  1. I think its 16 acres. The way we're wanting to redevelop the club with cinemas, restraunts etc... then both would be too small.
  2. Yep I agree with this. I saw him play about 4 games in centre mid and to me they were his best performances for the club. he never had great positional sence which is why he got cought out a few times at right back but he couldn't half tackle. Also if you gave him time with the ball at his feet which he got quite a lot of when at full back, he would constanly try and hit as far as he could and it usually ended up in the main stand or lookers whereas when he was in midfield he tended to seem calmer and was suprisingly very accurate with his passing.
  3. Always wanted to go out at the 1st chance. But after how Penney did it with such convincing style in all 3 cup competitions and having nothing to shout about in the league i'll gladly take a trip out to wembley this season no matter what competition its in.
  4. Certain managers speak crap when there under pressure as Short is at the min. We had it with Penney last season with the 'couldn't give a monkeys' line which basically ended any chance he had with the fans. Ronnie came out with the classic 'we should be coming to places like this and winning' - against that seasons champions. Basically they will try and show everyone and anyone who will listen that they have the authority and ability to sort it out, in 2 of the 3 examples they failed and i'll guarentee it will be 3 by some point before xmas. I'm not really bothered what Short, Notts fans or anyone else from another club thinks about us. as long as we can see the commitment and improvement i'll be my own judge.
  5. Yes but he has missed the majority of pre-season so he's going to be miles behind the rest, in terms of fitness so he's going to be playing catch up for a while. Plus didnt he play a large part of last season carrying injury? Theres only so much his body is going to be able to take plus this year we have a manager who believes we need more than 2 centre backs to get us through the season so if he isn't fully fit or injured he won't be playing where as last season we had no choice.
  6. The ref admitted he got it wrong after the match aswell! the linesman thought the winger had touched it onto the striker but he didn't and the ref only realised after he had blown up!
  7. Abbott up untill his operation was quallity and was the sole reason we were clear of the bottom 4. but he then had 4 months of football to get himself fit and carry on his form from before his op but never came close to doing so. He was constantly knackered after 20 minutes each game and as he had nothing left he kept trying tricks and flicks which very rearly came off. I blame Penney for this to an extent as his signings barring a few lacked quality to take the pressure of Pav and his failure to find a decent strike partner for him was shambolic. But Pav apart from a few goals looked very poor from January onwards with no signs of returning to any kind of form, and was as bad as any other player that let us down last season. A very average Lewis Guy came in and shone over pav during his loan spell. That said I was happy to have him in the team this season and thought with Feeney besides him he may well show us the Abbott we saw early last season. But Dickov thinks he has enough with the strikers he got plus the 1 coming in and to be fair he has to be able to shape his own team and if some players don't feature in it, then so be it. I also don't think Abbott has done himself any favours with his lack of fitness during the friendlies so far. Anyway good luck Pav.
  8. It was reported as an undisclosed fee. The chron said it was 60k i think. The fact we paid a fee for him at all is shocking enough. terible player but not his fault that Penney signed him. good luck in the future.
  9. Absolute farce today. And the 64 grand fine shows yet more favouritism towards Ferrari. had it been Mclaren they would of had the book thrown at them.
  10. I think your spot on with them 9 prozac. If Taylors fit then I think he will start, going of what was said at the fans forum. if not then Lewis will and I reckon Brooke will start with Feeney. Abbott has looked poor and unfit so far in the 3 games i've seen him play.
  11. He was terrible in the cup game at bp last year and we hardly had a shot which says a lot!
  12. Highlight of the season- Roger Palmer Legend closely followed by Penney off Lowpoint- Penney getting the job
  13. Same here. I hope if they do bring Bunn in then its because their impressed with his ideas and that they believe he can take us forward rather than just bringing in a fans favourite.
  14. The correct decision has been made in my eyes. The man produced the worst football I have seen in my time supporting Latics, even the team of Salt, Innnes and Rickers was much more entertaining that the :censored: we have had to endure this season. Add to the fact that this is the poorest standard league 1 since we came down in 97 it didn't bode well for the man. I wanted him out since Wycombe away when his negativity cost us the 3 points. He had plenty of times to get the fans on his side with the amount of teams who were there for the taking but time and time again he would take a forward off and tell the players to head for the corner flag with 10 minutes to go, in some cases being 2 goals clear aswell. Stockport away was probably the worst performance I have ever witnessed in my time supporting Latics he refused to take the game to a team, who quite frankly, are a mess. We should of been soundly beaten had it not been for 3 or 4 class saves from Flahavan. Yeovil was the last straw for me he sent a team out there to get a 0-0 and then at 1-0 down was quite happy to defend it. Never mind that half the players didn't give a toss about the game and were probably already looking forward to their hols etc. He made some terrible signings Brill, Goodwin Colbeck and Furman to name some and the last 2 having cost a combined £100k!! I think only really Abbott and :censored: ( and he ended up dropping :censored: over a stupid xmas fight) were a success, although I did like the look of Holdsworth before he got injured and Guy did well and scored a few vital goals. But on the whole his signings were very poor. Defensivly we were sound enough but we should be when we always had 6 men back. I can appreciate the art of defending but I would also appreciate seeng the art of attacking every now and again, I dont expect us to be world beaters but as a force going forward this season we have been emmbarrasing to say the least. Saying that I was expecting to have to put up with him next season (to start with at least) so I applaud the owners for taking this decision.
