  1. Whereabouts was Scholsey sat? in directors/VIP seating? It's good to know the lad still wants to come and watch Oldham, it kinda more than makes up for the disappointment that so called billy big time players like Kilkenny and Wellens over look us. I cant wait till Scholsey pulls on that blue shirt at BP, even if it's only his career swan song. Oldham's good enough for one of Englands finest and I bet his heart jumped as much as mine as Macca's shot sail into the roof of the net.
  2. They will not go up, nor do they deserve to if they dont. Bates to exit taking every scrap of wonga he's ploughed in. Lets see 25K crowds after three seasons in League one. Oh and If Kilkenny wants to come back then....it's NO!!!!!
  3. Loans are exactly what they mean......they are temporary. In the cases of Kilkenny and Bertrand we have had two Championship level players for half a season and if they did well they were almost certainly going to leave us for bigger clubs, especially Kilkenny. Is that right? what are Leeds doin then?
  4. Leeds wont go up and after this I'll laugh so hard. Sour grapes you bet he will when Latics rise above them. Cant wait for Bates to take flight during their third season in League One. He's done it before you know and tries to take all the cash back too.
  5. To be honest I am absolutely sick of players over lookin my club and it's fans then being all nicey nicey about it sayin he's gone to a bigger club. Kilkenny this time around close season begged to walk back to his adoring fans rather than face Brum stiffs or the Championsip clubs that too may have slung him in the stiffs too. Lets not forget the first two months saw an injured and below par Kilkenny and had he been in that Championship side then he'd have remained in the stiffs, but not here, he was made centre stage where our fans played to his ego (and yes FMS he does have an ego). This club to me is bigger than scummy Leeds or back drop Donny. We have three owners who have backed Latics with ambitious plans for the ground and the club. They pulled out all the stops telling Kilkenny he was the number one target, backing it with lots of money. Way couldn't it be bigger here for Kilkenny? he'd be centre stage with a side moulded around him. Watching the stadium take shape whilst taking us to the Championship. Why isn't that bigger than Leeds Scummy United? For once fellow Tic's lets not accept players must leave. How come Denis Irwin got the bird for going to ManUre? bigger club and all that aint it? no it isn't...mine's the best.
  6. That's twice Latics have helped out Kilkenny's career. In the close season he was bleating to come back here so he could escape reserve team football. Latics gave him his wish, the fans sung his praises and played to his ego. Now where is he when the club tolds him we'll build a team around you and here's the money to prove it? gone that's what, well that's the last time Neil. You better hope it all works out.
  7. Kilkenny as plenty of time. Until the end of Jan for a move or sit out his contract at Birmingham. The longer it goes just proves he doesn't want to come to Oldham and only Oldham.
  8. Anyone know of a website where these can be viewed now whilst awaiting LW.
  9. QUOTE: Not sure I like the idea of Kilkenny being our top earner. why not? the lad without doubt is talented, too good for this level and given dedication would be good enough for the lower to mid Prem. He showed yesterday what a class act he is and easilly outshone Thompson or any other Leeds midfield player. I'd love the lad to stay and become the cornerstone to the side. He'd certainly become a Latics legend if he signed on for 3 seasons and we wouldn't lose money on the lad. Alas I think he's Donny bound.
  10. Tierney??? have a missed something here? I can see a pale shadow of the starting line up at Leeds trottin out at Goodison.
  11. Fair do's and yes your right in saying you can't just judge off home form alone. Look at Ipswich for firm evidence, Virtually unstoppable at home absolutely poo away this season. It's all about a good record consistantly and just yet Shez hasn't managed to crack a side that sets out to defend in the main at BP. I don't buy it's all down to the fans either and scared players. Sure thet're young but they are pro's now and it's Shez job to instill that mentallity in them.
  12. 0000 I think you need to calm down a fraction. You're not reading the posts. No one is saying winning away is not important, however if you continually under perform at home your crowds will suffer. The hard core will be tested but remain whilst your fairweather/want to be entertained mob will leave. It's also in football fan nature to crib at losing at home. That doesn't mean to say boo, cos I don't but you just feel bad when the side puts in too many poor performances.
  13. Whilst the 6 game away wins on the spin is fantastic from a crowd (own income) point of view it's far more important to win your home games and collect your odd victories and draws away. Home form will always dictate your crowds in terms of numbers and moans.
  14. Bad...why? they make noise all around the ground...every game win lose or draw. Have done for ages, even when they went down!!
