  1. Today has to be the best given our league status. In the pinch me years we were also aiming for promotion to the top flight. I'm just glad some of our younger faithful were able to witness something like that, it was just like the old days....
  2. Dobcross new road, leading in to uppermill, is clear and passable. Everything around it is covered but the road is ok. Hope sheepfoot lane is the same!
  3. The ones with sense who will be there on Sunday, with the rest of us, who have no sense, who have had to put up with all the insipid performances (or listen to them). I'm glad I'm not one of the ones with sense. The only sense I would have is guilt!
  4. To be fair to Simon Corney, he did suggest there would be "lean" years whilst the stand development was taking place. It seems the priorities this season at least for him were: progression on new stand (hoping to start this year but there's rightly a "believe it when we see it" mentality given all past promises) cup run meaning bonus revenue (tick) staying up Hard to judge without knowing the full picture in my opinion
  5. What about Wabara on the right flank? He has been far more effective when he's got forward in the past, and would hopefully track back to help Brown out...
  6. That is very unusual I think - for home games as mentioned above we have listeners from all over the world (hello, Bob!) If you haven't already, try downloading Google Chrome, which seems to be the best browser for listening to the commentary. I really hope it works for you as it would mean at least one person will be listening to our Liverpool commentary!
  7. Was it like that bit in Gavin and Stacey where Stacey's showing Smithy what underwear to buy for his girlfriend? I think I would have been rather open mouthed anyway...
  8. He's a great ambassador for our club and watching that makes me feel really proud that we have a current Latics representative in a major tournament. He's showed recently (possibly with more forward thinking from the manager) what he can do on the pitch too. Hope his SA manager isn't right when he says he won't be at Latics much longer (there's a video on youtube in which he says that). Good luck Deano!
  9. I saw soccer am were tweeting Michelle Marsh yesterday to ask if she worked in the area - I presume for this feature. I was tempted to tweet back to advise of her whereabouts of the kids' clothes shop she runs in Royton, but thought that would (rightly) point me out as a stalker
  10. Aside from the sending off, and the ref looking like he enjoyed Christmas a bit too much, it's nice to see the ref giving Smith a bit of protection. No way he would have got that pen against Crewe as he was being penalised for everything.
  11. If Dickov has bought into the decision, obviously it sullies his friendship with Taggart but who cares that's football - plenty of times it happens the other way round where a manager gets sacked and his mate/assistant takes over. So if Corney is genuine and wasn't doing it to get Dickov to walk, then no harm done. If Taggart was still there and an older/wiser coach is brought in then obviously that undermines the whole situation. But I don't understand how an experienced coach coming in to assist, especially someone known to him like Reid/Horton, would be undermining if everyone is clear as to their role. Horton has already been an assistant in recent times after being the front man. Maybe veterans like this want to get on with the football and leave all the media crap to someone else at that stage in their careers. Maybe they want to pass on all their knowledge and teach someone younger. Same situation with Lawrence/Freedman at Bolton. It's not the same as something like Evans/Houllier at Liverpool where it was obvious what would happen. Hopefully this is the situation and we will see a positive move in the next couple of days... hopefully.
  12. The less Forest fans there the more chance of Latics turning it into a "home game" and firing up the team I guess. Also, wonder if the best case scenario would be to get a draw and beat them at BP?!
  13. There was actually a bit of singing in the main stand today. Couldn't believe my frozen ears!
  14. If we have Wes and furman pressing deep like that every game does it mean we CAN play with two defensive midfielders?
  15. According to the Rarely-Wrong, there are a few irons in the fire other than Cisak http://oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/10/oldham-athletic-news/75472/pompey-pounce-for-cisak
  16. Another sulk following the draw with Notts County. Obviously horrible for Laird breaking his leg, wouldn't wish that on anyone. But Westley makes them out to be saints and according to the Notts press they were anything but. http://www.pnefc.net/news/article/westley-beyond-a-joke-499102.aspx?pageView=full#anchored
  17. Bit harsh isn't it - why should they all reveal their sexuality just because they are in financial trouble?!
  18. Can't see Dickov just leaving due to results. Who was the last manager that just walked away due to a poor set of results? There are some high profile premier league managers that have quit without a job to go to knowing that they'll get another one down the line, but hardly any lower league boss just leaves, and if it's by mutual consent that only really means one thing. In any event it's not really about the boss. It's about the future of the club, and in the short term, preserving its League 1 status with things hopefully progressing off the pitch, so three points is a welcome three points whoever is in charge now and however long they will last.
  19. Dickov has a bit of form for "tactical" bookings and even if it was not deliberate, I'd rather have Baxter suspended for Shrews at home with 3pts from last night in the bag, than either of the Donny games.
  20. If true and assuming he can play tomorrow with his injury (could there be more kidology from Dickov on that one?) what sort of frame of mind is he likely to be in playing against his future employers?
  21. I'm not sure if it was, but Paladini features heavily in The Four Year Plan, the QPR documentary - a must watch for any fan and shows what a train wreck it was there (probably very similar to a lot of clubs though)
  22. http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/News/2012/Oct/second-round-draw.aspx We'll be numero uno if we are still in the draw. Does this dispel the myth that "it doesn't matter that X who beat us have got Chelsea, we'd have been a different number"?
  23. The new stand being trucked up from France -what could possibly go wrong?! Good news on the cinema planning application in Oldham this week too - hopefully this council will continue to move in the right direction and to OAFC's benefit.
  24. Great report and it makes you wonder how much of Crawley's reputation is down to Steve Evans originally. Loved the reference to Henry Afrika's too!
  25. Wa Was that "ooosh" inspired by Sky Sports News's Goals Express bloke, who usually gives an "ooof" or an "Phwooooar" whenever a netbuster goes in, but could only manage a surprised "that was a good goal" when he saw Baxter's strike?! It was a great win, but to be fair I've yet to see a bad one.
