  1. Salford the next team out , shame that would have been a top tie on the tele.
  2. Modern football has been redesigned so that lots of clubs are not stuck in the middle with little to play for in the latter part of the season , to make it more exciting. With the playoffs ,teams down in the depths at Xmas can by finishing as low as 6th get promoted. So 6 teams get promoted or at least the playoffs. 4 teams get relegated. 10 out of 24 .......yet in 18 years we have 2 playoffs and never reached the final. I would fully understand why any fans aged in their late 20's or younger are utterly bored to death with the monotony of finishing 16th in Division 3 . But relegation isn't the answer , we have 2 relegations in modern history and never looked like returning to a higher level.
  3. We have been here dozens of times in the last decade or so , yet another team of journeymen and umpteen loanees going nowhere.......and as for a battling away performance followed by a shocking home one .........don't they usually blame the fans for this ?
  4. Reuben Reid looked like a proper footballer at our place , held the ball up well and made space for himself. He seems to have scored bucketloads since leaving.
  5. Winchester failed to influence the game in the 1 minute of actual time given him , doubt he will get another chance. What on earth do they teach to get coaching badges .......a player not exactly a favourite enters the fray at 4 -2 down in the last minute .....farcical.
  6. It was a great shame that the Rugby team did not make the final in 1990. It would have been a staggering achievement to have both clubs playing at Wembley on consecutive days.
  7. Scarborough beat Chelsea in the previous round. The draw was made on the highlights show after their game ...... someone made a flippant comment about 'where is Oldham ?'...... My mate brought his boss to the game .......despite being a Leeds fan , he became a regular attendee at the goalfests over the next few years.
  8. Rugby League abandoned it's traditional winter season , so there is only a short period of the season when both teams would be using the surface ........and it is not in the worst months of the year. Of course both teams should use the stadium in this cash strapped era ,as neither club is part of the privileged fat cats that dominate both respective sports. As one who recalls many great rugby league games at BP back in the 80's when Watershedding was frozen , it brings back great memories , lightning fast aussie David Liddiard scoring four trys from fullback on one occasion .
  9. The appointment of Mr Kelly appears to have been an abysmal disaster It is the fault of the interviewers and the appointees , not the applicant. This follows on from the continuing shambles with the ongoing failure to have the new stand (is it not too old to be called that now) available for use. I used to love the era where we had continuity and stability with 2 managers in 24 years, laughing at other clubs constantly sacking managers .......we have been part of this one dimensional non solution now for many years.
  10. No one is a superstar performer at 18,19,20, Andy Goram was
  11. Somewhere around 84? Think we won 2-0 at their place. Then went 2-0 down at home before getting a 2-2 draw , recall McDonough scoring at least 1.
  12. He was player of the season .......then abandoned by the 100 day plan genius . Terrific purchase , 100% attitude and effort.
  13. Best footballer we have had in a very long time. No problems with him at our club. The fact that the 100 day plan genius could not build a team around his quality says it all. Selling him was the last straw for me. I can find no reports on this rumour either.
  14. Well that was dull Punching above our weight .......15th in Division 3 , what on earth was 17 years in the second tier then ?
  15. A bizarre appointment in my opinion . Appears to have ery little experience of the English football league , not counting non league . Given the many negative views expressed on here , the club had better not start the next season badly , I doubt there will be much patience shown by fans.
  16. Starting Frank Bunn instead of the injured Ian Marshall was a very poor decision . Roger should have started imo . Still recall bumping into my boss and family members at the ground .......all aboard the bandwagon.
  17. 14th plays 15th both safe Either A - entertain the fans , all our attacking football , high scoring ,lots of shots or B - keep it solid , a good shape blah blah coaching manual blah blahh ..... We have somehow managed to get to our beloved home that is 16th place in Division 3 yet again .........another good weeks work for the players and coaches.
  18. My 24 year old daughter , a latics fanatic .....says we made it all up , none of it really happened , clever editing ,CGI , etc .....can't blame her the drivel served up for the last 18 years. 0 Quote MultiQuote Edit
  19. Winston Dubose ....one game, one clean sheet in nets.....some record.
  20. A wonderful day , and a game I felt we shaded . Still recall walking to the ground as the Palace v Liverpool game was deadlocked at 3-3. A United fans coach came past , and they erupted ......I had a feeling that Liverpool had not just scored.
  21. Very sad news, was our goalkeeper when my dad took me to my first game as a nipper against Bournemouth in 1970/71.
  22. Can't be easy marketing this rubbish for a 19th successive year . Merry go round of players to follow once again .
  23. all the facilities on match days........... and they are ?
  24. In a season where nobody seemed to want the last 2 playoff spots , we were in pole position . The fans starved of any notion of promotion are desperately disappointed at the miserable failure to still at least be a contender . Very difficult to recover from this , the mistake was to give loyal fans some hope .....and then fail miserably to deliver.
