  1. I'll be getting the train to Liverpool around that time. So in a similar vein, but at the other end, does anyone know where will be good for us 'tics to get some refreshments in Liverpool tomorrow affie?
  2. Wow...What a bunch of herberts That thread is just 4 basic posts repeated ten or so times each, mind numbing
  3. It's a very odd way of doing things. It'll be a nightmare today with people queuing for Liverpool tickets as well.
  4. Just a quick question... Is it possible to pay on the turnstile in the main stand upper? I've done it for a few of the cup games this year but tend to buy in advance for league games so I'm not too sure. My Dad's convinced you can't, but I think he's possibly still stuck back in the pinch me years when we actually filled it...
  5. I thought as much. They are no more deserving of that reputation than any other club would be. It's not just the ITV that are up their arse though, Its all the media. They just love their history and that lovely cabaret song they sing before the match.
  6. Just had a quick nosey on one of the Liverpool forums to see what (if anything) they were saying about the draw. I have to say I'm astounded and a little disappointed by the lack of football knowledge evident within. One user's response was "Off to check what league they're in" whilst tens of others were just laughing... I'd love either us OR Southend to stick it to the Scouse sods. I've no idea where their reputation as 'proper' football supporters comes from.
  7. He was a massive berk, but never a donkey. I'll never forget one story about him I got told: He parked on the double yellows somewhere round BP during training and got a ticket. When he found the ticket he took it in to Shez's office expecting the club to pay it, Shez told him precisely where to stick it and he walked off with his tail between his legs. The very next day he parks in the same place, gets another ticket and takes it into Shez's office again. That is a special kind of stupid.
  8. I'm with you there, I remember him taking a cross with one hand. That excited me greatly.
  9. A company could get some great publicity by buying the naming rights & calling it St James' Park, they'd still end up with enough sponsorship around the ground to bleed the Geordies dry
  10. I can see your point, the whole furore this week has been unnecessary & blown well out of proportion. However I also think that clubs, as cornerstones of the community, see it as appropriate that they should commemorate these events by having the minutes silence and in recent years the poppies on the shirts. Yes we are at the game to be entertained, as at the cinema. But cinemas are just businesses with no emotional investment from their patrons, unlike football clubs.
  11. That makes you sound like the brickies I work with. My point was people are asking when it will be built when I'm not sure we've even got permission yet! My understanding was that the club had decided to stick at BP and they were going to look at the options to see what we can do stand by stand. That was the last we heard was it not? I may well have missed something, but I'd be amazed if work was started before 2013.
  12. I mentioned this to a Villa fan recently, who rolled his eyes and said 'Oldham fans always bring this up' He then went on to say that their 0-3 thumping at Ewood the week before was when their title chase ended. I prefer our version of events, but there you go.
  13. Have we seen plans for this new stand? I was under the impression they were going to come back with a new scheme, not use the original BP redevelopment (the one the march was in aid of)
  14. That's the best news article on the official site in a long while!
  15. I went for Cisak, but it was definitely a three horse race between him, Kuqi & Wesolowski
  16. I think I might go to the game just to get away from the moans & groans on here
  17. They won't really be able to field a weakened team due to the competition rules, but I suppose the mindset could be weakened. A further thought on this competition: by my reckoning in the last ten years Blackpool, Bristol City, Swansea, Doncaster, MK Dons & Southampton have won the trophy and then gone on to win promotion that year or within a couple of years. Momentum.
  18. Absolutely. My only concern with that is that no matter how seriously Dickov & the team takes it, if the fans don't turn up and thus the games are played in front of (even more than usual) sparse crowds with (even more than usual) subdued atmospheres It must be hard to raise performance levels. I'd be interested to hear from someone who went last night what sort of tempo the game was played at. Sometimes these JPT games can drift into pre-season realms of slow tempo injury avoiding exercises.
  19. I suppose this is an obvious statement for this competition, but we've got a real chance. Looking at those teams I'd fancy us at home (or should that be away considering recent results!) against anyone other than Sheff Utd. My preferred draw would probably be Bradford at home. They're L2 so clearly beatable, plus the Lancs-Yorks rivalry should hopefully ensure a slightly more vibrant atmosphere & healthy attendance than the usual JPT games. I'm desperate for us to go far in this competition. I simply cannot understand why others don't give a toss as this is a winnable competition for us. That is to say a competition where Oldham Athletic have a very good chance of winning a trophy! We don't get many opportunities so I am perpetually bemused that nobody seems interested. I'd rather reach the final of this competition than the 3rd round of the FA Cup or the 4th round of the Carling Cup.
