Proposed site of new ground
Haribo_man replied to steveoafc's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
ongoing decline over the last decade and a half??? Why aren't we playing in the Ashton Sunday League then corp. Surely we have remained at a constant. or arguably improved over the times when we were in the 4th tier? -

So Early in the season and so many injuries
Haribo_man replied to TheBigDog's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
[quote name=I wonder if it would be worth sticking parker on the left wing while we are suffering personnel wise with injuries then go with either O'Grady or Lewi partnering big Pav? Would give us a more attacking bias then? Just a thought like -

I normally just observe the debate as opposed to getting involved but the matter of the capacity and us being forever confined to the mediocrity of lower league football is one which has fascinated me greatly. the corp inparticular has been particularly voiciferous about this being the beginning of the end blah blah blah. Now we have the fantastic idea of sexing ourselves up and touting the product to the highest bidder who happens to have a couple of billion spare. Lets try and be realistic about this, we are lucky to have in place some owners which have already invested and placed us on a stable footing with the prospect of a shiny new stadium in the pipeline. To some this is not adequate as 12,000 seats will simply not accomodate the huge crowds which we are expecting. I am a but nonplussed as to where this 150% increase in attendence is going to come from and I certainly see no correlation between that and how we are condemmed to 3rd tier football for the rest of existence. Corp quite rightly wants a return to the glory days when we enjoyed 3 seasons in the top tier of English football, who in their right mind doesn't? Not for one minute can i see TTA wishing to stagnate and aettle for the lower leagues - does building a ground to cater for our needs whilst in thi league and the one above mean that? Of course not. It was on only a few occasions that we ever exceeded that capacity whilst in the prem. If you used football grounds and capacity for a marker of success then you will be way off the mark. I mean, boundary park was hardly the biggest draw when we had our greatest recent success was it, for Christs sake the RRE didn't even have seats or a roof! Granted we may have missed opportunities and could have perhaps consolidated but we are under a different regime now. If they were happy to settle for lower league football why go to the trouble of bringing in a new gaffer? Surely we would have sat comfortably at the same level for years under Shez? The comparisons to teams like Burnley and Bolton are also non-starters. By and large these are both better supported and traditionally more successful clubs than ours and for the most part have either been in the same division or above barring our purple patch late 1980's early 90's. In fact if we were to use that as a yardstick take Bury, historically more seasons in the top flight than us and FA cup winners - crazy! I could go on but I imagine that I have bored people with my ramblings enough. Basically 12,000 is more than adequate for our needs now and we can expand if required, where is the issue there? We managed to have a great period whilst trading out a dive of a ground so where is the relevance to that. Have we been left behind by other clubs? That is debateable but I think for the most part we are probably at our level as depressing as that may seem to some. We will always have a chance for promotion and have come close twice so why does that mean we won't succeeed. To date I have not seen the Corp put forward any suggestions as to how we will break the cycle. I have previousley seen a quote stating that it isn't his job - why isn't it corp? if you want to see success then surely it is. Lets get behind the people which are clearly trying to attempt something positive at our club an extra 4000 seats will not make a jot of difference at this stage! As for the middle eastern oil baron coming in and making us the most successful team around, well I probably have got more chance of getting myself into the best shape and bagging me princess Stephanie of Monaco!

Are you the Corp in disguise? If only i could bin my missus which would leave me with a clean slate and find a hot sexy millionaire girl so i could enjoy some good times!!??

Quite a lot of rubbish posted on here such as insurers not paying out if a driver accepts liability and also the fact that the insurers will look to settle within 12 months. Injury claims are assessed on the nature of the injury (naturally) the amount of disruption it will cause to your general quality of life, the knock on effects felt by any dependents and also the rehabilitation period. Insurers will look to settle as soon as possible but they are no mugs. Full medical reports will be required and some form of physiotherapy report detailing how long your injury will take to recover and also the type of exercise required to acheive this. As has been mentioned if you have legal protection then your insurer will be able to appoint a solicitor on your behalf who will co-ordinate the medical side of things and negotiate settlement on your behalf. Insurers use a set system called colussus to assess what value should be placed on the injury and any settlement awarded. Failing that most solicitors will take on what would appear to be a straightforward case but beware as there are a lot of dodgy ones out there.

I fail to see any racism in that comment - it shows no prejuidice towards the Jewish faith but simply states the owners' religion. Let's face it, the offer was a tad ambitious to say the least, If I was to grade the effort I'd give it a D+ More work required for success on this. -
I dont care if people have bad grammar and spelling as long as I get the message, but abbreviated/bastardised words make reading more difficult and frankly irritating to me. Does anyone else find this? Whats the big deal? there are more important things in the world. I'm not a great fan of people picking up the most minor of matters.

Team For Next Season?
Haribo_man replied to oldhamoafc's topic in The opinions4u Terraces - Latics Forum
Could someone please tell me why we would want Jones next season? I just don't see why he is so highly rated. He is pacey and can sometimes put a good delivery into the box but he is definately no left back. If he was willing to concede that he could be a useful winger then I would be all for that but I have not seen anything to suggest he is better defensively than what we have in Lomax. -

something which nobody appears to have mentioned is our form since Crossley was out of the side. I know a few people on here have not rated him however for me he has been a very solid performer from the second half of the season in his first year. There are clearly a number of possible permeatations surrounding our demise and please do not for one second think that I am having a go at Fleming as I feel he is a very good keeper and someone which I would like to see at our club in the number 1 shirt for a number of years. Compettition would be great however for the time being lets keep Crossers on as coach and back up and see how he can bring the young lads through -

Will it not be the kids who mither their parents to take them though? These parents who are more than likely exiles who support another team possibly 100's of miles away. It6 is not practicle for these people to truck their families across the county every weekend for traditions sake, and what if they were plonked in conference south as Ed has suggested...which innocent team suffers then? In no way do I condone what has happened to Wimbledon and the MK saga but as a latics fan it does not bother me one jot, yes we could have been in a similar position but I feel that our support is better than the poor showing that Wimbledon had and we simply would not allow that. All I care about is whether or not we beat who we play on Saturday, gain three points and cement ourselves to the top of the table. Whether it be Arsenal, Wigan, MK Dons whoever.