  15. That's a very good point made above about shouting encouragement louder and more often than the moaners. Could you imagine anyone wanting (or having the time) to shout moans at Pompey? No matter what we think of the backward southwest folks they certainly back their side with noise and do you know what?, they probably come out of the ground feeling great to. Maybe a lesson there however it'll take along time to transform BP into Pompey.
  16. The OS says the transfer fee was accepted 2 weeks ago by Brum and that negs had been ongoing ever since. The deal on offer would make NK the highest paid player at the club but as yet no sign of pen to paper. It goes on to say that Donny also have had a offer accepted by Brum. Now from my experience down the years the club putting this statement out into the public domain means they fear he will be offski and want the supporters to know they've pushed the boat out to capture him and NK has himself decided against staying. My never say never attitude says they want the fans tomorrow to try persuade NK for perhaps the last time chance to join us. If NK doesn't join us then the club have on two occasions helped to boost NK playing career and that will be plenty enough.
  17. ED "im taking my lad and the exwife, her fella and his mam(leeds fans)so doubt i shall time for a frestive drinkypoos with you mr 0000." Ed, that's a very liberal lifestyle your disjointed family circle have....blimey!!!! I wouldn't have taken my ex and her mother anywhere, well except where the ex mother in law now resides....the cemetery. On a lighter note, I am driving to Leeds with my compadre Jacko. Anyone care for a lift? 2 seats at £5 each, settin off at 12 noon for a beer before hand. I need replies prior 6 pm this evening.
  18. I thought the figures looked pretty much right. I guessed with the guy next to me that the forest element was 1600 cos he plumped for 2000. It was no way 2000 cos they were spaced out to much. Whilst no home stand was near capacity. Still as opposed to recent crowds I was pleased with the numbers just a pity like always at Latics when the home crowd improves we don't turn on a dazzler....well celebration sunday apart that is!
  19. Smalley will be going nowhere other than a higher league club, end of. At his current age he's twice the product that Haining was and he went on to captain the side!
  20. I should imagine Young Philiskirk got plenty advice from his in the know knowledgeable Dad. To fair regarding that deal, Philiskirk got a belter really. A two year scholar period plus a further 2 years after on full pro terms. There's two ways at looking at these deals where young talents get snapped up. Firstly the selling club as no guarantee that these young lads will kick on with their progress, fall by the wayside like so many promising youngster do and drift out the game for no transfer fee. On the flip side they recieve money for unproven lads in todays game where alot of would be transfer fee's in years gone by are no longer a cert. From the young players point of view, you could argue he'll get first team opportunities more at the lower club but on the flip side he'll be exposed to better standard players at the larger club to learn from. It all swings in roundabouts and the pundits who are paid to voice opinion due to their percieved greater knowledge are as susceptible to events as us fans when deciding what side of the fence they should fall. Before England crashed out of tournaments most told us the influx of talented foreigners would improve our players cos they'll be working day in day out with better standard players. Yet when we fail it's down to the very same foreigners cos not enough of our lads are playing at the top level. I deduce from all that waffle that for some if it works out and they make the grade and become superstars it's because they left that ickle club and played with the good un's and if they don't make it they should have stayed put!........ Nah, I deduce it's cos they were good enough that they made it, regardless where they are. So if they leave the little club and that said club makes a few quid on them (or at least 3 million in Richards case), then it's good business whilst the little club is scratching around for cash.
  21. The official figure was something like 190 odds. Canna remember the exact amount but Gordon announced it.
  22. I've enjoyed Liddell being a Latics player and feel he's played his part and delivered plenty of goals. However I feel this will be his last now after this latest injury.
  23. The Xmas period as always proved to be a deciding factor for most teams that are to gain promotion or get relegated with the odd team coming from nowhere on occasion. This season for Latics the next ten games aren't easy and will define this campaign. The club as just won one mega battle for it's future existance off the pitch but what about on it now. The fixtures read, Southend Utd (away), Forest (home), Walsall (home), Leeds (away), Brighton (home), Yeovil (away), Gills (away), Hartlepool (home), Carlisle (home), and Swansea (away) Some big tough fixtures there, what do we think points wise we'll collect?
  24. Aye it was the Stoke fans that came after the initial flare up in Oldham, whilst the initial flare up saw asians from all over Lancs and Yorks take part against BNP members from anywhere in Britain, with a minority from Oldham, take part. To make out Latics have a reputable firm is quite frankly laughable.
