  2. 14 great games Oldham athletic by rick Holden and Dave Moore. Ordered a few days back and got told it would be here in jan. It arrived two days later and for any of you out there like me are in your mid 30s onwards is a must read as it brings back lots of fantastic memories. If any younger fans who were unfortunate not to be around in the late 80s early 90s it will let you into what a bit of success with a fantastic team was all about. Stories from rick Holden are fantastic with lots of anecdotes throughout from him and also fans views on the games. Looking at the team sheets throughout and you notice a very steady, solid team who in today's market would be worth a fortune. Rick Holden likens the way we played at times to the way Barcelona play now! High praise from our crazy winger. A must read for all Latics fans.
  3. When they scored their fans were like we were when the fifth went in against Peterborough last season!!! With one over enthusiastic Scotsman jumping the fence and running towards the england fans in his kilt followed by about 30 stewards and coppers! I've never felt more of a smug proud Englishman when Rooney got the third and a stunned silence and dawning reality within the Scotland fans fell upon them.
  4. Just in from the match, (live in Scotland) sat in the Scotland end and I can honestly say I've never been to a match anywhere where there is such hatred towards the other team and fans. I got dogs abuse throughout so glad to be home In one piece!!!!! England fans were excellent throughout, they must have been taking lessons from the athleticos!
  5. I know these views aren't popular at the moment but next Tuesday when I am at Celtic Park with 4,500 other England supporters belting out the national anthem I will get to experience something special. Make that 4,501. Got myself a ticket in the Scotland end. God help me!
  6. Remember that, we were sat in the upper part of the stand and IIRC they only had three stands! Also remember the 5-0 although young, I'm sure I missed the first two goals as we were trying to get in!
  7. I was in the burnden terrace for this and nearly got my head kicked in when we scored!!!
  8. Barnsley away, we won 1-0 (promotion season) I urge any younger Latics fans to go on YouTube and find it as it will send shivers down your spine when you see us celebrate. Amazing. Just tried to YouTube it but can't see it, anyone got a link?
  9. This sounds like a "for anyone who is going to pay on the day, let's all stick together in the same stand" sort of comment. And I like it!!
  10. He's brought in players who were possibly stalling at their previous clubs and actually want to play and further themselves, giving them a licence to prove what they can do and this season it seems to be paying off. Rather like one of our ex managers who didn't do too bad a job for us!!!! Not for one minute am I saying he's like big joe but he is certainly giving us a team who really could do special things if they stay together. Now, where's that plastic pitch????
  11. Nick Henry v arsenal in cup Tommy wright v Leeds in the cup (at home 85/86/87) volley from a tight angle Roger palmers chip away at city when he got his hattrick
  12. I'm dead against it, we score, we celebrate, we glance at the linesman for a split second, we carry on celebrating. They joy is new and raw. If this comes in we won't celebrate as we should, when the goal goes in we will be waiting around for someone to object and the joy of the moment will be gone. Not for me.
  13. Daughter. Daddy can I please have the new Anna and Elsa dolls from frozen????? Dad. Sorry sweetheart, they're sold out everywhere but I've got you this instead, this is George and he will sort all the troubles out in arundel, no probs!!!!! Money spinner, mark my words.
  14. I reckon Latics should start making George Elokobi dolls (like action man ones) complete with headband, mobile phone connected to twitter 24/7 and a DIY kit as they aren't quite ready yet! They would definitely be as popular as the yard dogs were in the late 80s. (Ask your dads)
  15. Just wondering what all the Latics fans are going to do with the new home shirt they bought with his name on the back of it?????............. Oh, Sorry forgot. Don't want to open another can of worms at this hour!!!
  16. And on that note I am going to YouTube that moment right now and for the one millionth time get goosebumps! Good morning all...
  17. The best "kit launch" was when I was young and I used to get my mum to ring the clubshop every night after I got in from school to see if the new kit was out. None of this teaser :censored:e, just a good old phone call then off to Latics to buy it the following morning then wearing it to school that day. It didn't matter what it looked like because it was my new oldham athletic kit.
  18. Anyone know if they will be selling them in sportsdirect shops up and down the country or just local?
