  1. We will be doing everything we can in training to put it right...... Nobody is more disappointed than the players themselves...... Oh and we have now gone 31 games since a win by more than one goal. .....erm don't write that one down
  2. Good article. Nice to be mentioned . It was an entertaining team , but nothing like as much as in 89/90 and 90/91 . I felt every game would finish 3-2 in those years. After figuring out his team are hopeless at defending , Brendan Rogers has created a superb team for the neutral to watch. They go out to simply outscore the opposition every game , I look forward to any of their games on the TV. Man City also score lots of goals , but they do prefer the opposition to fall apart before them , any team that gets outworks them and forces them to get out of first gear often gets a result.
  3. I cannot see Smith nor Wes being here next season . I have little doubt it will be yet another 'Groundhog Day' style summer of ship 'em in , ship 'em out at Boundary Park . Our financial position appears to make it impossible to form a squad to build on for the future. We cannot pay enough , nor make contract long enough for this to happen.
  4. The Chaddy is a dilipated old fashioned terraced standing stand with impaired views pretending to be a modern seated stand. I wince every time we give the RRE to the away fans , they must be laughing their socks off at us when this happens.
  5. Got to love those home records , 2 defeats in over 60 games. Only defeat in 1989/ 90 to Sheff U .....no problem they were promoted Only defeat in 1990/91 to Hull City ......hapless bottom of the table team , that would have killed a few coupons.
  6. 27) You don't get told you cannot use your season ticket for the match with your local rivals unless you take out another mortgage for some game against some foreigners.
  7. I can think of 2 occasions straight off , Sheff Utd in the first division(Premier League as it is called now) and Newcastle back in the 80's when Keegan played for them.
  8. Not much of the season left after that , every chance they might call it quits I would think.
  9. Dennis Irwin was released by Leeds United .....I doubt there fans thought he was much of a player at that time either.
  10. We could loan Ronaldo , Messi or Suarez and they would be lucky to score 3 goals between now and the end of the season.
  11. The loss of Baxter was as predictable as it was disappointing. Inability to build a team around a player of his quality at this level is no feather in the manager's cap. He never appeared to be in the manager' plans so no wonder his form tailed off ,a clueless decision by a club going with no plans beyond the next short term loanee.
  12. He will live in 21st century folklore at BP for his headed decisive goal against Liverpool. He is beyond criticism imo.
  13. We have the latest bunch of short term contractors . In the real world contractors have contracts terminated with a weeks notice and are not paid off if they don't deliver. All fans want is 90 minutes of effort from every player in every game . They can always get a proper job if their paymasters booing them for going through the motions is too upsetting........
  14. The Chaddy was a great place to be during the standing era , But as a seated stand it is dreadful. Old , dilapidated , impaired views and on those rare nice days in the shade. I cannot believe any other club gives the best stand in the ground to the away fans. You have to be at least 30 to recollect the Chaddy and standing areas . I sit in the Rochdale Road end and dread the games where we have to switch and sit in the dark dungeon at the other end .
  15. Win one game , don't have to bother in the next one or sometimes .......the level of ambition and desire we have received from a whole stack of players over the last umpteen years......this more than anything will finish off our club .People get sick and tired of racing from work in midweek to get to a game and the latest batch of short term contractors decide to take another night off.
  16. Mark Ward , Andy Ritchie , none (they never stay long enough to become a fav)
  17. Totally agree with the thoughts on Marshall and Redfearn ......switching Warhurst to right back was another disastrous decision. He finished up on the verge of the England squad with Blackburn as a forward until he got injured.
  18. As good as Jobbo was I would have the ludicrous acceleration of Paul Warhurst in his place.
  19. A fantastic player , who in addition worked his socks off . Top man from the very start of the golden years.
  20. I can't imagine this will set well with the manager , following the earlier comments on 'phantom' injuries , I think was the phrase used.
  21. But for the Munich Air Disaster and the loss of 3 of England's probable starting Eleven , Finney , Wright & co would probably have won the 58 World Cup.
  22. The Barnsley game was allowed to be played on the Monday rather than Saturday. The pitch was bright orange because the vast amounts of sand and grit had not bedded down. And yes it hammered down ......and as anyone(like myself) who has been wiped out by a defender on that pitch will tell you , the wetter the better.
  23. Recall us whupping Ipswich 4-0 in a snowstorm when the rocky road end was open on an evening match. The plucky travelling few were moved I recall at some point to one of the sides.
  24. Both first choice centre halves missing .....clean sheet and a win , would you credit it ? Top stuff .......doesn't matter who scores ,but yet another one not from a striker. Interesting what happens with Tarks & Kusunga now.
