  1. We have to aim for a playoff spot and anything less would in my mind be poor. Correct me if I am wrong but isnt next season number 11 in this division ? Finishing mid-table again is just not acceptable especially when the TTA have stated on many occasions that we need to get out of this division to give us a chance of paying our own way.
  2. My only complaint was that we never replaced Ricketts when he was offloaded. Looks like he is a big time Charlie but he probably couldnt care less when he takes a quick look at his bank account !
  3. The way this season has gone it is not surprising that people decided to write the season off. This season has been hit and miss for months and the odds of suddenly becoming consistent with the same bunch of players was never lilely to happen. In my mind you should direct your thoughts directly at the club and not just people on here who decided we where not going to make it, Hardy stated we wouldnt be going into the transfer market at the last chance because we had practically no chance of getting into the playoffs. I am over this season because we have had a long time to try and take in the simple fact that we have been served up hit and miss football for most of the season.
  4. Not the first player to decide to play is safe, didnt Alan Wright do the same thing to us preseason ?
  5. Oh no I have not detected the Whoosh again The Hudders chants did show once again that football fans are pretty fickle full stop.
  6. I wouldnt say the Hudds fans showed us how to support a team at all. Chants coming from the Rocky yesterday included " Ritchie out, Your getting sacked in the morning, You dont know what your doing and also booing their own players when they touched the ball and cheering the Latics players when they had it.
  7. Just to prove that Bonehead supporters exist at other footballing venues other than Boundary Park http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...own/7319038.stm
  8. When Man United put a below par performance on at Old Trafford it has been known for fans to boo them off the pitch, are we saying some players will give Fergie and co a miss incase they get a bit of stick everynow and then ? This booing and barracking buisiness has got out of hand because anyone would think it has been like this at BP since day one and it simple has not. We will always have a number of moaners no matter what but we are getting more at the moment due to this season being dissapointing compared to the last one.
  9. I think it all to little to late for this season and any moves into the transfer market should have been carried out a weeks ago. It says a lot about ambition for the current campaign when radio Manchester are reporting that Stockport and Rochdale are both actively searching to bring in new players today, Stockport probably want to cement their position in the playoffs and Rochdale must feel that even though they are only 1 point off the playoff berths they need some fresh input into the squad. I have stated in the past that the Beckett signing was like a breath of fresh air to the relegation haunted Latics a few seasons ago and the addition of a decent player at this level can make a big different but it seems after AH's words in the chron we cannot be bothered trying anymore. Roll on next season because this one is being written off by most of the fans especially when the club have now pretty much accepted defeat.
  10. Great result and I just hope it gives us the confidence to beat Huddersfield on Saturday.
  11. Problem is you dont give people any respect with your low iq quotes etc. If there opinion differs from yours you seem hell bent on trying to humiliate them rather than take onboard their opinions and see if there might be an ounce of sense in what they are writing. For the record I think the rumours about Hughes are just gossip nothing more nothing less.
  12. We are still near the playoffs because there are a lot of Naff teams in this division, in a more competitive league we would have been nowhere near the playoff spots.
  13. Problem is we have been dire for the vast majority of the season at home, didnt we go about 4 months before we grabbed another win at BP ? I imagine that even the most enthuiastic Latics fan has been on the brink of losing their rag with the team at times this season and against Millwall the stuff dished up for 75-80 minutes does nothing to get you on the edge of your seat cheering. I really am thinking that the sooner we can get this season over the better and we can put it to bed and hopefully kick on next season with a injury free squad and some new additions that we obviously need. The big disapointment for me yesterday was seeing us struggle against a poor Millwall team who ourplayed us for big parts of the game, why did we only look interested after we went 1-0 down ? Those last 10 minutes showed that when they try their hardest they can compete but going through the motions will only serve up below par football.
  14. Think it is going a bit over the top to say the lad is garbage. The goal he gave them was a shocker and it did highlight his inexperience but like others have said he did not look terrible before the disaster struck. I do agree though that we should have brought a more experienced keeper in and it is wrong that we have ended up having to play a keeper who had never played a league game before he arrived.
  15. You are seeing our youngsters though, Smalley and Alessandra have been given the chance though injuries but surely you dont expect us to throw even more kids in do you ?
  16. Rushing Thompson back was a disaster waiting to happen and provides yet more proof of a non existent transfer policy at the club. Who will be the next victim of our our penny pinching ? Probably Gregan will have to be thrown back in to soon and risk the same outcome that Thommo got today. For gods sake get some loan players in and at the least save some of out current long term injured having to come back to soon.
  17. Not bothered if Jarrett goes because he has been pretty naff since he came.
  18. Nothing will better the disaster of Goram, brilliant in his first spell here and totally embarassing in his second.
  19. I think Allot was not rated by many because in his previous time at the club he was a used as a striker.
  20. I remember John Ryan and Paul Atkinson being very good players with us first time around before they got sold off to Newcastle and Watford. Both players returned to us and they just didnt seem the same again.
  21. Liddell's legs have seen better days not and he reminds me a lot of Neil Adams when he returned to the club from Norwich. Given time and space they can deliver a good cross but if they are marked by a decent fullback they dont have the pace anymore to beat the man. I would be surprised if Shez offers another contract to Liddell and in my mind we would be better off spending the Liddell wage on a younger player.
  22. Sorry if I have offended you by signing off with my nickname, maybe Doctor Anton Phibes might not annoy you as much ? I was under the impression that messageboards operated so people could have discussions ? I am sure all Latics fans will be over the moon at the thought of paying £20+ to go and see the lads in the knowledge that we have decided to adandon this season. May I ask how do you know who Shez has tried to bring in ? Have you got a contact inside the club are do you go off the Oldham Chron for your facts because the way you talk they must be facts. Anyway toodle pip old boy and keep your pecker up!
  23. Well I will give you the answer not that you will be interested ! Its called using the loan market and replacing players that are either out of your plans fullstop or get themselves injured. Hughes has been out for 7 weeks and Ricketts went out of the equation god knows how long ago. I could understand Shez not being bothered about replacing Ricketts maybe if he was only a bit part player for us but he wasnt and you can bet your life that Shez's plans upfront involved Ricketts in a big way. 24. Yes we will be paying Hughes and co but not Ricketts who must have been on a decent deal. Also you have to be prepared to payout when injuries hit and thankfully we have a all the Trotman and Everton cash to fund this. No idea what wage Robertson was on but I cannot imagine it being anything substantial. Drphibes
