Any Door Specialists?

If you do end up replacing then I would use Dave Edwards, think they are based in Ashton but I fully vouch for him. He did us a door in our old house and has replaced both doors in my current house. I wish I had more doors so I could give him more work!

That's Dave Edwards and no, I don't work for them.

I'm flabbergasted that you replied to this with a sensible post rather than a, "back door," comment.

I nearly got a "smash back doors in" in to it but that is how highly I value the work of Dave Edwards, that's http://www.daveedwardsdoubleglazing.co.uk/ for all your double glazing and door needs. After seeing the work he did my sister and brother in law got him to fit them some new doors and windows and they too are as happy as you can be with doors and windows.

But, derailed this thread enough. If it is the locking mechanism that has gone on the door then you might have had it as some of them are quite embedded into the door. But if you want an expert opinion and are unable to find one from amongst the OWTB community you couldn't go far wrong with asking Dave Edwards.

Dave Edwards is magic

He wears a magic hat

And when he saw a portal

He gave it a cat flap

He'll realign your back door

He'll help secure your front

Dave Edwards Super Doorman

Is a fine example of a reliable trusty tradesman

That was so nearly the best :censored:ing song I have ever heard, take a downboat and work on your last lines.

If there's an issue with the locking mechanism, you could potentially try and speak to a locksmith (though Dave Edwards sounds bloody awesome).

We had one replace the lock to a sliding PVC door but they said could replace the whole mechanism if needed, rather than having to get a new door.

If you go down the locksmith route, beware of just googling them. Many of the search entries are for contact centre agents rather than for actual locksmiths. They charge a fortune and pass the work onto a sub-contractor who only gets paid part of the fee.

Instead use the Master Locksmiths Association website to find a local tradesman.

We used in ARC Locksmiths in Burnage.
