Good idea and using Gift Aid would increase by 20% the 96p donated by taxpayers at no extra expense to them.

A form has to be completed. If a voucher is to be given out at the Brentford game, perhaps it could incorporate all the information required by HMRC.

Though the club does need to be wary about holding the queue up so people should have to take the forms with them rather than fill out at the time of purchase.

charitable donation would enable VAT and taxable gross to be deducted ..... done in the right way? any accounts about?

I'm a VAT specialist - the 96p could be treated as a donation but only if freely given I.e. people would have to have the option not to give the 96p. Also would be a good idea to have it written down what it is for and who the money is going to.

Let me get this right....Now the truth is out, won't the 96 families simply win the court case for the compensation?

I think these lawyers should go No win no fee. Sorry folks I say no. They've now got their justice with the truth, if they want to get lots of cash also then they do it alone for me.

Fazakerley - haven't they got legal aid anyway?

Could have someone running up the queue with forms and clipboards so they're done by the time you reach the ticket office.

Hasn't this #jft96appeal done what it was supposed to do? Or has the appeal gone down another avenue, what's it raising money for?

Sorry but can I ask what the 96p is going towards? What does it pay for? Does anyone have a handy link?

I would also like to point out that we have already had an FA cup game this season on a very significant day for a good cause this season for which we did nothing

I'm thinking of the positive publicity the club would get, wether it's per ticket, donation buckets, or donating a signed shirt. Hillsborough is news, this game is news and we need to be Good at this pr/marketing stuff

It's a Good suggestion and worthy of feedback wether positive or negative

How much did Liverpool FC pay for Henderson and Downing?

How many hundreds of millions were spent buying Liverpool FC?

How much a day does Luis Suarez earn?

What's the minimum cut Liverpool FC get from the Sky TV deal?

While well intentioned, I'm a little uncomfortable with forced charitable giving. Especially when the football club involved has obscene amounts of money going through it.

While not a charity PlayerShare earns less than £10k a year. Perhaps we should ask Liverpool fans to donate 96p each to help us strengthen our squad.

Not trying to be a miserable old git, but it doesn't feel quite right.

If it's about PR, there are, I'm sure, other ideas that could eat this.

It's not about the big, wealthy club though. It's about the families of your everyday football supporter who lost members of their family and who need money for legal costs to overturn the verdict of the original enquiry.

If the club wants good PR, It can do something. I really do not believe the 96 families do not need our cash. They will in due course be awarded bucket loads. I am so pleased they've got their justice they sort, but they didn't need our charity for that. However I would back any showing of support the club wants to give.

They won't need money. They will get plenty be assured of that.

I know. I haven't voted in the poll.

The whole Hillsborough thing affected me greatly as an ordinary football fan. The last 23+ years of bollocks that those families have had to suffer has also hit home. I couldn't be more sympathetic.

Maybe my post above is wrong. They were my initial instincts though. I don't like forced giving. Twist my arm, encourage me, wave a bucket in my face or whatever. But don't force a "donation" out of me. Doesn't feel right.

Not a chance. Remember 12 months ago????? Ask them all to pay 96p towards "KICKING RACISM OUT OF FOOTBALL"

Give them nothing, their fans were out of order last year and we should not forget that. Give them nothing but a hostile reception for the way our own was treated last year. Put ourselves first for a change, no apology go stick your 96p
