Twisbrogan Posted April 25, 2012 Share Posted April 25, 2012 Well worth a watch and addresses several issues raised on this board NOT including whether the new kit should feature tangerine. * Basically isn't happy with the level of performance and entertainment value over second half of season * Blames injuries to some degree but also mentions effort and tactics haven't always been right * Backs Dickov (he's a very good manager...only two years in...happy with him) and appreciates that he's pulled the trigger too fast in the past but things need to improve * Mentions stand. The stand everyone! Recommended viewing. Seems to speak a lot of sense and you can't help but be grateful that we've got him with us. It will be interesting to see who will be the new signings for next season and PDs match tactics to enhance SCs wish (as most of us) for a more entertaining style of play. Disappointed he couldn't add to anything about the new stand as good news would provide a tremendous boost and give genuine hope for the future. I didn't realise 20 players were brought in after the the season started (some on their full premiership wages), this can't be allowed to happen again, more permanent signings must be made pre season. SCs knowledge of the game inside and out now is so good I sometimes think he would actually a make a fine manager of a football team himself. Hopefully there won't be as many signings brought in as there should be a good group of players to form a basis of a squad that can be signed up. Season review Has been great and dissappointing, probably more disappointing. Started with lull of hope, good run in the league, good FA Cup run, JPT run. Fell apart after Chesterfield and has been disappointing since. Feels for Dickov as the squad has been hampered by injury. But two years in a row, capitulating at the end of the season - Dickov & management team aware and want to put it right for next season. Never worried about relegation - knew we'd pick up the points. Looked close at one stage when 2-1 down at Wycombe but still not worried. Overall, players and management had enough to keep us up but not where we expected to be. FA Cup Finances. Helped tremendously, would have been a hard season to get through without those finances. Things are going to get tougher.. the country as a whole not economically good. Stand/BP Progress is being made, will not say anything until he has cast iron news as to if, or what we are going to be building and how it will be developed. Knows its frustrating for the fans, is for himself but any news given at this point would not help in any way. Next season - expectations Don't just need to improve results and points total, but more importantly need to improve entertainment. Been to the most home games as he's been too out of any year - not knocking management - but hasn't been entertaining. Sometimes it's the players, times showing lack of effort, sometimes tactics wrong, sometimes luck against us. Need to give more value for money for fans at BP, need to see players working harder and wants fans to go home having seen a big effort even in defeat, not losing 1-0/2-0 to teams in the bottom 4. We paid none of the wages for Mvoto and Tonks last season. The guy saved Latics and for that I'll back him all day long. We need some stability and glad to hear Dickov is going to be kept on. To be fair we live in a very different world today to what we did with JR their was no bosman ruling back then and no transfer windows either. Whats happening nowadays is that players are keeping their options open until the end of august. If we want to bring them in early we will often have to pay over the odds and over their value to get them in, and when your working on a tight budget its not necessarily the best option. The interview itself Corney came across well he said pretty much exactly what microcuts summarised I can fully understand why he is not announcing anything until he has something cast iron in place re: the stand although it would be good for us as fans to have something to atleast get excited about and invest some faith in. How big is that reduction in TV money in % terms? Bet the PL clubs wouldn't be too happy if they received such a cut.
