  1. The clue is in the title, “Best”. Amateur pub footballers don’t count.....
  2. Andrea Mancini? Which leads onto, best overseas [not inc Eire] eleven? I'm struggling a bit.... I must be missing some decent ones somewhere...? Les Pogliacomi Gunnar Halle Tore Pedersen Michel Vonk ??? Toddy Orlygsson Jermain Johnson Dean Furman ??? Clyde Wijnhard Shefki Kuqi
  3. FFP can - to a degree - be overiden by "Football Fortune Income", in effect owner or owners gifting (not loaning) money to the club's budget. Maybe Salford have received cash injections that allow their modest attendance income to be bolstered. It was here that I was hoping to see AL increase our budget. Alas, that doesn't seem to have transpired.
  4. So, we're 2 1/2 weeks from the big KO. For the uninitiated, it's now time to begin having a butchers at tactics and mind games. @Stevie_J will create a thread, within the Prediction League Forum for each game. As soon as he does, you are free to place your Prediction in there at anytime, up until - but no later than - 10 mins before KO. Here's last season's thread for B@stard Rovers (a), a game that was played on 10th Feb Where; 23 Predictions were made in advance of the game, with.... 4 Predictors employing the Late Amendment. 18 were made on the day. 9 Predictors forgot. What will you do? Go early, or wait to see the form, what the weather looks like, who's on the Teamsheet, or even how many away fans look to be in the Chaddy End, before making your Prediction? This season see's the introduction of the email to text message reminder service. If you think this will help you, please read the following post; What you waiting for? Sign up now. 5. So do I Mike. That’s cheered me up too. While you’re feeling positive, fancy joining Prediction League too?
  6. I remember him at Sheff Weds. Ipswich released him last summer, he had no club for 6 months, then Chesterfield took him on after Xmas and he played twice. I hope Rhodes knows something the rest of us don't.
  7. So, it wasn't because he was injured then? He was available - but for whatever reason - couldn't catch he team?
  8. Who's being negative? I've asked a perfectly reasonable question, for which I don't have the answer?
  9. Why did he only play 2 games for Chesterfield, a team that finished bottom of League 2 last season? Can anyone enlighten me?
  10. This is the semblance of a Plan; But we are yet to hear anything on these topics from Mr. Lemsagam, bar witness another intake of players from the French lower leagues; The pitch wasn't relaid; The Budget no bigger or smaller than last season; Players Paid late; There is no news on the fans bar and as far as I am aware Tony Philliskirk is still suspended? No, tub thumping statements about going up are definitely not Plans.
  11. If we're yet to convince you to sign up, today I'm going to go straight for the heart strings, with the adorable OWTB Cup draw. Made by @Stevie_J & the Little_J's from Scottish Borders Gate before each and every round; The 2017/18 OWTB Cup was won by @oafcmetty who beat @aidan_latics 2-0 in a replay in an all Championship Final. @oafcmetty's route to the Final witnessed some stupendous Predicting, particularly in the Q/F; 2nd round [round of 16] 3/3 Scunthorpe (a) @BP1960 0 @oafcmetty 0 Correct Prediction; Scunny 0 Latics 2 [HT 0-0] First Scorer: Patrick McEleney Attendance: 3,715 replay 10/3 Bury (a) @oafcmetty 8 @BP1960 3 Correct Prediction; Bury 2 Latics 2 [HT 2-1] First Scorer: Craig Davies Attendance: 5,904 Quarter Final 30/3 Wigan (a) @oafcmetty 8 @lookersstandandy 4 Correct Prediction; Wigan 3 Latics 0 [HT 1-0] First Scorer: n/a Attendance: 10,625 Semi Final 14/4 Gillingham (h) @oafcmetty 6 @GravityGrave 5 Correct Prediction; Latics 1 Gillingham 1 [HT 1-0] First Scorer: Duckens Nazon Attendance: 3,850 Final 28/4 Doncaster (h) @oafcmetty 2 @aidan_latics 2 Correct Prediction; Latics 0 Doncaster 0 [HT 0-0] First Scorer: n/a Attendance: 5,297 replay 5/5 Northampton (a) @aidan_latics 0 @oafcmetty 2 Correct Prediction; Northampton 2 Latics 2 [HT 2-1] First Scorer: George Edmundson Attendance: 6,511 Under 3 weeks to the season kicking off now. 12. Frankie’s interview. Stern again. I’m comforted by it. He sounds hard a fk. I reckon it’s a good thing. So long as AL isn’t being a prime bell end with recruitment, I’m hopeful we might compete.
