  1. someone in the main stand lower looked to have said something to RW not long after he'd just come on and was still not quite on target ... I did pick up RW telling whoever it was something along the lines of 'he's a good player' .. I didn't catch a follow on when he scored - too busy going bananas upstairs! lol
  2. Still buzzing and still hoarse from yesterday .. what a win that was! Nice to see we currently have a lucky cross bar! ... it's a shame that Fane's run was cut short because I truly believe his confidence was so high he would have taken a shot. Richie Wellens gets seemingly better and better with each game and he looks to be having the time of his life with our current run of results - that "Richie Wellens blue n white army" chant was amazingly loud from all areas yesterday! Blackburn aren't anything special, and am I the only person to wonder what we'd be like if we started the season like this? Everyone worked their socks off yesterday, Dummigan had a decent game and really got stuck in as the game progressed, particularly in the second half! Midfield were awesome and worked for each other ... I hope Gardner isn't too bad today, that 'frustrated hack' was typical of players who thought they were on a certainty only for them to be taught a lesson! Davies was immense in the support role for others, look at that pass through to Menig for instance .. Simply put, I don't care how hoarse I am today .. how sore the gash in my shin from the seats in front of me ... jumping for joy like that with my season card mates around me and the people on the other side of the aisle is worth every bit of it .. Roll on Tuesday .. I said it after his first game, we could potentially make the biggest mistake for years if we pass RW by and bring someone else in ... he simply HAS to be involved at the highest level
  3. shame he got hacked down when on that run .. I was having flash backs of Dave Beharell when the ball stuck to his boot till it ended up in the net ... Fane deserved a shot simply for the sheer effort he puts in!
  4. didn't Tony Carrs do something like that at one time or another?
  5. Still Wellens for me, even though it's only 3 from 3, it's a damn sight better than what most have served up for a number of years and dare I say it enjoying to watch! As far as Scholes coming in, no thanks! He seemingly didn't want to know last time around when we actually needed him and let's face it, his playing career means absolutely cock all ... it worked out well with Graeme Sharp didn't it? What a player can/did do doesn't always transfer over ... Richie Wellens has showed he knows what to do! ps .. I'll meet him half way, Scholes can assist RW! lol
  6. how can you work for less than nothing? or will he pay for the 'privilege' ha ha
  7. did he ever play in the same team as RW? .. Would be a good appointment if he's a coach in the same guise as a player!
  8. The thing with trams is they take their power from the roof so that might be a little tricky ... but, It'd only need to go through certain areas enough times to have no windows left so it's 'possible' lol In fact there's also at least 2 drivers that I'm aware of that are Latics fans, so with three of us driving it's easily done ha ha Trams aside, working in the industry you find a few let's say 'enthusiasts' lol and one or two are even into buses, and from i can gather they're the people that 'own' (or know the owners) of the old style Orange/Brown GM Buses open toppers ... so it seems anything is possible ha ha
  9. wasn't it March last time around? it gets earlier and earlier each season .. hopefully this time it'll be AFTER the season finishes lol
  10. IF that was the case, his initial success as team manager may mean that someone could come in with an attractive offer and we lose him that way - never mind another manager coming in!
  11. I think that would be an ideal situation if someone has already been earmarked for the job! The energy, commitment and passion in his press conferences shine through and it's extremely refreshing to hear if not a little addictive! I said it earlier last week that it would be a shame if we passed him by in whatever sense, because as much as there may be an element of beginners luck .. he's certainly hit the ground running - or should that be climbing lol
  12. It will be interesting to see how many squad players who feature actually get on ... With the current 'tempo' you'd have thought a fringe player would give their all to stake a claim to RW and whoever that they're 'playable' ... would be nice to forget what the competition is about and absolutely hammer someone, without the usual finger nail biting towards full time. I'm IN
  13. I'm certainly not trying to rubbish any of this CS stuff, but as usual some things don't add up ... so Could it have been possible that he was in the North West simply to watch some European football? Everton were at home on Thursday and City Tuesday night. Maybe, just maybe, in converstion somewhere someone found this out and the 'visit' to both the club and to Simons gaff were arranged? A little far fetched I know, but let's face it, being a fan gets a little more bizarre by the day!!
