  1. It would be such a revenue stream, and would also be used for training I would have thought!
  2. Said it numerous times on this forum, that if AL is looking at Carrington (assuming we're not sharing them with Bury/can afford to outbid them) there's more to the package than simply using it for training .... for instance, I'm led to believe that whoever leases it can 'sub rent' it out to teams playing our local Premier League clubs which would include European teams playing in the Champions League etc to bump up income to the club! Also, it's worth bearing in mind that Little Wembley's days are numbered as phase 3 of the new houses will be built on it ... but I've no idea how good the facilities are at Chapel Road? That said, and this would be my preference for so many reasons .. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/sport/football/862773/EFL-League-One-League-Two-Artificial-Pitches/amp We could be going to a more equal system (pitch wise) .. Who knows what the end of the season brings ..
  3. they won't be back! .. and if a few do, UNLESS we win, they've got a ready made reason why not to!
  4. yup! .. and then promptly went back to his own goal mouth and cleared one almost off the line ..
  5. I predict HEAVY rain all day, then around half 4 it'll go dark! Nothing else of any note
  6. do we really think that many more people will attend? IF it's a ruse, then I'd say the gamble for 3 points is worth more in the short term!
  7. That's what I did 20 years ago when I left the RAF! .. bought tickets in each stand over several weeks until i found my 'ideal' seat ... I've been in it ever since - half way line in the Main Stand upper with added bonus of being on the end of the aisle! .. bonus fact, every other row has more leg room! (even numbers have extra)
  8. .. if this idea progresses beyond its initial few games, and therefore would be looking for some sort of 'identity' with regards to flags/scarves etc then would it be worth asking informing the German lads to maybe have a 'corner' in there for when they come cover?
  9. I've just walked past it with the dog, looks a decent sized space (assuming it's the 2 x double set of doors between the gym and OEC entrance?) and hopefully it'll bring back atmospheres akin to those in the Clayton Arms back in the day! Great idea if you ask me!
  10. at least it won't be the scraps left like pre season before last!
  11. RW has alluded to that twice in his last press conference! .. he says that players are noticing how the team plays and they are calling him asking to play for us! That could bode well in January irrespective of any money coming I think.
  12. .. he's pretty much developed from what was effectively a walking red card to an intergral, dare I say automatic choice, part of our team! he's seemingly not scared of anything or anyone .. but what a day that would be if he manages to get a goal - certainly nothing more than he rightly deserves! That would be great to see ..
  13. snowing now at Ice Station Zebra! although as of 09:45 it's stopped!
  14. All I can say is that Claytons appears soft as Pogs is on there doing his keeper training with some young lad and Barry the steward was in there with Cyril the Greyhound half n hour ago and said it was soft also. I'd probably say that Claytons would cop it more than the pitch itself, but what do I know lol I'm not sure how much they take the local streets/paths into consideration though as they're pretty iced up in places! Can't say whether to set off or not, but i feel your concern as I've also booked a day off work for this .. Hope this helps mate
  15. yeah, exactly my idea ha ha .. a smile and a laugh is always a great way to remember someone don't you think! lol
  16. ... so touching to see the picture that Luke has posted today. I think we've all got a story or experience of Gordon - or Mr Lawton as I've always called him whenever we spoke. He'd be truly skipping around the club with delight at how Richie & co have been doing, and how in my opinion we're beginning to see that 'spark' of old return to our club. We've all got favourite players, old and new ... but Mr Lawton was a true Oldham Athletic legend, respected, liked and loved by everyone! Sleep well big man .. and keep an eye on us because the magic is coming back!
  17. .... and if anyone should of pulled the trigger, it was him! he'd already done all of the hard work getting to that point. A goal would be a massive confidence boost - and a very worthy reward for all his hard work.
  18. whoever he is, he's been here for a few weeks now!
  19. I was thinking about when he's coming back myself earlier ... I know he's been seriously ill, and still a young prospect, but i wonder how he'll get on with the new regime and how others have started to play with confidence. What a squad that would be with Doyle n Davies starting and Duffus waiting in the wings to finish teams off with fast attacking pace (assuming we can get the best from him) .. Only time will tell ..
  20. at work unfortunately .. . just signed up for this, what's with the 'rights' and not being able to watch the game?
  21. I meant in the sense that how would games have ended up with the team we have now .. I think we'd be sitting pretty up the top really looking back at the teams we played .. Burton certainly wouldn't have been a problem, neither Blackpool or Charlton! Wigan? well maybe .. but we would be on steamroller of a start I reckon! pipe dream I know ... but the worlds full of 'what ifs'
