  1. we don't create enough chances from open play and that's been a problem all season That's probably not going to change any time soon especially against the better sides so for me we need to be working on set pieces and really maximising the threat from them. Make sure the lads know what areas the balls going to and get people running on to it.. . with some mis direction runs thrown in. You know everyone rushes the near post except two who go to the back post and that's where the balls aimed. Jones is OK when shooting for goal but his crossing is too often less than great. Id stick with the same side that started v blackpool and asses from there. We created chances just didn't take them. Main is still probably rusty so id keep him on the bench. If Forte can get back to fitness that's a massive plus and he started he goal run for us from outwide. fingers crossed - glimmers of improvement under shez but we oh so badley need a win.
  2. argh that's a massive blow. We have been crying out for him all season. Why we didn't sign him at the start of the season god only knows. Wages are probably the obvious one but when it looked like he wasn't going to get a club surlely we could have come to an agreement
  3. Baxter...Was told he was class...and to a point he was not a natural athlete sure but touch, technique and could he hit a ball Beckett Liddle although he didn't play I imagined he would when he played for us Now a days I haven't even heard of most of the players we sign and its fingers crossed they are decent like Palmer and not a Colebeck or Poleon
  4. Id be surprised if we saw him this season. His career was very near to end and the operation wasn't a success I cant see him holding up to the demands of full time professional football. His pace and goals have been a huge loss this season
  5. Feel like I have been completely lied to this season with the appointment of Kelly. Then the lies over the new stand - doesn't directly effect me but just shows how badly club is being run. A board full of yes men who know nothing about running a professional football club.Barry Owens clueless comments about not wanting to be promoted - paraphrasing but let's not compete because it might be a struggle. The club has been dying for a good few years now declining fan base and a board who don't want the team to do well just to survive. The product on the pitch is dire and I've had enough of wasting 340 a season. I have enjoyed 2 home games this season. If Corney has given up I may as well to..I don't see where this terminal decline will end at the moment
  6. Agree. I would have stuck with Coleman even after he went awol b Bradford he's a good shot stopper and showed real.promise towards end of last season. He made another mistake last week a real clangrt but it happens to keepers. Cornell was awful last night. The last goal was a disgrace a complete soft arse..if that situation was a real chance matches would finish double figures. Put Coleman in and stick with him
  7. Coleman had a good end to last season. A couple of mistakes this season but he's young I wouldn't have dropped him and kept chopping and changing the keepers like we have. Cornell should have done better for the possibley the last 3 goals last night.
  8. Starting with 2 up front gave me hope for some kind of performance but awful defending put us on the back foot straight away. At 3 down with two decent sized strikers on the pitch and all or a sudden we were causing then problems and getting chances to cross into the box. The first goal cane from their 26 slipping but after that we had suddenly found how to attack.go long and try and pick up the second ball. Then we bring rasulo on who might be a player in time but he wants to tip tappy about when really we would have been suited going to long to higdon and fuller. It's depressing watching us do well to make a game of it and then throwing it away with poor defending and abysmal goal keeping..
  9. teriible again bar the spell after the goal which came from a good bit of play for Yeats and Barnsley switching off. We were well beaten though and that was yet another terrible performance with little to cheer
  10. Agree with fruitygoo a million times over. Have a go at them!!!! we don't have players to play slide rules passes and a clinical finisher to score every one on one he gets. Play the percentages put Higdon and Poleon up top and try and pressure the back 4. They have lost 8 in a row conceading 2 goals a game in almost every defeat put pressure on them dont let them settle. They obviosuley cant defend! As for our goal they switched off and Yeats scores but What do we do for 70 minutes???? Play one upfront and they get into the game and we should have been 3 down by half time Dunn talks about football manager tactics by the fans - that's more than he is showing. Other than bringing in two decent full backs what improvement has their been after Kelly. None!!! We were awful again. We don't know how to attack and the tactics are s****. I don't expect to win every game. I do expect us to try and win the game and create some chances. I say this over and over again but 3 decent efforts on a goal a match is not enough to win points. Make no mistake we are going down and this is directly the fault of Corney and the other clueless board members and Dunn who got lucky at chesterfield that Lee dropped two clangers but isn't showing he knows how to get results or even energize the first team. The club has had the life sucked out of it. I didn't go Tuesday not because of the weather but because i could justify spending more money on this boring, negative football. We nearly got a draw we didn't deserve but that would only paper over the cracks. This is the season where taking the cheap option year on year finally catches up with us. PS Dieng is a capable central defender or right back not a bloody center mid
  11. Don't agree that going down is something to 'aim for' but I know what people mean We are stale, old tin, pot club who have been over taken by the likes of Burton and Fleetwood. I even think some of the die hards are board of it all. Corney certainly is. If we go down we end up like the bin dippers or Stockport with every chance that we start having to play Curzon ashton or Hyde in derbies.
