  1. would the less than 10k have scope for expansion?
  2. Redevelopment of BP is not an option if the owner(s) want to make any return or even any money back on their investment short term which was ideally their plan. For Latics redevelopment would possibly be viable if money was there and people involved were happy to wait long-term to turn any profit but that is highly unlikely with the ideal outcome the club being self sustainable. With the funds/investment available from the people willing to put the dosh in BP just isn't a runner unfortunately. Unless someone with a wedge is happy to turn that into reality we are more than likely on the move.
  3. Or sue the council and move to Ashton............. Only joking!!
  4. Goals win games that's for sure although I'd be more than happy with stuffy 1 nil wins off Trotters backside! Hudds game is a big one, get something out of that and we could be well placed. Unlike seasons under Shez where we seemed to start running out of momentum after the new year I feel that this side is yet to hit its peak. Fingers crossed the lads can keep the momentum going. One big bonus has been our ability to come back after defeat with a good result.
  5. Eardley all day, great free kick, good tackler and a decent cross when he didn't have to resort putting them in from the half way line! Regards Lee, our most consistent player so far and a true contender for player of the season, wouldn't be disappointed with either in the side. Lee probably has a bit more class on the ball and linked up nicely a few times last night.
  6. I'd agree with that. Since his arrival his hold up play has improved tenfold and showed Yesterday that he has developed a smarter way of playing (chest down to play it onto Morais I think) but overall seems to want about half a second too long before getting a shot away. He is a good target man but seems to be without a true strikers instinct like a Beckett or Hughes. I think Tonk has been a good player for us but everybody knows if we had someone who could pop it in the onion bag on a regular basis we would probably be comfortably in the play offs. Someone to play of Tonk BTW not to replace him.
  7. When are Fleetwood Next at home when we are away??? Greeegan!!
  8. Unfortunate comment considering the passing of Julie Beattie who was a very loyal supporter, probably best that he moved on now as he would surely never be forgiven for that
  9. I :censored: you not.... a signed picture of Dean Furman! Some strange folk out there.
  10. Robs right, we did well 1st half but it was magnified by Exeter allowing us time and space to create. At 3 nil it should have been shut out and a lack of intelligence retaining the ball was our downfall
  11. Have you ever been to the Bernabeu? They have heaters right at the top of the stand in the heavens. I sat there to watch a game, could barely tell who the players were and felt sick as a dog because of the elevation, I spent all half time trying to stop my head spinning. The heaters did nothing but concentrate a load of head onto my forehead and then they were switched off bang on the full time whistle. Needless to say I was freezing when walking out into the January evening!! I'd rather have minus 4, at least you know where you stand with that!
  12. Got to be the one and only tricky Ricky Holden in my lifetime, too easy. Out of the current squad of our players I reckon Lewi is in there and Dale is probably one of the most natural when on form also
  13. Obviously another factor with the massive wages now, players simply won't need to continue or drop down the leagues. I suppose another aspect is the money alsewhere in the game such as people going to the USA (Beckham, Henry) Australia (Fowler) or the middle east (Djorkaeff) when teams lower down the leagues would have possibly benefitted from those players.
  14. Way befor my time and a real shame that I will never be able to see just how much of a great that this man seems to be. It was clear that he was something special at the time simply by the sheer numbers added onto the gate whoch seem to have increased by at least 10,000! It makes you wonder what sort of camparison you would draw in Todays world? If Scholesy did pull on the blue shirt how many more we would see through the turnstyle. I would image the impact would not be as great due to the easy access of all things football in comparison to the sky sportsless days of the 60's and the fact that you couldn't get 17k into BP these days!!
  15. Exactly, this is the issue with having Feeney in the team and not necessarily down to his own doing. At the time people felt he was a good signing and knew that he would be considered for NI. As it turns out it seems to be having a detrimental effect on his club form. The fact that so many people are cheesed off with the situation indicates that they feel he would be a valuble member of the squad with an extended run however that simply hasn't happened. Unfortunately it appears that WF is a luxury which a club with our finances and at our current level cannot afford and a mistake on the management side of things. Whilst I hope that he does turn out to be the player which we thought we had signed it hasn't helped his case that we have been getting good results and therefore Warren is finding it harder to get selected for us as the current 11 seem to be more or less selecting themselves on a weekly basis, at least he is getting top level games in whilst warming the bench and not just stuck to playing in the ressies. The big question is would we be better off with a player of slightly less ability who would be a constant in the side?
  16. I'm not being negative far from it, I am a blind optimist but my questionable mentality doesn't always transpire to others. Like I have said, I'll be buying a strike it lucky ticket, something which I haven't done for a while. Someone has said elsewhere though, it is currently the fans which are letting the club down, not the ones who go, the ones who get the odd programme or delightfully tasty savoury treat but the ones who moan that it is a load of rubbish but will not turn up until their is an improvement. Quite rightly these people are entitled to vote with their feet and choose what to spend their hard earned off but is is really starting to pig me off! I think I'll buy a strike it lucky ticket at every home game from now on actually.
  17. What... is nearly doubling my cholesterol level not enough?? I have already bought a season ticket. The only other person who is stupid enough to come to the game with me has a season ticket, they couldn't make it on Saturday so being near unable to give the sodding thing away I managed to rope some other poor soul into coming with me. Had they not enjoyed the same cuisine as myself (minus the mars bar) I would have felt like I had robbed them blind although it had caost them little more than some peccy money to the range. On a serious note I have brought people to games and if they aren't oldham fans and their heart isn't in it what can you do? One mate is a City fan who comes to a good 4-5 games a season, i also manage to get the inlaw who is a Bolton fan down to a couple during the New Year/Christmas period when he is clearly too inebriated to put in a decent protest. It is too easy for people to not to come and I don't blame them half the time. it I didn't have my annual lapse in common sense when I think 'yeah f*@k it I'll be getting a season ticket next year' I would be kicking myself paying out £20 for what is on offer. This isn't just Latics but football as a whole.
  18. I didn't, but had a cheeky pre match quaff down at the Rifle Range. If you could get Lees's finest with the pies then what a fantastic combination we would have
  19. I'm going to buy a strike it lucky ticket and a pie as usual, sometimes I have 2 pies however it really does depend on how hungry/greedy I am feeling. I had 2 pies against Leyton Orient Chilli Chicken and then Peppered steak. The Chicken was the best but I might have enjoyed the combination a bit more if I'd have gone for steak first. I used having a cold as an excuse for my increased appetite. If I win strike it lucky I will get a programme and a new shirt at the next game and probably a couple of pies. I forgot that I also bought a mars bar as well as the pies.
  20. People knew this was the case as it has been since the RRE was opened it. I really don't see the issue with this
  21. this and o4u's assesment will do for me. bring on Bournemouth! Some people can get carried away with us lying in 3rd. Long way to go yet and still sounds like a marked improvement over last season
  22. yes if we haven't got any money for players
