  1. Absolutely. This board has been read and it wreaks of appeasement. IF the 'plan' worked, fair play. It is just words though and reads as an attempt to buy as much time as possible. In fairness, Corney got 10/15 years until there any ere serious rumblings (from the majority). On the face of it, it seems like Abdallah has taken on as much of a burden. People aren't going to be as patient this time.
  2. That's what I assumed. It looks as though this board has been read and all bases have attempted to be covered. 'Give us another year and we'll come back to you then'. It's a polished statement, like the others.
  3. I'd we'd have looked at appointing Sol a year ago, I'd have thought it was a laughable appointment. A year later and a good job done at Macc, it's probably a bit of a coup (in terms of where we're at). He's a bit of an oddball but we could do worse.
  4. Probably a similar age. I was 8 and sat behind the hoardings in the Chaddy (as I always did). A memory that will live with me forever and probably the main reason I've still a love for the club.
  5. They won it in 91/92. 92/93 was the first Premier League.
  6. Sure Leeds and Southampton were both in the division above us in 91... Bang on otherwise.

  8. Maybe. He's a (comparatively) rich man though. I just don't buy that someone who's done as well as him is as naive as he's painting himself out to be. Seems like he's buying time and there's got to be something in it for him. It was clear with the 'TTA'... Land/property was the aim. I assumed, given there was no property with Abdallah's purchase, his aim was to buy players cheap and sell for more (seemed logical and signings supported it). If that was the plan, he's not even following that through which makes me think there's an ulterior motive. What's in it for him?
  9. Had enough time now. The Corney shenanigans probably bought him more than it should, from my point of view. It's now clearly evident that his intentions (whatever the fuck they are) aren't there for the benefit of Latics. There's something underhand going on and he must be benefitting from this shit show somehow.
  10. We put out a 'Latics XI' against Salford about 3 years ago. A travesty to think we'll probably play them in a league fixture next season.
  11. Not unfeasible at all. Think a win with an Ipswich loss and a 2 goal swing would've done it. Remember listening on GMR and my old man fretting that we didn't get tickets when we went 1 up. Fuckin Hughes!
  12. Probably beyond my technical capabilities. Probably watch the arrows on 365. Happy trekking.
  13. Think that night was the first time we wore that Bovis tangerine kit an all.
  14. I watched a documentary about Chester City on YouTube last night (rock and roll innit). It's called 'An American dream' and well worth a watch. It's from their '99 relegation season and there are similarities in the apparent egomaniacal of their then owner and ours. Scary.
  15. The worst of it will kick in tomorrow I reckon
  16. We could conceivably make the play-offs. How the fuck, I don't know.
  17. Wow. I'm sure someone has got in here before me, but, without reading the rest of the thread, wow.
