  1. I used to do that for shirts until it was impossible (I think) to buy one without the sponsor. I don't think I ever had Bovis on a Latics shirt even when it looked weird without the sponsor on the "Celtic" green one... I used to buy them all and collect them but nowadays the inlaws tend to buy them me for Xmas/Birthday pressies. (In the unlikely event any of them are reading this, there's a new onecoming out soon, hint, hint... )
  2. This may be a moment but what about the exit poll prediction compared with the actual results: is that the most accurate exit poll ever??? It looks like I didn't need to sit there from 7pm til 1.30am (PST) watching it all unfold...
  3. Swing: Labour -12% Con +5%, LibDem -1% Consistent with exit poll...
  4. First result in Sunderland: Labour win. No surprise there
  5. As they say in some parts, from hero to zero to hero...
  6. 20 years ago to the day! Just spotted this in the Chron.. http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-fea...re-made-of-this I echo a lot of their thoughts: I wouldn't go to Wembley until Latics played there!
  7. 127,619 and I don't even live there (any more)!
  8. Dale can have "League 2 Runners Up 2009/10" on their shirts now... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/e...v_3/8621001.stm
  9. I read a couple of Hemingway's books when we lived in France. They had a few at the local library. A Farewell To Arms was good. Back to the OP, started to read Bright-Sided http://www.barbaraehrenreich.com/brightsided.htm (How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America) by Barabara Ehrenreich but I have such a short attention span it's rare I finis....
  10. Cheers for all the responses. We didn't go to the gig and we're $90 better off... Result! I'll watch the DVDs instead... Thanks again.
  11. AND I would see how Andy Goram is fixed for a second comeback at Latics...
  12. Remember it well! Their fans demonstrated outside the ground after the match. I'm not surprised - we were lucky if we ever scored at that place. It always seemed to be 2-0 to Sheff Utd season after season.
  13. Looking for some opinions about Russell Brand's stand up show. He's coming to Seattle in a week or two. Has anyone seen him live? Is he worth seeing? Why do I think he's a to$$er? Answers please! Cheers, Mart
  14. I take it Mike's going then? That's good it means you should end up near the front.
  15. It's probably due to the sense of relief at being "almost" safe from relegation. One defeat in how many matches? Shows how fickle we all are!
  16. I agree with you 100% but others think differently: http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=29429
  17. 1-0 We could do with County winning that... Then ALL their fans can become Latics fans!
  18. LOL! "Punx Not Dead", eh? 2 gigs in a week?!?! Jammy barsteward... I was telling someone at work about Tenpole Tudor last week... # Over the hill with the swords of a 1,000 men # Pedant's corner: Are you drinking again cos the Alarm are plying the Academy with booze?!? Have a good time mate.
  19. Cheers Johnny. My mate saw the Buzzcocks in Sydney a few weeks (or maybe months) ago. I'll keep my eye out for them. I think I saw an ad for PiL recently, I'll check. Thanks again.
  20. That line up of covers sounds brilliant. I'm hoping SLF come to Seattle again on on their next US tour. Seen them here twice after they got the band back together and one memorable gig in San Fran with andyb100 off here.
  21. I know a few who have City as their second team. And they would never support Latics... We could offer them our ST discount - at least it will give them a laugh in these dark times (for them)!
  22. I looked at my calendar today and thought 8th April was a special date but couldnt remember why. Thanks to the OP for reminding me! Yes, I was there. Similar memories to Prozac's - went on Barlows, listening to Palace beat Liverpool etc. A great day out but spoiled for me cos our seats were in the corner of Platt Lane right against the Main Stand fencing near some reds (I'll be polite today I know they're hurting ) We'd been to Maine Rd loads of times and we chose Platt Lane to be behind the goal. Anyway, loads of reds in with Latics fans and pockets of fighting after each ManU goal. Relief in the end when Ooh Roger equalised. I thought we "scored too early" with Earl's goal as they were shocked how good we were. They thought they just had to turn up and they would beat us. Loved giving it the reds after Marshall's goal - my mate thought I'd lost it! Went in the Kippax for the replay. Gutted but nowhere near as gutted as I would be at the Wembley semifinal. Enough said.
  23. Reminds me of a certain legend by the name of Earl Barrett.