  12. Makes a difference when you see him bombing down the flank able to take people on with a bit of skill or not panic when in possession. Shame we cant have him for the season.. Good young player
  13. Did he play as a striker? Actually think that although he has almost none of the qualities you would want in a wide midfielder or winger it might be the best place for him. He provides decent cover for his full back, his lack of physicality doesn't hurt the team so much and is capable of retaining possession and chipping in with the odd goal.
  14. What I don't understand with this is why he has stayed on trial for so long... Does this mean there are serious doubts over his fitness??? because normally if a trail last anywhere near 1 month most players would say stuff that i'm off to another club. Is the fact another club hasn't been in for a major warning sign
  15. why does it say latics??? surely it should say pie eating athletic only one latics and that's us. I'm not optimistic at all but would really love to beat this lot. Hopefully we play more than 1 up front and get some possession in the final 3rd. We lack confidence so we need an early goal to give us a boostSt Still don't understand Muprhy being let go. We needed another forward.
  16. Used to be dead against the idea. We let the rugby play for a time - did they struggle to pay rent? and then we asked them to leave and it all got a bit silly and the vitriol spouted by people in charge of the rugby really put me off them. But Latics need an income using the ground for more than football is what is needed if the Rugby can pay a fair rent then lets do it. I'm sick of Latics struggling and taking the cheapest option maybe this will open up another avenue (I know it wont be millions in rent) but maybe we don't have to settle for totally obvious cheap options all the time. Huddersfield have done it for years so while I know the rugger does a mess of the pitch ours is some high tech blend isn't it? Hopefully it will stand up to the Rugby be better but other teams do and manage - and lets face it we are truly awful at the minute as bad a side as we have even been in the last 20 years so having the Rugby on the pitch cant make anything worse than an already stagnant club cost cutting and scrimping and looking like this finally might be the season we might end up in the bottom 4 Lets try it
  17. Good footballer, decent on the ball OK defender. Seemed to go down hill mid way through the season was never quick and seemed to get slower. I wonder if his legs are going. Sending off at Yeovil away was stupid and played a big part in us loosing. Still doesn't deserve to be labelled worst player ever - nonsense comment.
  18. Decent kits these. Best for ages. Hate it when we have too much white on them and Tangerine/Orange should be left for the lashers. Lets hope we actually wear them for more than 1 season. Any other teams having red and blue kits wonder If they will need a 3rd strip?
  19. I think this should have happened a long time ago. An old stand with a rubbish atmosphere unless your sat directly in it. Things change - a new ground would have meant no chaddy end. We have been stuck in league one for years lets try something different maybe a better atmosphere might translate to a better match day experience/enjoyment for eveyone
  20. Hill seems to forget we beat them 3-0 at their place with a good squad and completely dominated them. Then with 9 first team players unavailable we put 3 past them again at home. We have lost our manager and had a huge injury list....but we have still beaten them twice in a season. Don't mind 'dale but their forward was clearly trying to dish it out but got it back in spades..... Sorry Keith you just across as a grumpy old man. See you next season
  21. Beckham was never the most articulate didn't hurt his career did it? Holden's biggest problems is too many injuries to key players. If he can get us a few wins I can cope with the fact he's not in the running to be the next editor of the Times
  22. Keep us out of the drop zone and beat Dale finish higher than 15th ill be happy. I see this as a really risky move appointing Holden by those in charge. They seem to think we can't go down. Keep playing like we are and gifting teams goals and points and we can Holden has been dropped right in it. Lacks experience, Players will know he's on his way at end of season so possibly won't be fussed about playing for him. and we desperately need a home win to boost morale....With all of the first choice back line out..and a top scorer who isn't scoring
