  1. Maybe someone of a similar name? Ages not far aligned though. I'm not referring to the person you are implying though (I know him pretty well).. Plenty on here would know the person to whom I am referring? I'm not going to withdraw my statement though, Apologies if I have got it wrong. Over to you to prove that's the case if you want?
  2. Daughter of a former trust director (several years ago). Could be interesting. Probably bollocks. Look forward to be better informed.
  3. From what I have read in the past, I think Dave understands accountancy. I'm looking forward to your reply Blue. As a starter, I think that "stealing" means taking more out of the club than investing. Go for it my friend with facts rather than the usual bollocks about "asset stripping". If you say that , "massive mistakes have been made", I'm with you.
  4. Not aimed at you MB. Like your posts generally. Not a TTA apologist at all but they didn't buy OAFC for £1 That was Joy and Jarvis pre-administration (from Moore). It cost TTA way more than that (est. £2m to get us out of liquidation) with no assets at all at the time - they had to buy the land later with their own cash for £4m), only the "good name" of OAFC and all it's "footballing" liabilities" including the contracts for Killen; Appleby; Swailes etc.). If they hadn't we would have started at the lowest end of the footballing pyramid. There is plenty of public information to confirm this. They've fucked up agreed, but it has (and will continue to), cost them many millions which they will never recover. Tough shit and caveat emptor. Clearly some really don't understand the term "asset strippers". They will never get back even 25% of the c. £20m what they "invested" even if they sell houses in Oldham at Mayfair/ NYC prices..
  5. Try watching the highlights on LaticsWorld. You will see that our period of domination in yesterday's game came from Gregan beating his man, bringing the ball out of defence and making incisive passes - mainly to Whittaker and Taylor. What wasn't shown on LW were the many examples particularly in the first half where he was winning the ball, beating his man and pinging long accurate balls out to Taylor and Liddell in the wide positions. If that is being cocky, then more of the same please. The best example of his "cockiness" was probably the superb 50 yard pass into the channel which led to Hughes winning the penalty and the Millwall lad getting a red. Meanwhile, Allott is praised for a simple through ball for the 3rd goal. Clearly the guy is marmite to Latics supporters. His detractors see only the mistakes (at a guess, one fifth of the number made by Teflon Stam) while ignoring the massive positive contribution that he makes week in week out. Any team in our League would kill to have Sean Gregan in their side and yet many of our fans can't wait to rip him to pieces. You are right, he probably does think he is too good for us - probably because he is.
  6. The 4th goal was a thing of beauty. Brilliantly designed and superbly executed. Add in that it clinched a seven goal come from behind thriller and that made it even better. It was also testament to the work put in by Shez and the boys in an area where we have been pisspoor for seasons. Hopefully, this means the coaching staff have realised that games can be won by simple routines and drills. Some work on corners would be nice now. I'm surprised though that nobody has mentioned our first goal. It was another deliberate set piece free-kick with Liddell hanging back after the rest charged forward and Maher picking him out with an astute cross behind the runners. Ok so it was a bit scruffy in execution in that it went in off Lidds' chest but it was a well worked move all the same.
  7. Make sure Dan's train is due before you climb up there!
  8. That is correct. Not sure if they are related or not. Maybe they are distantly related but the ever-reliable Wikipedia doesn't make that clear.
  9. Not really. There clearly are a few who use Wikipedia though.
  10. You can't deny it. She had a Real Love and Affection for Latics and followed them All Around the World even when we were Down in The Depths.
  11. I think you will find she was Rochdale's answer to the legendary Lisa Stansfield.
  12. Guys - I've just checked and the PM facility is working fine now.
  13. Exile's new printing Company will be a bit miffed with all these people mocking the Rochdale Ticket quality.
  14. It certainly used to be but there seem to be quite a few Clubs taking this approach now. I suppose there is such a glut of players available at the moment and it makes sense to see if they "fit in" before committing. Skill counts for a lot but attitude is massively important as we discovered with JJ and Ricketts.
  15. I think those were the paraphrased words of Alex Ferguson. His quote was something along the lines of, "I think that Oldham Athletic is the only other Club that Paul would contemplate playing for."
  16. I think that's over and done with mate. In the meantime, I hope he likes the picture of me and my best mate from the other night. We were a bit drunk but hopefully, he'll get in touch with me.
  17. No worries Alec. Thanks for being big enough to say that.
  18. Spot on Dan. I said last night that we need to practise the multiball thing in training since the players seemed unaware of what was going on at times. Glad to read that this will be happening.
  19. What a stupid comment. If you had young children who used this Site Alec, then maybe you would look at it in a different way. You may also look a little deeper into the potential pitfalls of the internet. Like it or not, OWTB tries to cater for all - not just middle-aged blokes like you and I. Rummy made a valid point and was being cautious. You have chosen to make it wider than that simply by misunderstanding what he was attempting to do. Your later remarks make you look ridiculous in my opinion.
  20. There were none there at all. Apparently, they've heard Wardlelatic has moved to the Main Stand so they're all in The RRE this Season.
  21. As a slight aside, Blackburn's Paul Warhurst was in the Main Stand last night.
  22. And your comments were a million miles away from what Rummy was trying to do. As has been said, he was attempting to find out more about the poster before unsuspecting people sent emails. There was no assumption of guilt (Matt has said he thought the guy was genuine) but the Town Fan was asked for a link. Some credentilas if you like. He still hasn't provided a link which suggests he hasn't checked on here to find the "genuine" replies to his questions. Away fans are welcome on here as long as they operate within the Site rules and regulations. The simple fact is though that since the demise of Rivals, the fans of most Clubs seem to prefer their own specific "insular" Sites like ONIGP; AVFTT etc. I agree that something like the old Rivals is sadly missed although there are still alternatives like 606. As for the comment "the Club has thrown its lot in here so the choice is pretty slim", I really don't understand the point you are making. The Club previously "threw its lot" behind the Official Messageboard but that didn't stop JKL; ISZ; OWTB or loads of other Messageboards operating and being just as, if not more succesful than the Official one. The choice is still there but at the moment, most seem to use OWTB. Next year, it may be another Site. That's the thing - we all have a choice and fashions change. Unfortunately Alec, you have made this about not welcoming opposition fans (and a couple of side issues) as opposed to an honest attempt by Rummy to protect some of our younger or more unsuspecting OWTB Members from someone whose motives may not have been sincere. "What on earth could the possible harm be"? Well clearly you still don't get it do you.
