  1. What is most frustrating is that with a full pre season of decent training and increased fitness levels with LJ many of us suspect that there was a good League 1 level player ready to be unleashed. Can't blame Smith for leaving but it is another reason to be glad PD is no longer around. Can we get him back on loan towards the end of the season ....
  2. IIRC - He had already signed for Liverpool and we had him on loan to the end of the season
  3. You mean Marconi Stallions - based in south west Sydney - in the nsw state league ( Les Pogliacomi and Mark Schwarzer old club btw). That is a bit of a drop down in standard. He should be looking at the National league (A league) at least.
  4. I wish him well - as long as he does not use his inside knowledge to poach Baxter and ... well just Baxter
  5. Being in a land down under I have the everyday question - where are you from? If I answer Oldham I just get blank stares, if I answer near Manchester I get the inevitable next question so you are a Manchester United supporter then ...... Growing up I never used to hate Manure or Citeh, in fact if Latics and ORLFC were playing away I would often go to see them play. But now I friggen hate them. its as if the footballing world revolves around them.
  6. Just checked and Central coast mariners just lost there young goalkeeping star Matthew Ryan to Anderlecht so they are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
  7. Just under his tweet is an inquiry by a central coast mariners fan. The Mariners won the 'A' league this season in Australia and did reasonably well in the Asian cup (equivalent of the Euro cup) so maybe Bouzanis is coming down my way. I would suggest our A league down here is the same standard as the lower championship / high div1 so could be correct.
  8. LJ asked Vigurs if he wanted to sign for latics and he said yes straight away, the medical problem was trying to find the doctors address in Wigan when his GPS was saying follow signs for a place called Oldham ......
  9. Player of the year, 50 odd games, very disappointed with latics if true. Possibly a communication error with his manager but we should have offered a contract out of respect even if we know that it was way below what he would accept.

  11. Stagger Lee (Johnson) - by Nick cave and the bad seeds (Jack) True Love by Cole Porter Laid - By james (Tarkowski)
  12. Scored a useful 9 goals for Ross County this year but also finished join top of the SPL bookings list. That's about as much as I could find about him An aggressive left footed midfielder that can score goals - just what we need
  13. LJ being a young enthusiastic manager will have many ideas which will be inspired and deserved to be backed .....This is not one of them
  14. Thankyou prozac for posting these. I was living overseas by this time and missed out on the excitement so this is the first time I have ever seen these games!
  15. Might have a customer right here if you had a few spare copies
  16. You have my symphony but I think this thread has struck a chord amongst many and it will be hard to beat if we could just drum up more support.
  17. Ged Keagan First player to have high heel footy boots - fact!
  18. Vic Halom wins this by a few KG Mickey Quinn did look a bit plump though, check out this video of his best work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xu9d8zTgA0E
  19. Kenny Clements Paul Futcher Paul Futcher got called into the England squad and may have even played a friendly game for England - all based on his form for Latics So why has he got so few votes? Strewth we have had some classy centre halves over the years
  20. Ronnie Blair was a full back for most of his career if I remember correctly
  21. Ian Wood was as solid as a rock - devastated when he left us because he easily had another season left in him. But Denis Irwin was a genuine world class player, a full back that did not hoof the ball clear but always passed to a team mate, had all the time in the world on the ball , and the timing of his tackles was like a skilled surgeon.
