  1. er, is this the same oldhamathletic.co.uk that said Joe Royle is expected to tie up his first deal with agreement reached for Shane supple (but paperwork not yet completed) only 1 day before? !! Hi Singe, I'm pretty sure the reason they did this was because the news broke first elsewhere. It only appeared on our official site after the story broke on the official Ipswich site. Can't really blame them for that.
  2. The whole thing is ridiculous. I know somebody who works in a childrens nursery. The nursery owner has been sent a letter saying if they play nursery rhyme CD's they will have to pay PRS as it is deemed to be a live performance. The world has gone mad.

  4. You're spot on about the feeling. You can see he genuinely loves the place and the people. I really can't wait for Saturday now it is going to be special.

  6. The only person who has been clutching at straws recently left BP yesterday. The 3As have made a strong business decision based on recent events and current form at the correct time. The easy decision would have been to let JS carry on until the end of the season, which would have ultimately ended in failure. We have been getting worse all season, and things off the field also appear to point to problems with JS management style. JS has stated on a number of occasions that he did not know what to do. He has publicly appeared more and more lost. If JS is appearing lost like that in interviews what is he saying to the players and directors? We'll never know obviously but if I went in to a meeting with my boss and told him that I wasn't sure why things where going badly at work I would be out of the door. The 3As are businessmen and good at what they do, they have applied the same kind of business thinking in the decision they took yesterday. To say they are clutching at straws is massively insulting to them. They took action and where definitely not clutching at straws, clutching at straws would have been leaving JS to carry on looking to find an answer he was never going to find. I feel for JS he was obviously struggling and was putting the effort in. Like so many people have said it was meant to be him that got us out of this league. We'll never know now, but I honestly believe due to recent form and recent events he didn't have it in him. I wish him success wherever he goes next. Maybe with the time he has off now he can think about what has happened and learn from what has gone on over the past few months. JS has had a very short career in management so far, the 3As between them have many years of making decisions like yesterday. They haven't got where they have today by clutching at straws, I'm sure they've made tougher decisions in the past and will make more in the future. I personally think if JS would have had half the bottle they had he would still be in a job today.

