NewBlue Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Anybody else more excited for it than before? I felt it had gone rather stale and a lot of optimism had petered out. A couple of decent wins, granted, but we hadn't played great, then the two defeats against bottom of the league. It's so unpredictable now. Latics as a club and the league itself. The right appointment could send us on a run that we need, the wrong one and we may be cut adrift. Some cracking local aways to come and a few spicy home fixtures that should bring bumper gates if we're still in contention. I'm not happy about today, but I'm more determined for us to reach the top 6 in spite of Johnson. Come on Latics...

oafc_lover Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Beat Preston 5-0 and you will be. We will definitely not beat Preston 5-0. However, I can see a 5-0 scoreline.
mickjagger Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Our form has not been good since Christmas, it might have a positive effect on the players hearing a different voice & approach.
dec666 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Our form has not been good since Christmas, it might have a positive effect on the players hearing a different voice & approach. I'd agree if it was a new man, but it's just the same voices they'd have already been hearing in training.
BP1960 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I'd agree if it was a new man, but it's just the same voices they'd have already been hearing in training. I think they will certainly hear Lockwoods voice if any slacking.
Hands on Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 This is nothing like a new manager bounce. It is an old manager deserting what could easily be a sinking ship. The voices will be the same but the most important two will be missing. I'm sure Holden and Lockwood do have a future on the management coaching side but throwing them in at the deep end two points off 6th against Preston is asking too much. Even asking Gary J to see us through to the end of the season would be better. Been there done it and he must know more about our team than any other manager - look at the way he destroyed us in the 4 0 gift from son Lee.
underdog Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I'm more worried about our injuries and being battered for the next few games. But as long as we win Barnsley....master plan.....git
RobOAFC Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I'm sure Holden and Lockwood do have a future on the management coaching side but throwing them in at the deep end two points off 6th against Preston is asking too much. Or is it a good time as we might not expect to beat Preston anyway and a draw or win will be seen as a good result for them?
doctor evil Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 New manager = Short term impact = promotion

TheBigDog Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 We will definitely not beat Preston 5-0. However, I can see a 5-0 scoreline. I've had a sneaky bet on Johnson to score...
dec666 Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I've changed my opinion on Holden since Wednesday. I don't want to see him in charge until the end of the season, but I liked his interview yesterday and I'm looking forward to seeing what he and Lockwood do tomorrow.
