  1. To be fair to Sharpe, and I am not his biggest fan by any stretch, he did push for a deal with Hyypia. It was Ian Stott who pulled the plug on the deal behind Sharpe's back.
  2. On the topic of Cassidy, a scout from Wigan was at the game today specifically to watch him. He asked the steward to let him out of the main stand upper not long after Cassidy was subbed.
  3. I'm pretty sure Vonk was only here on loan. He seemed a solid centre half to me. Sheff United came in for him while we were still trying to scrape some money together to make a bid.
  4. I am not a member of the trust as I view this 'fan on the board' as a dictatorship. It appears Barry is not accountable to trust members and serves merely as a mouth-piece to Corney. The fans' views are not represented by this man. His role is just to patronize the fans. I am sure this was not one of the goals of the trust during the dark days. It defeats the object of a representative on the board.
  5. I seem to remember Neal Trotman benefiting from a lengthy loan spell at Halifax. Dale Stephens went out to Rochdale and came back chomping at the bit.
  6. I enquired about this the other week at the ticket office. I was told by the friendly lady that there isn't a designated game for this scheme this season. So basically, you can use the voucher for any league game. Hope that helps.
  7. Andy Hughes played for Reading and Norwich in the championship
  8. We've got a much tougher game in just two days time, I'd have thought he'd have been saving the big guns for then. Tonight's game was mainly about giving fringe players/ youngsters a game and also a chance to run the rule over trialists. I didnt have a clue who half our players were and half the team in the 2nd half didn't have numbers on their shirts. It'll be interesting to read Bugby's match report tomorrow
  9. I don't honestly see what Bugby's issue is with the anonymity of the trialists. The club must have dozens of players on trial over the course of the season who we never hear about. E.g. youngsters released from Premiership clubs etc. Maybe if he'd have bothered asking a few members of the crowd, he may have discovered the identities of these players, as quite a few posters on here seemed to have an idea who they were.
  10. I rate Fleming, I think he has a lot of potential but he does need to eliminate the "rash" decision making from his game. Personally I think he has taken the easy option going back north of the border to Dunfermline instead of staying at BP to fight for his shirt.
  11. Franny will have fun pronouncing those names before kickoff
  12. seem to remember whitehall 'skinning' desailly and hitting the inside of the post with a shot towards the chaddyend with ed de goey (or however you spell his name) rooted to the spot, the ball bounced out with duxbury ready to pounce and smash it in the net, when he got man handled blatantly but as usual the ref ignored it
  13. Voted yes, I'd give him a new deal but on reduced terms with get-out clauses. I think he'd easily get 15-20 goals next season if he stays.
  14. Currently on 71, although a few of the grounds I've visited have been when I've been watching England, so not sure if they count.
  15. We had poor crowds back in the 80's when we were playing in a higher division so its nothing new (until the "pinch me season"). Back then the Scouse teams were winning everything and City were in the same league as us for a few seasons, so that can't be used as an excuse. People may call supporters of Huddersfield and Burnley "inbred" etc. but at least they all support their local team unlike the majority of people in Oldham. Although if you looked at percentage of home support towards away following Oldham would probably fair the best, the away support is excellent for such a "poorly" supported team.
  16. Hit the nail on the head Rocky Latic, the behaviour of those scrotes was appalling. A group of them were running away from stewards/police after the game and barged past myself and a couple of friends on Sheepfoot Lane and pathetically found the whole thing exciting and amusing, absolute numptys of the highest order.
  17. I wonder what happened to the "£6M" that the council received from the sale of Westwood Athletics Track to B&Q for the development of their superstore? IIRC the proceeds from this sale were supposed to contribute towards financing a new stadium for both football and rugby as well as building a replacement athletics venue. As Coco says £250k was spent on the pitch and this came out of the £6M kitty as did a few rent holidays that the TTA ultimately paid back. But some of this money seems to have mysteriously evaporated.
  18. We had a 15% sell on clause on Fitz and raked in an unexpected windfall of somewhere in the region of £180k IIRC
