Ackey Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Hi All, As you know OWTB.co.uk is seeing more and more traffic as the site continues to be the main source of Latics news for fans around the country, and the world. We're proud of this and exceptionally grateful to those who already donated to help keep the site afloat. We're working hard in the background to finalise usage figures to show just how much traffic you all generate and to enable us to better manage the site and the (expensive!) resource requireds to support it. That said there is a simple and easy way you can all help us, and yourselves, make the place a better community and also an easier to manager resource: SEARCH! A simple scan of the first two or three pages of OWTB.co.uk will likely turn up a thread (or two!) about the topic you are interested in, and posting there will not only reduce the amount of impact you have on the site but also help everyone reading OWTB.co.uk to have a better experience. It's simple, easy and effective and we'd really appreciate you all helping out! If you have any questions post away! Cheers, Ack
Break The Silence Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 You locking all the threads might do the trick as well eh Ackey? Ha ha.
jsslatic Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 If you have any questions post away! I have a rash in a special place, would you take a look at it for me?
24hoursfromtulsehill Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Is "View New Content" a good or a bad button to use?
24hoursfromtulsehill Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I have a rash in a special place, would you take a look at it for me? You're responsible for this mess with your "Just out of interest" and "Club Stance on Slags" trolling. You can take care of your own knobrot.
jsslatic Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 You're responsible for this mess with your "Just out of interest" and "Club Stance on Slags" trolling. You can take care of your own knobrot. Memorable.
leeslover Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Memorable. Beery saliva is said to help. Are you busy before the Everton game?
jsslatic Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Beery saliva is said to help. Are you busy before the Everton game? Not anymore.
leeslover Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Not anymore. Dr Lover will be, as they say, on hand with his magic ointment.
Wardie Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Putting those damned Polls in their own section might help, at least that way, if anyone wants to take part then they know where to go.
Magic Mikey Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Putting those damned Polls in their own section might help, at least that way, if anyone wants to take part then they know where to go. Racist
iamjonesyyoafc Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Putting those damned Polls in their own section might help, at least that way, if anyone wants to take part then they know where to go. What have the polls ever done to you!?
Ackey Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Putting those damned Polls in their own section might help, at least that way, if anyone wants to take part then they know where to go. Working on that! I think £2 per poll is the way to go - helps with both issues. The lads won't let me do it though!
keep_the_faith Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 As a predominant mobile visitor to the site, and an internet speed they'd be ashamed of 30yrs ago all these cryptic thread titles that you open to find a link to another pages do my head in. at least write a line or 2 so we can decide whether its worth going through with the link!!
24hoursfromtulsehill Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Guidelines on posting. One bloke grabs one leg and pulls it one side of the lamp post. Another bloke grabs the other leg and pulls it to the other side of the lamp post. Then you both pull at the same time. Hey presto. A posting.
maddog Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 As a predominant mobile visitor to the site, and an internet speed they'd be ashamed of 30yrs ago all these cryptic thread titles that you open to find a link to another pages do my head in. at least write a line or 2 so we can decide whether its worth going through with the link!! Agreed - and also, for the benefit of mobile users, please don't quote a really really reeeealllly long post in its entirity when replying to it.
Ackey Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Fair points - it annoys me too! I will try (as we used to do in the olden days) to moderate this more... hard with so little free time!
jsslatic Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Fair points - it annoys me too! I will try (as we used to do in the olden days) to moderate this more... hard with so little free time! So are you looking at my rash or not? It's similar to yours but less oozy.
bossrocks Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I thought this thread was going to tell me to stop swearing!
footy68 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Agreed - and also, for the benefit of mobile users, please don't quote a really really reeeealllly long post in its entirity when replying to it. +1
LT_SMASH Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Not to sound like a kill joy but any chance of tightening up on the swearing. The language on OWTB over the last 12 months has got, well, a bit loose.
Ackey Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Frank and honest answer - no. We simply don't have the time or inclination to manage it these days. It was all but a full time job before.
disjointed Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Self policing if you think some one has gone OTT on the language let them know, Im with the Mary Whitehouse brigade when it gets extreme. In the right context it can be amusing, but there is a limit
