  1. glad you got home safe and I agree with your comments about the game . I thought it was a bit of daylight robbery to be honest. Thought you panicked after the sending off, bad error from KJ to keep two up front and our subs changed the game. I think your comments on hughes are a bit' take the moral high ground' but not unusual on here from both home or away fans. None of us is aware of what errors we may commit in the future and what their consequence may be. Got to say well done for the response to Ernie's applause and thanks Good luck for the rest of the season.
  2. I think this is a point that seems to have been ignored on many of the threads tonight. Millwall panciked when the man got sent off and Jackett dropped a cod by leaving 2 men up front and giving us more space in midfield which Whittaker and Taylor exploited to the full. However, whereas before Allot and Maher played side by side 30 yards adrift of the forwards and passed the ball sideways to each other and the back 4, Whittaker took the ball forward making their back 4 come out. Hughes came deeper to receive the ball causing the same effect and basically it all fell into place, great finshing and a brill free kick. Absolutely fantastic comeback and result but lets not forget we were 2nd best by a distance for 60+ minutes. Will be a different side on Tuesday me thinks.
  3. I thought the drum sounded really good today and beforehand i was a bit apprehensive about it. The atmosphere was really good, obviously miles louder than the lookers, I've lost my voice and my youngest has been going round all night singing'Sit daahn shaaht ap!
  4. Sorry Singe the problem was obviously with my lack of brain power. Is the only telegraph league thier Oldham fans one then?
  5. Never seen a better worked free kick ever.and will never seen a better worked, better timed free kiick ever in the future.
  6. I heard someone in the RRE having a word with a steward after the game as they weren't happy with their seats and the steward said they could change and just ask at the office. It was my first time in the RRE after years of the Lookers and I was quite happy. dead good view and the atmosphere was really positive. I still would prefer a side on view but expect to be quite happy where I am until the new stand is built. Could feel a bit of rain occasionally even though we were 2/3 of the way back so if we get a blowy one come November it might get a bit bleak!
  7. Very well done to you both, that's a tremendous effort. One problem You do realise that you are now the lucky charm and will have to go through exactly the same preparation before every home game don't you?
  8. I thought the applause beforehand was very moving and gave me a shiver up my spine. All the singing that went with it was fantastic. As I was in the RRE RHS I couldn't see the Millwall fans but they seemed to onserve it well, did they join in?
  9. Singe Don't know if there's a problem with it as i've tried to Join both yours and Stevie J's and it tells me 'that superleague is not recognised'? Are the codes right? Any ideas?
  10. Sorry I'll try to keep up!! I agree with you really. I do think silence is more dignified and applause 'so Italian!' I suppose my view is that applause should be more about celebrating a life well run whereas silence is more about tragedy and life cut short which is what this is. Not everybody would agree with me on this though. Think I might be writing rubbish now so I'll go to bed. Thanks Ernie, our time of need and you were there.
  11. you might be ahead of me on this but I thought the Latics game tomorrow was applause not silence.
  12. Yes it is and it says a lot that it's happening in the 'non league' and that nobody on the governing bodies in either of the 2 Football Leagues he played in has thought of it
  13. that's not bias, sounds like my normal objective reaction to every game. See comments on previous thread about Mark (spit) Clattenburg.
  14. yes i think you're right and that would be more realistic. I'd decided how many points we needed and then where they were most likely to come from if we were going to have to get them.
  15. I expect it to be Crossley and i would probably go with it just but Fleming has looked fine to me and i wouldn't worry with him in and would expect him to be first choice at some point during the season probably after crossley gets injured and the fleming can't be shifted.
  16. For the last couple of seasons I've looked at the fixtures ahead and tried to plot what we have to do to get promotion (yes I know but it's better than working) In the past 7 years the following points totals have got second place 07/08-82 06/07-85 05/06-79 04/05-86 03/04-83 02/03-86 01/02-84 The higher points totals tend to come when someone runs away at the top e.g Wigan or Luton which i think may happen this year so I would say 85 should be the number to look at. I reckon this would mean 25 wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats So 4 sides who we will only get one point off from the 2 games against them Brighton, Huddersfield, Leicester, Leeds 7sides who we will get 3 point off from the 2 games against them Colchester,MKD,Northampton,Millwall,Scunthorpe, Southend,Peterborough, 6 sides who we will get 4 points off from the 2 games against them Bristol R,Carlisle,Stockport,Cheltenham, Tranmere,Walsall 6sides who we will get 6 points off from the 2 games against them Crewe,Hartlepool, Leyton O, Hereford, Yeovil, Swindon The problem last year were the 6 pointers I predicted which just didn't happen as we really struggled against some of the lower teams. The bonuses were against Leeds,Swansea and Tranmere. The crap start always meant we were about 6/7 points behind where i predicted we should be throughout the season and that ended up being the defecit more of less. Anyway lets see what happens, can't wait!
  17. Good point! and i have the same failing memory as you. Yes i think you are right and i remember being a bit gob smacked at the time that the deal seemed to have been done officially as it were. So if it was done with one deal at that time it might have been done with the other. Would be nice to get an extra few quid in for TTA but as Sheff U and Colin were involved I'm not going to get too excited.
  18. If there was a sell on clause in that deal, which i would doubt, I wouldn't have thought the beneficiary was the club - if such arrangements are legal.
  19. Brentford at home on a tuesday night about 5 years ago. An absolute cracker of a game with not a bad foul all night and that man did his level best to ruin it. Should have been suspended after that and never allowed to ref another game!! God 5 years on and he still makes my blood boil!
  20. yep lots of sense in this but I think most people do respect this apart from the occasional one or two, The main oint i'm making which is my 'high horse' one and the one I'm getting all the flak for is why do people have to be abusive nd why do people misbehave? I know I'm a pain and am obviously too old now to be allowed to go but me and the girl ( and the missus) will sneak in on Saturday and you can all swear like f**k as long as I'm not near that bl***ding drum! KTF chaps and thanks for the lively debate. Just going to lick my wounds.
  21. Its the football. Football is about passion, rivalry, emotions, ecstasy, disappointment, anger, dejection, enjoyment..... Really couldn't agree with you more, no point in going otherwise! But why do we have to sing I'm a bastard etc I just think it's not necessary, I don't want it anaesthetised(?) and my lass can sing ee aye ee aye ee aye o with the best of them but why can't we behave? Sorry if I've annnoyed folk, I'll stick to less controversial topics tomorrow like WTF is Taylor doing at left wing.
