The Gaffer Posted December 12, 2011 Share Posted December 12, 2011 My Dad's mates Brother's second Cousin, said that the reason that he hasn't been anywhere near the squad is due to the fact that he's already been sold. Therefore the team who has bought him, has put a block on him playing due to risk of injury etc.. Sounds quite a valied reason to me unless he is injured and i've missed it somewhere? My mate's brother's dog's sister's owner's butcher's baker's candlestick maker said that he's not been playing because Dickov rates Black higher, so I'll go with that. He might well be on the way out in January, I don't know, but it's unlikely to be the reason that he isn't playing. Why is he not playing then? he's a country mile better than Black. Black and Diallo are the real LB options and i suppose Mellor fitted in as a last resort given his preferred foot. Why oh why he hasn't been used in central midfield as a sub when possible is beyond me. Kieran Lee - consistently competent right back, but again someone i'd love to see in the midfield bombing forward given his technical ability. decisions decisions eh? P.S. if Mellor is going in Jan for £500k a good piece of business. If true, add that to the anfield (being positive!) receipts and wembley appearance and we should just about be breaking even?! Football's a long career if you're handled right To be honest, Black's return to fitness couldn't have come soon enough. Young Mellor had done an admirable job filling in at LB whilst our 2 specialist Left full-backs were both out injured, but as well as he did to start with; the longer he played there, the more he started to look every inch the young, raw midfielder playing out of position and being exposed, that he is. I don't for one minute believe he's not playing as he's already been sold - codswallop. What I believe has happened is that PD couldn't move fast enough to take him out of the firing line, and to continue his development & learning away for the pressure of the 1st - brilliantly coinciding with Paul Black's welcome return from injury. Wanted to see Lee in CM for a while. However, I don't think there is room for him there currently.
