  1. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the main 'sports' outlet ie. BBC, Sky etc all use PA services for footy games, hence the reason that both SSN and BBC live text had us 3-0 at one point...and both have the 4 subs thing. So it doesn't necessarily mean that several different correspondents saw it, just that they take the info from the same single source. Still being there I only remember them making 3. Whether the confusion over our sub late on when they confused the numbers and announced the sub twice has played a part in the reporting I don't know.
  2. On the subject of Accy I've had some meetings with the club over the past couple of weeks and my company will be commencing a large fundraising effort over the next 4 weeks to raise as much as possible for the club. I will post the details shortly.
  3. Think if they were this thread would end up crashing all kinds of servers.
  4. You might change your mind after a December fixture at Ice Station Zebra.
  5. Yep they owe the tax man and actually came to an agreement a few months (?) ago to pay him by installments over the preceeding 12 months. Tax man has now decided he's had a change of mind and wants it in 4 weeks (extended to 8 weeks by the courts). So yes right they should pay, but...
  6. [quote name='Stitch_KTF' date='Aug 11 2009, 17:18 PM' post='295913' Whilst all my posts on this thread have been rushed everybody else has seemingly found it to be coherent. Not really Stitch, the reason it makes no sense whatsoever is that your proposal makes no business/football sense whatsoever. Fair play having a go, but as you've since clarified what you meant in other posts I'll leave it there.
  7. Can you just clarify what you mean by this...it makes no sense whatsoever?? I have a feeling you've confused a lot of information together.
  8. Registering in advance looks pretty common sense to me to make sure the system doesn't get abused.
  9. As it says in the BBC article, the scheme are run in the main by one of 3 operators. Ours was run by N and P (check the commercial partner page of O/S) and in all honesty there is no real difference in the rates. The only reason clubs like Stoke and Norwich have 'had' that amount of money is purely due to sheer numbers of their fans/amount of money that has been put in. That isn't because the deal the club/fans were getting was any better than the one we had, just purely because loyalty to the club overtook pure economic benefits (in better general conditions). So in answer to your question, we have/had one it's nothing new and in the current circumstances there is absolutely no point going back to it as the rates are just no where near competitive enough. Best that people start using Teamcard and provide the club with an income that way.
  10. Well done on the club for holding an open forum, aimed at all parties and so held at a neutral venue between the 2 sites. I think you'll find the nominal charge is there to ensure people don't just take large numbers of tickets and then not turn up...it won't be going to any fighting fund, more likely some to the venue and the rest..who cares!
  11. Which is what happens at a large number of grounds these days, is the way forward for the new ground.
  12. Well, he's actually from Stoke, so I guess that qualifies him for both
  13. Be tough to get him, but Jay Rodriguez at Burnley fits the bill perfectly. Would be reliant on them strengthening their forward line by a lot, otherwise he will get plenty of premiership appearances this season. Also their Albanian international Besart Berisha is looking at a loan deal with a 2nd div German side. He ripped England B to bits at turf moor 3 years ago, maybe worth a look, can play striker or out wide.
  14. I know we hammered Watford in the 90-91 season (i think), Andy Ritchie backheeling past a young David James...could that be it?
  15. When Sharp scored 4, Luton were wearing their away kit which was orange (and very garish) at the time...over to prozac for dates etc
  16. Not at all. However, I think there is a difference between taking either optimist/pessimist pov and just negative reporting when a 'development' is muted. The article wasn't exactly balanced. I do find it sad that we have to rely on an 'out of town' newspaper in the Advertiser to take a more positive lead (even if it is balanced) when it comes to Latics news.
  17. if that amount was being raised would it not be a better idea (if it is being donated to the club) that it goes to providing x number of free junior season tickets?
  18. Once again they have to take the negative line straight away - do they realise how depressing that is? Personally don't think boycotting is the answer, by the time any 'impact' is totted up this will have passed. Much better for all fans to bombard the chron with emails/letters outling disappointment with them for always taking the negative line when it comes to announcing development news re the club...after all if 'Oldham Works' as their new campaign says then ANY development is central to the town. Let they have to spend the time sifting through those.
  19. Good thoughts, but a non-starter due to all kinds of reasons, most of which have already been mentioned. To which I'd like to add that aswell as the 'big' premiership teams, Burnley have had a relationship with a couple of American clubs for the last few years (they are heading out there on pre-season again). they are building these relationship because that is how play recruitment from US will work. If such a scheme (college recruitment) was a goer it is certainly something they would be looking at, along with all the other premiership clubs. They aren't, not because it hasn't been thought of, but because it just isn't an option. On a different note, I was approached last year by a Brazilian businessman/agent looking to set up a deal with some young brazilian players from outside the main cities in Brazil who tend to get missed (due to geographic reasons) by the bigger clubs in Brazil coming over to english clubs for trials etc. Sounded good in principle - bit messy when it comes to the third-party ownership stuff. ps. Also, I think there is plenty of decent talent in the local area/non-league that should be a bigger priority. Plus the FA should look at the rules when it comes to developing young players and give the smaller clubs the incentive/funding to develop english youngsters with a nationally designed programme ensuring standards are top at all clubs - gives england the best chance in the future. Leave the big premiership clubs to get on with their own thing.
