  1. Taylor has played well defensively at full back and usually puts a shift in. He hasn't offered much offensively when compared to say like McLaughlin on the other flank.
  2. Good to hear from Uncle Simon. And I echo the sentiments, this is the kind of thing we need to hear more of to create some unity and some trust.
  3. I hold my hands up for cynicism and doubting the authenticity of this letter. I think this whole sorry episode has highlighted the huge level of discord and distrust between the club and fans and between fans themselves. I fail to see what has been gained by publishing these letters. Particularly as the couple had originally claimed that they wished to remain anonymous. Why not keep it that way?
  4. What a pair of gullible mugs they both must be. If they exist that is.
  5. I take solace from the fact Port Vale host Bolton next. It's far from a dead rubber game for Bolton, who will need a win themselves to secure automatic promotion.
  6. Think he's currently on 17, Pog's record is 18 in the league.
  7. The blunts fans had a similar attitude the other week. They used every excuse under the sun when they didn't get 3pts rather than acknowledge we have a stubborn defence and aren't pushovers. They've soon changed their tune now that our Bolton victory has secured them the title and some of them see their point secured here as a point gained in the context of things.
  8. Agree with all of this. Kelly tried to bin Wilson off to Notts County and Robinson also left him on the sidelines. Yet in both of Shez's spells Wilson has been one of the first names on the team sheet. He's a steady eddie and Shez obviously appreciates this as did LJ who signed him. I definitely think Shez has got the best out of him and it would be good if he stays on next season.
  9. Absolutely disgraceful if it's true. There's a clip of a few burly Vale fans kicking off in response to it on footy away days on Facebook.
  10. Who is responsible for recruiting these kids though? Is it TP? Or do we have a dedicated youth scout? Or is it both? If TP isn't recruiting these kids he can only work with what he's got. If they're not good enough to step up to the first team we can't keep players on the pay roll for sentimental reasons.
  11. We must have conceded at least half a dozen goals at home from direct free kicks during the Dave Penney season. I still have nightmares of the one Robbie Williams scored for Huddersfield. You could have driven a bus through that gap Brill left with his wall.
  12. Not trying to defend dangerous Dave here but I believed he had a deal set up to bring Jordan Rhodes in on a season long loan. Huddersfield came in at the last minute and blew us out of the water with a bid of around £300k.
  13. To think we paid £65k?of the money we received from Eardley's sale for somebody who couldn't trap a bag of cement, couldn't pass water, couldn't catch a cold and ran like he had lead boots on. Makes me shudder thinking about it.
  14. He wasn't brilliant by any means but you couldn't fault his effort.
  15. We did have a goal chalked off during that game. Can't remember if it was Jepson or Starbucks. Whoever it was nearly broke Pat McGibbon's leg (Wigan centre half) in the process. We swapped Starbuck for Adie Littlejohn IIRC. Think we got the best part of the bargain. Remember one game, it was against Plymouth actually, where there was a sarcastic chant of 'Starbuck for England' and he came over clapping. I'm convinced he thought it a genuine chant.
  16. Not got a bad word to say against Rocket Ronnie. Not after his brace in the 2 nil win at Grimsby in the last game of the season back in '98. We played away somewhere a few years after where Ronnie was on the coaching staff. We were singing 'where's yer rocket gone? Where's yer rocket gone? And he enjoyed the banter.
  17. Thanks for replying underdog. I read somewhere recently that Stoke were getting rid of their old scoreboard/video screen as they are filling in the corner it occupies as part of their stadium expansion. I think Port Vale may have been eyeing it up though. It may well be that it's obsolete now as I think they've had it in place for a few years. It just made me think, bearing in mind the sum of money in the pot, something like that may be a better option to consider rather than a brand new scoreboard like Bury's miniature one.
  18. Underdog, have the club/trust looked into the possibility of buying a cheaper second hand scoreboard from a club redeveloping their ground or moving to a new stadium? Rather than purchasing an expensive all singing all dancing brand new one or a cheaper limited brand new one.
  19. Not meaning to be pedantic but I thought 'money can't be touched' and 'ringfenced' meant exactly the same thing. Obviously this was not the case if Corney had already spent the funds on another project.
  20. Looking at the form table in the games played this year we are 5th yet we are still depending on favours. Just emphasises how deep in trouble we were under robbo.
  21. Shrewsbury have picked up 2 points from 3 games against teams beneath them since they beat Charlton. Theyve got Bolton next up followed by a trip to Bristol Rovers.
