  1. I'm 95% sure I'm wrong but...a very old Hillsbrough?
  2. Ahhh, the internet. Provoking monumental overreactions since 1995.
  3. It saddens me that Altrincham have an advertising hoarding behind the goal for manutd.com. As if they need the advertising.
  4. Cheers. You'd think the club would offer up some of the usual arty shirt porn though..
  5. I might be missing something but we've been told about all these models (fans) being recruited to model the kit, yet the only picture I've seen is the one of the two blondes on the pitch. It'd be interesting to see it close up.
  6. Good riddance. Not interested in numpties like him at the club. Even if he does turn it on every now & again.
  7. This summer (like all those since the advent of internet message boards) will go as follows: Approximately 250 players' names will be plucked out of the air on OWTB. Out of that 250 a maximum of 3 will actually sign for us. A maximum of 20 will actually be based on any leaks or interest. The rest will be entirely because someone saw him have a good game once & he's now out of contract/fallen out with his manager. It's all understandable, but it is the most infuriating thing in the world. I'm with Prozac: Wake me up when September ends begins
  8. Shez got us to the playoffs, got Chesterfield promoted & won them a trophy. Dickov could yet emulate those feats though...
  9. I'm intrigued by this. Bringing Wilshere in would change the system & style of play as he would look to get forward & create more than Barry. Even if Wilshere was told to sit deep and spray passes he wouldn't be the break it up, pass it on man that Barry is. A midfield pairing of Rodwell & Wilshere could end up similar to the Lampard-Gerrard axis...both are happy to try to do their defensive work but they're going to have to subdue a natural tendency to drift forward and create (Wilshere) or make attacking raids (Rodwell). If an understanding is struck and only one of these happens at once it could be sensational...but if not it will see us open to simple counters through the middle of the park. I agree with your comments re Walcott, he's really upped his game since he's felt the Ox breathing down his neck. With Chamberlain (and maybe Sturridge) to come on late in games we have the potential for devastatingly quick counter attacks - if that pace & trickery is harnessed correctly. As for Cahill as captain...well I laughed when I read it, though that may have been a slight overreaction. Not this summer for me, I wouldn't particularly even want to start him this summer. Given a couple of years though and - most importantly - regular games at Chelsea and he could be the man to lead us in Brazil.
  10. I would LOVE this, i'll bring a string of garlic & wear my breton top. If someone brings the bread we're in business.
  11. Coventry would be Category A, they're a massive club for this level Other than that I think you're right. The pricing structure will need a good looking at. Corney et al need to look at whether they deem the categorisation method has been effective not only in terms of attendances but income. (I think we'd all suggest it hasn't, but this is only partially down the the pricing structure)
  12. I smiled reading this more than any of the others. (I'm 23, so I'm told we used to be quite good but don't really remember it) The Rushden & QPR wins are easily in my top 5 Latics wins. If not the top 2. Remember the whole team (including Pogs) diving on Johnny Eyre in the Chaddy/Lookers corner after rifling in that winner against QPR? What a fantastic moment! The Rushden game provided one of the funnier moments I've had watching Latics. When we finally settled down after wildly celebrating the winning goal my Dad looked at me and asked who scored it. "Matt O'Halloran" I replied. He looked at me for a few seconds with a puzzled look before saying "Who the hell is that!?" A moment that really sums up the start to that season...
  13. Yeah its a good, simple & catchy football chant that is. Does my nut in when people whine about chants being 'stolen' or 'borrowed' from other clubs. I mean do these people think every club has a little John Williams sat behind the goal composing new original chants!? These things spread across the league, always have. Anyway as long as we don't start singing '(name of :censored:hole) is a :censored: hole, i wanna go hooooome' I'll be happy.
  14. That's a revealing statistic. I think we all realise we struggle at home, but that points return is much worse than I imagined. We really need to turn BP into somewhere visiting teams hate to visit. We've got an open side that welcomes all sorts of weather in, a ground that's falling apart around us & a public transport system that requires a week off work to get to the ground. Visiting teams should be dreading the trip here for weeks in advance. In reality the majority of teams must come to Oldham very confident of a positive result. I'd like to suggest a solution, but I haven't got a clue.
  15. It's no good Sonny Jim, I saw you toss those rogue apostrophes into that bush
  16. Quite right. I'm quite happy with our inconsistency as long as we can spell it & use it in a sentence.
  17. I'm more concerned about the proliferation of incorrect grammar on this thread than any of the subject matter.
  18. In fact lets get rid of the badge altogether & replace it different one. One with a really perturbed owl on it as well as a graphical representation of the topography of the town.
  19. It's been really uncomfortable watching this game, I can't bear to think what next week will be like
  20. Unsurprisingly no, I have not seen Arbroath's stadium. My point was quite clearly that was the B2Net has no echoes of vernacular architecture. It could be plonked anywhere in the UK as it was clearly not designed to reflect its location in Chesterfield. I would like to think that any stadium built in the Oldham area would make an attempt to look like it belongs there.
  21. The ground wasn't as soulless as I'd expected and the facilities were superb. Unfortunately though it was another stadium that could be anywhere from Arbroath to Wrexham. I'd be happy with something similar as long as we tailored it to Oldham. The brick facade on the Failsworth proposals (below) designed to replicate the mills were a cracking touch. I hope this is the sort of thing we make sure is in the scheme when one eventually surfaces & comes to fruition.
  22. I'm on the 14:01 from Piccadily as well. Sounds like either the Midland or the Crown once we land then.
