  1. Miller must have been on some coin if that was the tipping point on top of the (unbudgeted and unexpected) televised FA Cup first and second round ties plus prize money.
  2. The point I’m making is that it wouldn’t have been due to a financial embargo as Eyresy was implying. Could have been been an issue at Latics; with the player’s registration or with his agent as to why we couldn’t do the deal.
  3. We signed Sylla in the week before FGR. This was after significant unexpected income from the FA Cup run and during a time when the only other player movement was outwards. I know you have good sources but this doesn’t add up.
  4. From The Independent. Paul Scholes had his managerial interest piqued by Oldham and has not ruled out applying for more jobs in the future. The boyhood Latics fan was interviewed for the position but missed out to caretaker boss Richie Wellens after he masterminded four wins from four matches. Scholes told Press Association Sport: "I had a good chat with Mark (Moisley), the chief executive, and Simon Corney the owner. Talks went very well. "I'm sure they interviewed quite a few people. It was something I was very interested in but Rick Wellens had done so well, they couldn't ignore that. "He's brought a really good style of football, something Oldham fans haven't been used to for quite a while. I lost out but hopefully Rick will take them on and he can be successful." Since ending his playing career in May 2013, Scholes has helped out Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs in coaching positions at Manchester United before focusing on media work.
  5. I think Eyrsey’s a bit pissed off that his imaginary embargo has been lifted to be fair.
  6. Tuesdays and Fridays? We would walk the League!
  7. Really? I’ll take that comment back when you can show me some quotes.
  8. Like I said, my opinion based on what you post on here. I don’t need to read your mind when you provide plenty of written opinion. Totally agree that this is a place for expressing views. It’s also a platform for others to challenge those opinions.
  9. We also beat Reading 4-0 on a Friday night. It was Baltic and they used a tractor to de-frost the plastic pitch with anti-freeze to ensure the game went ahead!
  10. It seems pretty obvious to me. From your posts, it looks like you want us to lose. You clearly have a downer on the owner, manager and Trust. Perhaps you should try watching the games with an open mind - seeing what actually happens as opposed to what will fit your negative agenda? There was a clear foul in the build up to Lincoln’s disallowed goal. Lincoln didn’t batter us for long periods despite having a one man advantage for most of the game. Bunn did get his tactics right and made effective substitutions. We could and should have won the game with good chances at the end. You never know, you might actually enjoy the games if you stop looking for fault and ignoring any positives. Just my opinion.
  11. It all started during the Chris Moore era when we were splashing the cash and Clint Hill signed for us as Latics offered a bigger wage. The Birkenhead Bin Dippers took exception to that especially with our fans coming across like Harry Enfield’s “Loadsamoney” character. Ended well that one didn’t it? In those days, there was a lot of chatter on “Rivals” (JK Latics and the equivalent Tranmere message board) and it spread from that. Ronnie and his boy came later.
  12. That’s a direct quote from Byrne himself. Just what am I twisting?
  13. “I needed to go as well to further my career. That was all it was; there wasn’t anything else to it. But it probably could have been handled a little bit better. It is what it is; that’s football.” A bit of honesty from Jack at last.
  14. Discounting the fish and chip posts, there are probably less football related comments on the Grimsby thread (3-0 away win) than on this one for a match that only a couple of people witnessed. Frankie and the first team must be doing something right eh?
  15. Thanks for calling me a liar. You are too emotionally involved with Jack to listen to other views. Your posts the other day about Byrne were ridiculous and made you sound like a jilted teenager. I’m amazed that you are back for more. The “proof” you want is from conversations with two people with knowledge of the situation. You don’t know me but plenty of others on here do. I’m sorry but I have nothing in writing, nor will I discuss it further and that’s me done with Byrne. I’m sure you and the other usual suspects will trot his name out at regular intervals this season but I’m moving on along with most others. This is a thread about yesterday’s game, not Jack Byrne so I’m out. He’s gone. He doesn’t love you anymore. Probably never did.
  16. Now I remember why I got divorced. Nobody wanted to buy Grealish so he stayed. He had no choice. Maybe that will change in January? West Ham wanted Dmitri Payet to stay. Same with Celtic and later Southampton, with Virgil Van Dijk when he also refused to play. Were the clubs happy they got transfer fees? Possibly, that’s the benefit of contracts for players coveted by other teams, but I’m very sure it wasn’t what they really wanted bearing in mind the riches of staying in the Premier League. Same goes for Coutinho, Suarez, Neymar, Costa and many more at clubs at the other end of the table. Even competitive clubs with deep pockets find it very difficult to keep hold of want-away players. I would say it’s virtually impossible for a skint league 2 club to allow a high earner to be sat in the stands refusing to play rather than doing his job. Even more tricky when he wants out but nobody else wants him and his baggage. Final word is yours.
  17. Ok. I can think of loads but thought I would ask my children while we’re watching the England game. Straight away they rattled off umpteen names from some of the biggest clubs in Europe. They also mentioned Jack Byrne. No doubt you are right though. Generally.
  18. Just keep ignoring that he didn’t want to play for a club in League 2. He got what he wanted with his forced move to the SPL.
