beag_teeets
Bugger me: "This has shaken my faith in devolution. It makes you wonder why Whitehall should give more powers to local authorities if can they knock back a great scheme like this." Go on Phil, mince your words. mikebOAFC
Didn't expect that from Woolas, and I know hes had plenty of stick over the years, but fair play to him that is exactly the kind of thing the club, and the council, needs to be hearing today. Just jumped up in my estimation
danoafc
Brilliant stuff:- Phil Woolas on Official Site Absolutely spot on Mr Woolas. We need more high profile supporters like Phil in the camp to make the short sighted council see how beneficial this will be for the whole town. Alec1954
And it will ensure we are on the front page of The Chron again tomorrow. Get that pressure cranked up! Well done Wolly.... I have just sent my well reason request to Michael Meacher for him to bring the Minister for Local goverment on board.....I just cannot see how the Chair, any Chair can declare an interest (he has been naughty) and then influence the committe and then vote! chickers
What was this about simon giving up last nite?? i think we got knocked down in round one with a sucker punch, we are ready for going the full 12!! BRING IT ON!!
beag_teeets
And it will ensure we are on the front page of The Chron again tomorrow. Get that pressure cranked up! We have to make sure we get on the front page again on Monday too and the day after and the day after.. (Taking in to account the break for the weekend) - In a positive way though. This can not be left to just whimper out. Another MASSIVE picture of you and me on the front page will surely force the council to change their minds, if only to stop them having to see our boat races staring up at them from the chip wrappers. garcon
Christ Almighty! That's the first I've agreed with anything Phil Woolas has ever said. And I agree with every word! My God, Bashforth will squirm when he reads that (if he hasn't had a phone call from Woolas already!)...
Latics and England
I've had my differences with Mr Woolas over the years but this is a fantastic show of support.

jsslatic
Superb Mr. Woolas and just what TTA should be hearing. This is not over, with enough backing we can still make this happen. Maybe get Scholesy to say something? That would make the front page of the Chron.

24hoursfromtulsehill
Brilliant stuff:- Phil Woolas on Official Site Pint of Kronenburg for him in the pump at the Press Bar for when he gets back. No word from Meacher though? I don't suppose he's much concerned with the whole thing because it doesn't involve the Cotswolds, tennis courts, champagne, property development (not the kind that Michael's into) or Michael Meacher. chaddymatt
Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never liked Mr. Woolas but he has summed it up superbly. Every word is spot on. Here, here! Great words from Woolas - let's hope they resonate very loudly
Nohairdontcare
Great stuff - pressure must be kept on the council. I like the idea of asking Scholes to chip in...
murrayzmint
Excellent from Mr. Woolas. We can't let them get away with this!!! God!! I'm so angry!!!!
singe
That is the most unpolitical statement from a politician I have ever seen. I am astounded he is being so direct. Good on him, he's gone up in my estimation. Meacher is as low as he ever was.
