  1. I'd go so far as to say it was wrong... Keeper has the ball in two hands until O'Grady collides with him: https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/siteassets/image/201819/season/29--bury-a/eg13_oldham_v_bury_151218_028.jpg/Large Nice to be on the right end of these decisions for once though.
  2. Tilt that on its head and you could argue taking a winger off for a striker is a statement of intent in itself. If this argument that Bunn was "settling for a point" had any merit, surely he'd have been making defensive-minded subsitutions? Surridge got 30 minutes, having been out injured for several weeks, and with another difficult game on Tuesday. Given his injury record this season, it seems quite sensible to me to ease him back in gently.
  3. Gave away another daft free-kick which led to their goal, though...
  4. This is a throwaway comment. Admittedly the short corner incident was bizarre, but I think to question our attacking intent in the last 20 minutes is misguided. I don't agree that we were "hanging on for a point". If Surridge had scored his one-on-one at 1-0, it's game over; not a lot Bunn can do about that. Always disappointing to give up a lead, but I think a point is a decent result.
  5. Enlighten us; what would you have done differently?
  6. Would we be able to postpone the game even if he wasn't a pro and we don't have three call ups? I'd assumed our only options would be to play him, or to get a goalkeeper on an emergency loan. As a side-note; doesn't look like N. Ireland U21s are playing, so I think our only (eligible) call ups would be Iversen and Nepomuceno. My understanding is that the rule only applies to full international or U21 caps, so Robinson wouldn't count.
  7. Read this line several times now, and I'm still struggling to understand it...
  8. He was the best player on the pitch on Saturday...
  9. On what grounds have you concluded that Lyden can't tackle?
  10. Would be more disappointed to see Benteke starting than O'Grady, personally. Haven't seen anything to suggest he's capable at this level. Think Lang is worth a go up top though; his pace might at least give opposition defences something to worry about...
  11. I think in an ideal world you'd have Surridge and possibly Miller up front. But neither of them were available, so I don't think he had much other choice... Though I would have started Nepomuceno and possibly moved Lang up top. People moan that he didn't start another striker, but the only other option left is Benteke...
  12. Out of interest, who would you have had on the team sheet instead?
  13. Doesn't say that Bournemouth are happy, just that Surridge is. And I can't imagine he cares whether we're paying Bournemouth a loan fee or not - he's just enjoying his football.
  14. Because, ironically, the fit and proper persons test isn't a fit and proper test...
  15. This is really disappointing. Just when you think we've turned a corner...
  16. Unlucky to lose - but we probably weren't clinical enough in the final third to deserve more than a point. Newport got two more than they came for; I'm yet to see a decent side in this league. Thought Missilou, Lang, Zeus and Taylor played well. Edmundson was pretty good too. Branger was largely anonymous, and Surridge didn't have his best game. Baxter did nothing when he came on. Gardner was poor for the last half-hour, but think some of the vitriol on here is a bit of an over-reaction... We've played worse and won games.
