  1. The worst thing about posts like this is that you read them and shake your head or laugh, then the tiny idiot voice in the back of your head goes "That £9million would be nice... Come to think of it I have seen a few Junks on the Alexandra Park lake recently... Maybe?"
  2. Presumably an own goal? After his performances this season Ancellotti must be on the phone bargaining with Dickov as we speak
  3. He's had a busy day, maybe he can tap up some of the reserves whilst he's there!
  4. Aye, I have the '70s blue shirt, but its not very practical in hot weather or for playing footy in. The shirts from the '80s, which were more like modern shirts, would be much more marketable as you could wear them for leisure & whilst playing.
  5. Yeah they did, quite a few of them were Pioneer. ITFC Online Shop There's a few on there, but there was at least 6 different shirts for sale in the shop.
  6. I went to watch Ipswich v Palace recently & popped into the shop at Portman Road for a nosey. They've got a stack of replicas of their old shirts, mainly from the 70s & 80s. Looking around in the ground they seemed to be huge sellers, in fact I saw more of them than the current shirts! Now it might be a gamble, but surely Latics could have a look at re-releasing some of our classic shirts for sale in the club shop. I'm convinced they'd be massively popular, in fact they would probably outsell the current strips.
  7. I moved from Oldham to Chorlton about a year ago. I'll keep you posted on the progress of my accent
  8. This is they key point. As fans we're never afraid of voicing our opinions on what should be done to correct faults in the team, yet with this goalscoring issue I think even the fans - much like the team - are drawing blanks. Too often we see that we don't have a man up top with the positional sense to get on the end of our moves. Unfortunately this positional sense will come with a higher calibre of player, and we all know that signing those higher calibre players isn't really an option we have at the minute.
  9. Thats a good point, and i must admit you got me thinking. But look at the world cup finalists: Spain - Torres is the only starter playing in England. The Dutch - Kuyt, De Jong, Van Persie playing in England. We have a whole squad playing the full English season, not a select few. Its a lottery Lee. We've gone years without a replay at a big club. We'd be just as likely to get big cash windfall from a big game away from home in the next round after winning a penalty shootout
  10. I'd keep it on a Saturday & I'd vehemently oppose a seeded draw, but replays I'd get rid of. I don't want to please the Premier League, I want to benefit the England team by aiding fixture congestion. I wouldn't do this by dropping a cup competition because they're proving an ideal environment for clubs to cultivate young talent, which can only be good for English football.
  11. I'd rather settle it on the night. If we've got United down to our level at BP (or Ashton ) then we've much more chance of beating them than going to OT two weeks later to play a full 90 minutes in front of a massive crowd of reds. As for the financial aspect; when was the last time we had a big cash windfall from a replay? It doesn't happen often enough for that argument to hold any water. Replays are an outdated legacy of an era prior to the advent of European football, the League Cup, competitive International football & a 92 team league.
  12. More would go to FA cup games if there was potential for the tie to be settled with a dramatic extra time goal or a penalty shoot out. There are too many games played in England. One of the (many) reasons we lag behind the rest of Europe & look jaded in tournaments is we have an extra cup competition, all the other top leagues just have one. I wouldn't want to get rid of either of the cups, but settling a tie on the day would help clear up the fixture list. It would also stop ridiculous situations such as this weekend where City & i think Chelsea have 4th round replays on 5th round weekend.
  13. There's some cracking ideas in there, lets hope the club maybe take note & see what they can do. Also, I did have a good laugh at the thought of Oldham Council sponsoring Latics!
  14. You're right Macca, they really are an excellently run club. I lived in Huddersfield from for a few years for Uni & couldn't help but notice this, from the effective & slick advertising campaigns they undertake to promote games & offers to the well stocked but modestly sized shop in the town centre. I believe a lot of this is down to a certain Sean Jarvis. Its a shame we don't/didn't have the money (or even dare I say commitment) to do any of this whole heartedly during or since his time at the club.
  15. I think that with a young team its a combination of the two. A lack of concentration combined with a lack of experience in grinding out results. For this reason I can't see us going up this season, but if we should retain the nucleus of the team next season could see a tilt at the top two.
  16. I enjoyed the build up to Morais' goal on Saturday, as Tonk held the ball up & waited to lay it off to Morais the Brentford defender (who was a pretty tall lad himself) repeatedly bumped into Tonk without ever having a sniff. It was like watching a giraffe try to tackle an elephant
  17. The region's most prominent football league clubs then. Latics will feature at some point. Probably more so than Bury or Accrington, who will then complain that Oldham & Rochdale get too much exposure. TV really can't win when it comes to pleasing football fans. Having said that, it is a little bit :censored:. Could be worse though; Manish is presenting it in the Midlands.
  18. Maybe not, but the symbol of Lancashire is a red rose & the symbol of Yorkshire a white rose. They clash, its a roses clash, geddit?
  19. No money back, no guarantee, Black or white, rich or poor, We'll cut prices at a strooooooooke. God bless Hooky Street...... In all seriousness i'd imagine they just wont bother releasing it, there's not much point really.
  20. Paul Dickov Marty McFly Am I the only one that sees this?
  21. These offers, whilst a great idea, are always implemented wrong, as has been said. My particular gripe with this one is the choice of games - Colchester, Plymouth & Exeter. Now i realise these are likely to be low attendance games and the club want to bump up the crowd figures, but surely with an eye on the long term kids are more likely to get the bug if they come to a game where the place is jumping (or as near as it gets to jumping these days) such as Huddersfield, Tranmere or Sheffield Wednesday at home. If I was a 12 year old lad (and i was at one point, for a whole year in fact) i don't think a game against Exeter would make me want to come again unless there was a very, very good match resulting in a 4-3 scoreline. If they also run this offer later in the season for the games mentioned i'll be happy to give my congratulations to the club, but i really doubt they will.
