Who would you pick if you were Shez?

I feel a bit sorry for Pogs, he's very much a confidence player who when flying can be as good as anyone in the division. Sadly a few times last season we saw him press the self destruct button and finish the season in poor form.

Crossley has said all the right things since he came to us. He looks like he could be a leader both on and off the pitch. He has bags of experience but has not really had regular football in the last few seasons.

My guess is Crossley will get the nod in front of Pogs; I can't see us bringing a player in on good money to have him sat on the bench. So Crossley for me.

I do not feel sorry for Pogs one bit - he gets paid to do his job; his delicate confidence should not be costing us goals or games. If it does I am sorry Les but your a liability and do not deserve your place in the team.

Crossley has been brought in as number one and will stay there.

There cant be many non-confident aussies must there be in the world - somehow we have one of the only few as our goalkeeper.

I ddi think it was just Ronnie Moore who shot Les's confidence, and his early performances were superb, a new Les came back - one who commanded the area and came out for crosses etc - so coupled with his superb shot stopping ability he was set. However when a few things went wrong for him it was head in hands job - the game where he went off at half time was bad - i wouldnt mind it wasnt all his fault, a lot of the fault was down to his centre-halves - but he stood and took the blame , when he shud have told Gregan to f* off and pull his lazy arse together.

For me that is the reason why he shud not be our keeper, hes not a young kid who's learning his trade anymore - the time has been and gone now - he for me has had his chips at Latics.

Crossley will start IMO. But having Pogs' as back up is not a bad thing. We've finally got real back up and not just a youth player / loanee and I think that can only be a good thing for the team!

This is not even a debate is it? Shez has said crossley is our number 1....

I love pogs... but think you would be hard pushed to find any latics fan who thinks he should start between the sticks next year...

Not sure he'll just want to sit it out on the bench, he'll probably just pack his bags and go back to Oz. If he does that we'll be back to having youths / loanee's on the bench, maybe we should be on the look out for a keeper 20 - 23 years old to act as a proper deputy like Miskelly (cough) did.

There is no way we're going to bring in someone like Crossley on his wages to sit on the bench. Unless he's not on an awful lot and had stated to Shez that he was more interested in learning the coaching side. Which I doubt will be the case.

Crossley's experience puts him way ahead of Pogs. Who I think will largely have to make do with playing in the League Cup, JPT and Ressies.

think it will be crossley, but by the end of the season, pogs will be back to number one, gut feeling

Crossley will be number 1 keeper

Shez give it away by giving him the Number one shirt off

Pogs Back!!!!

21-0 in votes just hope Pogs does not see this or it

will dent him confidence even more!!!!!

Crossley will definately be the starting No.1 but at 38 I think it's unrealistic to think that he will be ever present for over 50 games during the season.

We will be very lucky if at his age he doesn't pick up any injuries atall throughout the whole of the season.

It's also important that Shez cen feel confident enough in his back up goalkeeper to be able to give Crossley a rest occasionally, it may be frustrating for Pogs on the bench but I think he will get some games during the course of the season.

i dont know why everyone is slating pogs to be honest though, yes i agree, crossley would be my number one, but in all the games pogs was in last season, he only played bad once!! people are seeming to forget that, and when he got dropped and david blain was put in net, we looked shambolic!

Have to agree, i do hope Pogs stays, as he would be a cracking back up, and i do get the feeling that Crossley may just struggle to complete a season, possibly due to injuries sustained through the year.

Either way, Crossley/Pogs are pretty good No1 options at this level.

I'm not sure Pogs will be good backup TBH. I think a lot of his problem is that he's very critical of himself (you can see it on his face if he lets a bad one in). It's anyone's guess what frame of mind he'll be in when he is called upon. I'm still puzzled as to why we let two promising youngsters go when they might have benefited from Crossley's coaching

Good points LL especiall regarding the kids - Terry Smith!??

I think if Pogs is called upon, he'll be fine - also due to Crossleys influence, i am sure he can also improve Pogs, with his experience etc.

I voted Pogs just to be controversial! :)

Agree with everyone else that Crossley will be in the sticks at the start (injury aside). i hope pogs sees this as a chance to work with a keeper who has been at the top of the game for years and who only has a one year contract as the keeper and sees his future quite naturally as a coach.

A 38 year old ex prem keeper must be seen by Les asa suitable competitor for the shirt. It's not as if we have signed an unknown on a long cotract to get rid of Les or we could have released him or put him on the list at the end of last year.

les can only benefit fromsome quality specialist keeper coaching and crossley seemed in his interviews to be very mature about how he sees the competition between them (professional). les is one of the best shot stoppers we have ever had, so let's hope his work with Crossley will improve his confidence and all rpund skills so we will have the best two keepers in the division.

Roll on the start of the season!!

I'm not sure about Crossley yet, decent keeper yes but I doubt he'll go through a full season fit. If he doiesn't turn out to be quite as good then we have a more than able deputy in Pogs.

Well said.

People should get off Pogliacomi's back... he has done an awful lot for Oldham Athletic and He loves the club to bits.

It has to be Crossley, although I still rate Pogs as one of the best in the division. If Big Les could consistently show the form he did in his first season for us, we wouldn't consider anyone else but, as we know, he's a confidence player. No matter how well he's playing, his head drops when he makes mistakes. Whilst I believe Crossley has to start as No1, his experience and coaching will bring Pogs back to his best and I wouldn't want anyone else between the sticks if Crossley is injured or rested. And am I the only one who thinks Crossley will be here longer than a year, if only in a coaching capacity?

i agree pogs still holds the record for having the most clean sheets in a season at the club, he loves the club, and i reckon will be one of the best back up keepers in division and playin in rserve football will build his confidence for when he is needed when crossley is unavailable