  13. There are Englishmen in that dressing room that can't understand Gerrard & Baxter!
  14. I think we should start singing "Allez les Bleus" from now on...... .....like this... from a crouching position first..... https://www.thesun.co.uk/video/football/france-fans-sing-allez-les-bleus-as-their-side-reach-fifa-world-cup-semi-finals/ [Please forgive the source]
  15. Woah there Rex..... How many of those 22 games did Doyle & Holloway start in?
  16. He'd be great with someone like Craig Davies or Aaron Holloway to play alongside. Doh!
  17. Nearest train station is Stroud, ground is about 20 mins in a cab from the station / half hour on a bus. Remarkably, there's a direct train from Paddington! Who knew? Albeit, only every 2 hours. These look best; To/from Stroud/Paddington OUT 10:15 ARR 11:44 JOURNEY 1:29 RTN 19:36 ARR 21:06 JOURNEY 1:30 Alternatively you can change at Swindon. Who's in?
  18. Today, I thought we'd begin having a look at the OWTB Cup. Think of it as the FA Cup of Prediction League. 2017-18 witnessed a record 50 Predictors sign up, so the format of the early round(s) was a group stage. A bit like the World Cup, but with no seeding. All divisions mixed up by chance in a draw that is taped and broadcast on OWTB to ensure no foul play. More on that later. OWTB Cup games begin in January and end in May and coincide with standard League games, the schedule of which @Stevie_J will inform us of in good time. Potential replay weeks - for later knockout rounds - are also accounted for, such is the excellent administration. This means that while Predicting for standard League points, you will be competing against 1 other Predictor in the OWTB Cup at the same time during these weeks. It makes for interesting tactics & mind games, something we'll look at next week. During 2017-18, the following games counted as OWTB Cup group stage games; Date - Opponent - Correct Prediction 13/1 Rotherham (h) 1-1 [HT 1-1], Craig Davies, 4,775 20/1 Peterborough (a) 0-3 [HT 0-0], n/a, 5,072 27/1 Plymouth (h) 1-2 [HT 0-2], Anthony Gerrard, 4,274 3/2 Bradford (h) 2-1 [HT 1-0], Cameron Dummigan, 5,526 10/2 Blackburn (a) 2-2 [HT 0-2], Duckens Nazon, 13,655 Following all group games, the tables stood as following, with group winner and the 6 best group runners up progressing to the 2nd round, or Round of 16. You can't deny it's well run can you? Come on, get yourself signed up. It's well worth it. Pay the £10 entrance fee via PayPal to stevie_j@owtb.co.uk (Please note the underscore) with your OWTB username in the comments box and your name will appear in the sign up Predictor List below; Then, keep popping into this thread over the next 3 weeks, when I'll complete the OWTB Cup story, demonstrate the tactics & mind games and have a bit of fun with 'Predictors in Focus'.
  19. For the OWTB 2018/19 Prediction League, we've got a solution for that;
  20. Well, I was hoping I might be able to make this post after England winning the World Cup, alas I'll have to make do with the after glow of an heroic S/F defeat. With one to game to go, the OWTB World Cup Predictor comp looks tied up as far as the winner goes, @Ricardo has an unassailable lead. It's a dog fight for 2nd and 3rd spot between @danjlund5 [can't find exact OWTB username] , @Gaz_Oafc, @mick26, @astottie, @RyanC98 [can't find exact OWTB username] & @latics jan. Best of luck to you all. Regardless of how you've fared, hope you've all enjoyed it. For those who haven't participated before; @Ricardo, @danjlund5, @Gaz_Oafc, @RyanC98, @latics jan, @cstotty18, @laticsmarra @Magic Mikey & @Brisbaneblue ......and those who have, but not for some time @mick26 [2011/12], @maddog [2011/12] @Kusunga_Is_God [2015/16], please visit the OWTB 2018/19 Prediction League Marketing thread, where I'm sure you'll be convinced to sign up.
  21. ....I read that to mean, back in the UK from Cape Town, in time to work at Leicester again - as one of their corporate hosts? As opposed to at Chapel Road showing our lot how to head a ball.....?!?!
