  1. Every post on an Internet message board is for attention. Other wise people wouldn't post it
  2. I'm not overly bothered about the appointment, tbh. I'm fairly apathetic about it. But all this commotion of chopping and changing the manager again reminded me that I can't actually be arsed going to every home game and on reflection I'd rather have my £270 back
  3. Any one know the club's policy on refunding a season ticket before it's been issued? Genuine question.
  4. The broadcast crew usually fly out to the World Cup, don’t they?
  5. Bobby Reid subject of a £7mil bid from West Brom
  6. Sounds like a 70s spy flick. Maybe they should make a film about OAFC 2017/2018. Cillian Murphy as Richie Wellens... Who else?
  7. The reason I find it hard to believe Wellens was complicit in the Daily rag article is because he couldn't really afford to get sacked if he aspires a career in management. His CV now reads that he's relegated the only club he's managed, a club that hadn't been relegated in 20 years. With a 2.5 mil wage budget (I know they weren't all his signings). Even if things were that bad you'd have thought he'd have just got his head down, try and get some success next season and jump ship when offered a new opportunity. Where does Wellens go from here?
  8. There's two positives if it is Clarke 1) It's not Lee 2) He might be able to get Ripley back
  9. Don't begrudge what Gerrard is tweeting. We know there's rotten issues lingering around the club.
  10. Might as well get this one going Who's available that you would want?
  11. Got to be more than football reasons here you'd have thought.
  12. "Are we paying Queensy Menig £11,650 per week?" No, we're not paying him anything. He left the club in January.
  13. He got them relegated from The Championship (Albeit they were extremely unlucky)
  14. We play them in a friendly on Thursday. But yeah, they’re not “World Cup opponents”
  15. He’s clearly off. I think he’s a talented player. All the best to him. We’ve a culture of losing, that’s been present since about 2010. There’s no reason to not expect us to at least mount an effort to get back up first time round, if we fall short next season, fair enough, but we have to be competing at the top of this league until we do get back up. The fear is regressing into a mid table League Two team until we end up battling for survival in the league like we have in League One. That’s the new owners job to make sure that doesn’t happen.
  16. That's exactly what he means. And it won't help his cause if he doesn't manage to shift these players and he's relying on them next season. He should be giving everyone a clean slate. Just like the fans and Abdallah are willing to give him. I'm glad we've stuck with Wellens, but he needs to appreciate there was a good case for getting rid of him. And the failure to secure the 2 extra points we needed to stay up, from the run of games he had, isn't simply down to "bad" players. If he doesn't admit and address his own shortcomings, he won't last very long as a manager. The players he is calling out here, the majority of those are probably capable of doing a very good job in League Two, but the manager's approach is instrumental in getting the best performances out of those players.
  17. I'd say the optimal position for both is in the hole between the midfielders and the strikers.
  18. Quotes like this irk me a little bit "We’ll probably be keeping the majority of the squad, mainly because clubs won’t come in for players who’ve been relegated,” said Wellens," It's probably a bit too honest but it's the sort of quote that a player like Davies, Dummigan, etc will look at and take offence to. Any of these "undesired" players may very well still be playing for us next season, and we'd prefer it if they're giving 100% for their manager, rather than not being as commited because the manager has no faith in them.
  19. Didn't Wabara retire and become an entrepreneur? Turning over £1mil a week apparently https://versus.uk.com/2017/11/reece-wabara-went-england-u20-international-ceo-maniere-de-voir/
  20. 6pm has been the standard time for announcing signings recently. Usually with a teaser about half an hour before. Drives up traffic and ad revenue for the website.
  21. I think his last league appearance was in 2015. I get the fondness for Jose. I'm just not that excited to see him come in if it means we're selling Byrne and I don't see both fitting in the same team. Especially given that there's no guarantee Baxter will simply pick up where he left off with us. I think that's a fairly optimistic viewpoint. So yeah, I'm firmly on the "hold on to Byrne for dear life" train, even if it means Baxter doesn't sign.