  9. Today they have made a very brave decision in sacking Sheridan. Thanks John for 10 great years of service and everything you've done as a player and manager. The directors have given JS (as far as I can see from what he has said in interviews) everything he has asked for this season player and resource wise. It started off so well, but we have been missing something all season. As the season has gone on it has become more and more apparent that that he could not fix it or did not even know what the something was. I honestly don't think he would have found a solution in the last 9 games. So on what is a sad day I have to take my hat of to the 3A's for taking such a brave decision. What has been mentioned so much on here recently is JS really struggles to change a game or gamble when behind. Well today the 3As have shown him exactly what we have been looking for in a manager. The ability to change things when the sh1t hits the fan. So who thinks they will replace a midfielder and throw on a big old fashioned centre forward for the last 10 minutes? Well done 3A's you've took a risk I really hope it pays off for us.
  10. Sorry this is really boring and not a perfect fit, but I read this last night. It just really fitted my mood last night, and how I feel about Shez as our manager. Once again, apologies if you find this boring but just thought it was worth posting... Cut Your Losses Not everything works out. No matter how hard you try. No matter what lessons you apply. Sometimes a bad job is a bad job and it's not going to get better. A bad boss is a bad boss and he is isn't going to wake up tomorrow enlightened. Sometimes the world doesn't want what you have anymore. Sometimes the best business move is to to cut your losses and move on. How do you know? You know. You may be denying it but you know. To be sure follow these steps: 1. Realise that something is wrong 2. Do something to fix it 3. Give the fix a chance to work 4. If it doesn't improve, try something else 5. Give that a chance 6. If it still doesn't improve then move on and don't look back. There are bad companies, even successful bad companies or organisations. Ernest and Julio Gallo of Gallo wineries had awful reputations as employers. Hollywood producer Scott Rudin supposedly has ripped through over 110 assistants. Helmsley Hotel were known for their leader, Leona Helmsley, "the queen of mean." U.N. Ambassador John Bolton was widely feared for his intimidation tactics. Riggs Bank CEO, Joe Allbritton, reportedly had his assistant send shoe polish to executives asking if they wanted to shine his shoes. Will any of them change? Doubtful. Their successes have convinced them of their own genius. But life may be to short to work for them. Sometimes good companies just get out of step with the marketplace. Western Union the telegram company now concentrates on financial transfers. Kodak de-emphasized conventional photography for digital pictures. Cutting your losses doesn't mean your career or your business is over. Just the losing part is over. Sony practically invented video recording with a product called BetaMax. Unfortunately the world wanted a format called VHS. Good idea, wrong execution. Eventually Sony de-emphasized Beta and started making better VHS machines than the competition. The cutting of losses will go on forever. It's business. With the ubiquity of on-line searches and databases, will we even have the Yellow Pages soon? With the exact time on each and every device we carry, who will carry wristwatches? Smart companies and smart people cut their losses and re-invent themselves or their business. If you aren't selling toy dolls and building blocks anymore, get into hand-held video games. If you're a better administrator than sales person, stop selling. If you're more of an analyst than a great copywriter, get into consumer research. When it's over, it's over. And just beginning.
  11. Got to have until the end of the season. But I cannot see anything other than a stuttering finish to the season.
  12. Well it's only taken Maher 4 or 5 games to build up enough strength to beat the first man when taking corners. Who knows with a few more games under his belt he may be able to make the back post.
  13. I was listening to talksport last week and there was a discussion about "Footballing Brains" and natural footballing ability. If I remember rightly it was after the Spain v England game and they where trying to work out if which one is more import to a footballer. Obviously it helps to have a bit of both, but I was just wondering what people on here think is more important at our level. I think that in the team we have a fair few players who are actually quite gifted ability wise but lack in the intelligence department. Could this be the problem for Sheridan? I have a great deal of respect for the guy and think some of the personal abuse offered up on here is unfair. All I would say is that he doesn't strike me as the most intelligent person. As a player he was massively gifted and talented. Is this what he is looking for in players? Are we a team full of naturally gifted players but have no intelligent players? Could that be why people are so frustrated, because they know the players can do it, but we are just too predictable. A few questions for people on here. What is more important on the pitch, brains or ability? Are there certain positions where one is more important than the other? Do you think we have a good blend of brains and ability in our current team?
  14. When Whitaker was in form at the start of the season what position where we in the league? Suddenly Maher is the creative genius in the team and look at our recent results. Whitaker played abysmally last night, but if we go in to the playoffs (which is looking increasingly unlikely) with Maher as the playmaker do you honestly believe we will be successful? As for your comment about the cr@p coming from my gob. Congratulations on stringing a sentence together. I found your post very interesting and informative.
  15. Nik that is what I can't understand. It is Shez's position where we have the problem how can he not see that? It is pretty obvious to everyone who went tonight that our problem stems from midfield. He (Shez) is making so many mistakes at the moment it laughable. Inconsistent team selection, as you've said why not pick a player who is in form? Why take of 2 strikers and replace with 2 (young and inexperienced) strikers. Why not go for it and throw an extra striker on? We are so predictable to play against. Ball to midfield, midfielder switches play to the winger, winger cuts inside and carries on running until they meet a defender. 1/ Why can't see we need a creative midfielder? 2/ If he can why hasn't he got one in? We seem to have loanees in every other position? 3/ Why doesn't he give Lee a try? Can he be any worse than Whitaker was tonight? 4/ He is not progressing as a manager his tactics are the same as they were last season and the season before.
  16. What I'm trying to say is that if we are relying on Maher to be our creative midfield player we are really in trouble. If he is classed as a creative midfielder then I know that we have got BIG problems.
  17. I've done more 'creative' cr@ps than Maher. Having said that Whitaker has been terrible recently. The lack of intelligence and creativity in the team is amazing. It is almost as bad as the bad old Uncle Ronnie days.
  18. His brain may be a million light years in front of our players, but sadly it is also a million light years away from his feet. In his head he plays the intelligent pass, but his 'fat' feet pass it somewhere else. So past it, it is embarrassing. He needs putting out to pasture.
  19. I tried to make it clear that I was not a Shez outter because that was the name of my post "why are you either Shez in or out". I read a lot on here last night where if you posted negative comments then you where automatically tagged a Shez outter. Why can't you criticise someone without wanting them sacked? As the county fan said why would you sack a manager when you are in the play off places? It just doesn't make any sense. But and it is a big but, people are losing faith in his decisions and tactics. He needs to sort it quickly in my opinion. TTA have given Shez a lot of support this season, I don't want it to go to waste. If it does go wrong this season, I can't see them giving as much next season. Oh and our fans shouldn't tell fellow fans to go and watch anyone else, including Crewe. There aren't enough of us to start with.
  20. Nez, I agree with you 110% about the personal abuse there is just no need. Lomax was getting the same stick at Hereford and I found it embarassing. It was the same bunch of muppets who were fighting amongst themselves. They really should stop playing on their playstations, get jobs and step into the real world. The booing though is another thing entirely. The boos yesterday were for the overall performance. I didn't hear too many from the Chaddy, but I didn't hear that much from the Chaddy for the majority of the game.
