  1. Players get refused moves all the time. New season, new start, no reason to think he wouldn’t have committed himself. He’s ended up at Mansfield, not exactly a prestigious step up. I’m sure staying with us wouldn’t have been that much of a big deal to him.
  2. I remember that, 3-0 at HT was it? I left to go to the pub. We also played Liverpool in the FA Cup in 2012 on a Friday night where we lost 5-1
  3. Wondering how long it’ll be before people start to admit getting rid of Davies was a bad decision.
  4. I've not really paid much mind to Gerrard's tweets. Has he basically been fired for complaining about being paid late?
  5. Gardner. There were some other decent performances, like Missolou and Branger. But Gardner was the one really trying to drag us back into it.
  6. Surridge worked really hard in the second half and was a handful. Hopefully we can bring in a goalscorer to go alongside him.
  7. Best passer at the club. Not a reliable goalkeeper though.
  8. Doesn't look like we're giving him the chance to build bridges. Bizarrely enough we feel like we're good enough to cast aside a player who could be one of the divisions best. Hopefully Bunn, Abdul and Co come crashing back down to earth once MK put 3 past us, and reconsider their decision.
  9. Either that or I'd go and get checked out for early signs of dementia!
  10. I don’t think there’s too much difference in Clarke and Gerrard’s defensive ability, but Clarke’s attitude and his knack for scoring a few over the course of a season makes it an easy choice between the two.
  11. I don’t really know much about him but 8 league goals in his first season in League Two is decent for a 19 year old. If he’s going to be our main striker hopefully he can kick on and bag more.
  12. On a one year deal https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2018/july/30072018-chris-ogrady-signs/ Can’t say I’m too enthused about it tbh. Then again I wasn’t that enthused about Davies re-signing last season and he was a revelation.
  13. If selling Hamer raises money to make an offer for Doyle then I’m all for it.
  14. Yeah, maybe we’ll have a good 3 weeks too then.
  15. Having squad harmony is great and all but having quality in your team wins you matches. I’ll take a few loose cannons if it gives us the quality to mount a top 7 challenge. Obviously, though, I’m ignorant to what has actually happened. If we’re suspending/getting shot of Byrne, it’d better be for a damn good reason.
  16. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2018/july/24072018-daniel-iversen-signs/ Season long loan. Not been to any preseason games, so don't know what the general opinion is of him, but at 6'4 he ought to be quite commanding in the air. At least that's the goalkeeper sorted.
  17. We signed a player, not a priest. Byrne has the quality to make a real difference next season. I don't see why anyone wouldn't want him playing for us, when he's clearly of a talent level higher than League Two.
  18. I would have preferred Romain Vincelot, who they also signed today.
  19. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2018/july/19072018-taylor-signs/ BECAUSE NEW SIGNINGS WARRANT NEW THREADS.
  20. I'd still rather have good players who underperformed last season than ringing in a bunch of average L2 players. Maybe if we weren't a shambles off the field for most of the season (takeovers, managerial changes, players not getting paid on time on numerous occasions), some of those players would have performed better. There's quality in the squad, no doubt. Although I think we'll regret letting Davies go. Especially if his replacement is Chris fucking O'Grady. That's not a swap I'd have taken if offered.
  21. For anybody who never got around to reading it, as I know some people don't visit the non Latics forums. Here's the thread that Dave made when he was diagnosed. It's a sad read, but also demonstrates Dave's positivity and strength that many of the tributes on here mention.
  22. Awful news. Like many, O4U wasn't someone I knew personally, but because of how much of a prominent and positive member he was on here, it kind of feels like I did know him To put it another way, over the last several months his postings became less and less frequent, and he was very much noticeable by his absence, that's how much apart of OWTB he was. And he will be missed very much on here. Many condolences to his family and friends. He really seemed like a decent bloke.