  15. I hope this is true. he has ability but shows it for a 20-25 minute spell every 10 games or so. I fear though that if Penney is in charge next season he would resign him judging by how many games he's featured in for him which would be a shame.
  16. I assume the defensive substitution we're on about os Worthy on for Goodwin? Well in that case I would say Ball retention would of been the last thing on Penney's mind as Worthingtons passing and football abillity is amongst the poorest level in our division. He is the sort of player you bring on if the opposition are getting too much time on the ball and you want someone to go in and ruffle a few feathers or if your winning and want to add a bit more steel into the midfield. Penney has constanly proved that he prefers to keep things tight, even when were getting beat and only on a few occasions have we ever really gone for a goal. If you look at his tactics in many home games subs have mainly been like for like or defensive minded. His negative nature has cost us a fair few points aswell (Wycombe against 10 men and Southend against 10 men and 2 who could barely stand instantly spring to mind) Add that to some strange subs such as Hartlepool away by confusing every member of midfield and attack at where they were all suppose to be playing and Saturday by playing Whitts at right back (probably the weakest player in proffesional football never mind his lack of defensive awereness) makes you wonder if he really knows what he wants from his own team at times. I'm not one for sacking managers as you then have to rebuild but this has been a wasted season and we will have to rebuild whether Penney is here are not as many of his signings have failed with great conviction. Anyway its an important decision the TTA have to make in the summer they either stick by their man and drive away a few more fans and suffer yet more losses or they admit they got it wrong and sack him resulting in a payoff but instantly start getting the fans back (that alone won't be enough to bring all of them back on board but it will go a long way in my opinion)
  17. I thought u was a 'penney in Lee'?
  18. Absolutely spot on. Never seen a performance like it. Playing an unfit loanee was shocking. As much as Im not a fan of Worthington he is our player and he's fit so play him instead. Why he took :censored: off I don't know (his reaction to the substitution pretty much says he won't be playing on sat against Charlton or I would be suprised if he was) Goodwin was so far off the pace it was unreal. Whitts at right back? Their winger must of thought his wish had come true when that happened. Abbott was again knackered after 25 mins not sure if he was fit after last week but Brooke should of been given the start if he wasn't. They wern't very good but again we have been soundly beaten by a team who realised we were there for the taking something that we have failed to do all season. I'v not been fooled over the recent results and have maintained that Penney should still go despite his 'achievment' of keeping us up in the worst standard league 1 we have seen in a long while. Oh and it wasn't a meaningless game as there is no such thing in professional football there was enough fans who could be bothered making the long trip down so the players and manager should be bothered about it aswell. I can't wait till saturday is over as we're gonna get d***ed by Charlton to end a pathetic season.
  19. I hope he won't be here as I can only see the same dull, uninspiring football that we have had to watch this season. But I think I expect to see him as our manager next season rather than someone else. If he is then he is going to have to produce a miracle to still be here beyond his current contract as he will have a lot of his players who have failed to produce under contract and a much smaller playing budget by the sounds of it.
  20. In my opinion we need to release Whitaker, no where near good enough for this level he is capable of a great goal like yesterday but only once every ten games or so the other 9 he is usually s***. Aljofree was only brought in for cover so I expect him gone unless he comes cheap and fills the same role. Parker is as good as gone. I would also get rid of Brill, Colbeck and 1 of Furman and Worthington if anyone is silly enough to take over their contracts. Brill isn't as bad as people make out but we can do better, Colbeck is just a poor player for a league 1 team to have. Furman and Worthington are ok but offer us pretty much the same thing - effort but a lack of quality. I'd also get rid of Allesandra. He's a good player but he just hasn't Progressed as we thought he might do not sure on his contact situation though. I would definitly retain Lee was not a fan of his but his last 15 games or so he has been class. Flahavan if he is within budget. a very good keeper for this level. I would love to keep :censored: next year but i don't think that will happen. Guy has done well since coming in so I'd be happy with him staying.
  21. 2-0 or 3-0 hudders. My guess is we go 4-5-1 and he drops Worthington and Millar and brings back Furman and Whitts in and plays Guy on the right.
  22. Because Penney was free to walk out on his contract at Darlington so no compo needed. Gannon was still at Stockport when Penney was announced Robins would also of cost compensation. Adams was free but who knows if we was interested?
