Didnt Newport employ Sheridan on a Month by Month basis? I'm sure I read that when it was all being discussed. If so it kind of restricts what Newport think they can get out of it. Especially when it was also reported they gave us permission to speak to him. Can't see this getting far.

And there was at least 23 other teams in that same position, most with more money and better looking prospects that OAFC. Not saying I agree with us not getting anyone but Im looking at this logically.

But surely every manager in every league feels this way but they can only sign those who are willing to come, over other teams. Its not a given that we'll sign these players who are good enough to push us on.

He could have easiliy missed out on the players he wanted or couldnt get the right deal. Id rather him settle and work with what he has than panic buy because he missed out on the targets he actually wanted.

I think its more to do with old school way of thinking, Football is a tribal game and even though its come a long way of the years and its very different now, the mentality is that they should be devoted to the club as much as we are.

Very rarely post on here anymore myself. The website, I presume this is the new official club shop? I'm not one to moan much about Latics but what a shambles, horrid website and unless I am missing something obvious where do I find the Accessories - and I dont mean Coca Cola football league badges. Do we not offer Scarfs and Hats? Or car stickers etc. Im looking around the website for Christmas gifts and unless I want to buy an almost outdated expensive bad quality home shirt there is nothing of interest at all apart froman home made money tin from an old baked beans can. Most of the lads are under contract (again something we should be thankful for) so unless we command a fee I can't see why we would clear half of them out. This team would easily make its way in L2 if the god forbidden happened.

Why not? Who else do you put in? Another manager who will clear the books and bring in fresh faces and we start the merry go round again, except we could end up in League 2 for the next 20 years. Least LJ can keep his nucleus and build around it, L1 or L2.

I recall we dont agree on much in the past but exactly this^ We have been :censored: for what,17 of the last 19 seasons. The talk of LJ being rubbish is ridiculous. We might not be any better than any of them other 17 seasons but at least the football is watchable and the potential is there. Lets see what this potential can turn in to. Ive heard the relegation word mention season after season yet Im hearing it so early on this year without any foundations to back up why its worse than its ever been
