  1. I seem to remember guaranteed use of Boundary Park as a football ground runs out in around 2032, is that about right? Not that far off really. Isn't there also the small matter of c.£6m owed to TTA, or is that covered by your BP debt? Which they said would only be called in if we reach the Premiership? Is that promise in writing?
  2. I hope you're wrong, coming up from Worcester for this one! Though come to think of it, my last 3 have been Port Vale home (0-0), Swindon away (0-0), Walsall away (0-2) !!!
  3. Hear hear! Firstly though, should it be Mowergate, or Lawnmowergate?
  4. Our average home league attendance after today v Bolton is 4,407. With Rochdale to come that means our average for 2016/17 will be higher than for the whole of 2015/16 (4,361). OK, only a few hundred higher but who could have predicted that back in the dark days of December!!
  5. There is a lot in Dave's post with which, as a sadly distant (geographically) fan, I find myself in agreement. I completely understand the anger re the scoreboard fundraising. The club should offer unconditional refunds. At the same time, that poor episode doesn't feel all that different to forking out £20-25 on matchdays and hoping for better times, which in recent years have been all too rare. The other side of the coin is that the club could easily have become another Stockport, or Tranmere - and may yet suffer that fate, for all any of us know. At the moment there is a glimmer of hope - Sheridan, Clarke, Gerrard, Holloway are all contracted for the next two seasons and it looks as though Shez will pull off a repeat miracle. The simple truth is that we don't know what Corney & co. have in mind for our club, which hurts. We can only hope that he means it when he says that he wants the right buyer and not a shiny suit. That we have survived this long on the gates that we get, next door to the "Premier" League prima donnas, is a miracle in itself. When I look at top level professional football, and remember how it used to be, I want to vomit. When I see a small club like ours, surviving against the odds, whatever the question marks over its running, I want to celebrate with a beer and carry on hoping.
  6. Yep, that table is completely wrong. If you check the as it stands table on BBC Sport, on 5 April we were 18th with 45 points. Port Vale were 20th with 45 points and only one game in hand on us.
  7. I think we've been out of the bottom 4 since 7 Feb, when we were 21st after the Port Vale game?
  8. I'm just not sure about these TV cereals, often too many ads for my liking but this one may keep its fans regular.
  9. Coventry have won 3 of their last 4 and are currently 1-0 up, though in all probability they've left it too late. Swindon, too, have 7 points from the last 3 including wins over Millwall and Fleetwood. Thank goodness we got Shez back in January, and let's hope this time he stays.
  10. Back to the main point of this thread. The catering in OEC is first class, as are the staff.
  11. Back in our customary 17th position, all is right with the world....
  12. Same here, had us down to lose to Sheff Utd and Southend, and only draw v Fleetwood, Bolton and Bristol Rovers, then beat Rochdale and draw with Wimbledon and stay up on 51 points. So we are a point better than that. No time to panic. It's like a tee shot into the rough, take your medicine, move on and get your head right for the next shot.
  13. I don't understand why people are getting in a tizz about this. In the interest of balance, set against all the reasons to be worried quoted by underdog (1) we are putting in perimeter boards (2) the skipper has just signed a 2.5 year deal (3) the HMRC debt has been settled. We all know cash flow is a problem, on our gates how could it not be? At least the Sheff.Utd, Bolton, Fleetwood games will help, but it's a hand to mouth existence. There is no point in speculating about unknown creditors, current or future. Let's devote our energies to staying in L1 for another season (yay!).
  14. This. Absolutely, 100% hits the nail on the head. Marketing is absolutely crucial. Or, we can carry on shrinking.
  15. Yep, you could be right. I'm far from confident! Would prefer us with at least 52 which rarely if ever sees a team go down. Just hoping we can get more than 2 points against the top 3.
  16. If you check the last 10 games on the BBC Sport website, Gillingham are 15th in the form table W3 D3 L4. The bottom 5 over the last 10 are Coventry (5 pts), Scunthorpe (6 pts), Charlton (6 pts), Chesterfield (7 pts) Swindon (7 pts).
  17. As of this morning, the teams realistically in the relegation fight start with Charlton in 15th place. Based on remaining fixtures, I see it ending up as follows: 15th Franchise 59pts 16th Charlton 55 17th Gillingham 52 18th Shrewsbury 52 19th Bury 51 20th Oldham 51 21st Port Vale 47 22nd Swindon 40 23rd Chesterfield 37 24th Coventry 36 I have our remaining matches as Sheffield Utd (L), Southend (L), Fleetwood (D), Bolton (D), Bristol R (D), Rochdale (W), Wimbledon (D) It will be scarily close but barring a complete collapse in form (or administration!!) I think we'll just survive.
  18. Hear hear. Utterly underwhelming since his return. Barring a miracle, back to Bolton at season end. If we do manage to stay up we need to pray that Sheridan stays and is given the funds to build a decent squad over the summer.
  19. Forgot to add, just before they went upfield and got their penalty, AAH practically had the shirt ripped off his back by a Walsall defender under the referee's nose, yet nothing given. The standard of refereeing in this league is absolutely abysmal.
  20. This does not sound good. No disrespect to the Trust, but if fans have donated funds for a scoreboard, and either an entirely different use for the money - or no use at all - is suspected, then some might think it's time to seek legal advice?
  21. Some good points here but ruined by the description of Obadeyi as fantastic and Holloway as merely good. Completely and utterly the wrong way round. AAH was immense today, if only other players (particularly Obadeyi today) could learn to anticipate his headers and flick-ons we would be much more dangerous. The Croft foul was directly behind the pillar in front of me in the away end, so I can't comment on it, but if Shez thought it was a straight red that's good enough for me. We were inept for the rest of the first half at keeping possession, difficult as it is for 10 v 11. We dominated large stretches of the second half, and AAH and Obadeyi ran their nuts off. TO had a great free kick which shaved the post, but also another which went way wide. Great spirit once again, but in the final analysis lack of goals remains the sword of Damocles. 3 points v Bury now essential. Ripley, Clarke yet again outstanding. Referee poor though I don't dispute the reds or the penalty.
  22. I did wonder, but you never know with some people!
  23. Can't understand criticism of AAH in earlier posts. He was excellent v Swindon and clearly adds value to the team. He may not be prolific but he will get/provide goals. As for O'Neill, he's 18 - give him a chance!!
