; then he needs to learn how to tackle, break up play and work that role. For me, it's of no surprise that his best games were when he was called into action at RB. There's no hiding place at full-back. You can't just merely run around and make up the numbers, you have to be involved. IMO, if he wants a career in the game he should revert to a RB role, learn that position and he might stand a chance of still playing at 28+ years of age. IMO it's a waste right now to extend his loan. The money would be better spent on an area we a struggling in - namely left back. Bring in a specialist left back, and it means we will finally have a modicum of consistency in that position; and also means we could then look to play a prospect in his natural position instead of hanging him out to dry in an unfamiliar role at LB. We don't need Tom for the rest of the season, it's a waste. We can fill another key area with a specialist and play one of our own. Dave Mellor will not surely be any less involved than Tom if he were to given a chance in his favoured CM role?

Break The Silence
Personally i'd be tempted to try out the 1-10-0-0 formation as that's just about the only way I can see us keeping a clean sheet after Saturday's Benny Hill defensive performance
Roger Ritchie
As a midfielder I want you to move the ball around. Put your foot on it. Pass it short. Move. Repeat. Get the ball forward to the strikers, support them. On saturday I cannot remember either central midfielder being remotely central or passing the ball forward once. Young Burns can do all that, but obviously PD doesn't think he's ready yet.
GlossopLatic
Might be in the minority on this one but I think we should go back to 4-4-1-1. On saturday we seemed to play in straight lines playing 2 right uptop and we were not linking midfield and attack as a result our passing lacked imagination and our play lacked fluidity, as their was knowone who got in between the oppositions midfield and defense and we were nice and easy to play against. You can have this with 3-5-2 but at this stage of the season I think it wouldn't be right to completely change it to that as it means the rest of the team is disrupted. oafckev
http://www.stevenagefc.com/page/LatestNewsDetail/0,,10839~2656208,00.html £5 off voucher for Stevenage fans - bit rude not offering it to the away fans. Anyone fancy being a bit cheeky and taking a section of their end?
pinchmepup
Yes, I saw that voucher. I thought there were rules about giving same price to away fans, but maybe it's just normal politeness by most clubs. Not exacyly going to break the bank for them with the numbers we'll have. opinions4u
Cisak, Adeyemi, M'Voto, Diamond, Lee, Morais, M'Changama, Brown, Taylor, Reid, Kuqi Diamond captain. Does this mean Adeyemi RB and Lee LB? Tarky on bench. I can see the case for taking both Tarky and Mellor out of the action.