  14. I can't stop thinking that what if, FINALLY we've unearthed a gem of a manager and we'll miss out because he won't be given a chance because they've already got an idea who they want in? I know Tuesday was only 1 game, but unless he's given a fair run we'll never know!
  15. <500 .. lots will be dreading coming to ISZ knowing we're about to truly destroy someone! nothing is better than being near the bottom and knocking the top team off their perch whilst climbing up the table a few places ha ha ha
  16. or Shez is given a target to aim for whilst laddo looks after the influx of players into the reserve/development team - with an eye to putting him in IF Shez doesn't reach his target (however far fetched that may be!)?
  17. Personally speaking, it's a difficult situation to find ourselves in. On one hand, I think I'd happily sit back and let this guy pump money into the club, and help us try to stop this L1 hiatus that we have got ourselves in. On the other hand, throwing unknown players at us is a little unnerving, yeah there could be a few gems in amongst them, but I would have thought others would also be aware of them - he is their agent after all! As far as managers go, Shez is a bit of a mixed bag if you ask me. He knows this league and us, but it would appear that he could implode when things aren't going right! .. by that I mean him upping sticks to NC and the barny he had with the ref and his employer resulting in his sacking - the bonus of that being he came back to us! .. As far as a 'new' manager goes, there's plenty of 'names' kicking around who've proven they haven't quite matched up to their playing reputation .. and that's the difficult bit for me! .. Shez DOES work wonders, Shez does have our faith (mostly!) and the football HAS improved in the last couple of games - i think we would have won both if it wasn't for the worlds worst referee and mistakes caused by panic and inexperience! .. So, for me ... i think as long as laddo isn't wanting to play around with our club and pretend he's some wannabe Abramovich, I believe we should trust in Shez! .. the team as it is, knows him and knows what he wants, any newbies will be no different with him than any other manager .. a new manager will start afresh with them ALL .. and that for me isn't the right thing - we simply haven't got time for that, September or not! As far as the Man City thing goes .. well, why not, our club has history, I've yet to call the ground by it's 'official' name and never will do! Whoever has their name on it, it will always be Boundary Park - or my personal favourite Ice Station Zebra! History has been made, it is what it is, we shouldn't be afraid of a new chapter - the last few chapters have been pretty mind numbing to say the least. It's laddo's money (and trialists) for me, Shez in the driving seat (to prove to them he CAN do it!) and if that involves City then I'm cool with that too ...
  18. ... this is bringing back memories of Christian Collusso trying to 'warm up' at ISZ mid February at a night match whilst the sleet n hail came in sideways! .. these lads are gonna love it!!! ha ha
  19. is that the one where all the 'ladies' have a pint in front of them? ha ha ha ain't oldham great! .. just not so much without our 'chron'
  20. Shame that we've lost something so local and probably a paper we've all read, delivered or even been in - if not all 3! so here goes, how many of us can rememeber featuring in it? could be anything, even some dodgy court appearance ha ha .. moi! .. a few times, once at junior school, a couple of times as a member of Royton ATC and more recently as i was the first person in the queue for Liverpool FA Cup tickets (I'd just finsihed a night shift so why not I thought!!) .. anyone want to add to the mix?
  21. me neither! .. makes you wonder if he's been bound confidentiality wise to some degree ..
  22. Shez mentioned on GMR that they had injuries from yesterday afternoon and this morning! .. how much of that is true i don't know ... but that's what the man said.
  23. .. I'm sure I've read on here that there's some silly 'rules' that are tagged into loans etc ( iirc i read that some clubs insist that a player plays all the time or the club has to pay double the wage??) .. anways .. maybe when he signed his new contract at 'boro and was allowed out on loan, it was on the proviso he only went to a championship club? .. and Burton were the only ones seemingly interested! the downside for him is that he has to fight for a place, not guaranteed like it would have been for us!
  24. just gonna throw something into the mix here .. (iirc it was a couple if days before the Oxford game) I was walking past the training pitch (additionally, what happened to them training again at Chapel Road?) at ISZ and stopped for at short while to watch them training. Eventually i got talking to TW and said the usual stuff like I'm looking forward to the seaaon kick off, team lools good blah blah blah .. He mentioned that we still needed 2 or 3 players etc ( nothing new there eh?) but then came out with the comment .. " It's the wrong season!" .. That I have been trying to figure out ever since .. anyone have an idea what he may have meant by that?
