  1. I've gone from saying we could go down, to saying we're going to win the league. But then, I am fickle, so it's to be expected.
  2. I think lJ is more similar to Tom Taiwo myself...
  3. Minging. The first is bad enough, but the :censored:bag 2nd when he'd poleaxed on the deck is minging. Throw the book at him for the cheap 2nd shot
  4. I didnt see it at the game, but it definately deflects doesn't it? I mean, take nothing away from the shot - but it does take a nick on the way in. Dieng is caught out for their goal unfortunately isnt he?
  5. I agree; the jump to Championship regular might be too much to bridge at the moment.....but Championship clubs might well view him as a work in progress signing and risk worth taking? Ability wise; there's no question he has the talent. What i would say though, is he needs to have an effect on games more frequently. I mean, he looks so classy in possesion; and some of his turns and little touches are lovely. But - and here's the crucial thing for him (& us) - how many goals and how many assists has he got so far; to go with the nice but non-benefical little touches? He set up the winner in the JPT vs Bradford for Bove right? Other than that, has he directly assisted another goal? He certainly hasnt scored since pre-season? For me; Dele Ali at MK Dons is showing the way a young midfield player draws attention and earns a move from League One. Goals, assists & real; tangible effects on games. Carl has a little bit more to do in that regard for me. Not a pop at him this post, far from it. He can clearly do it, there's a real player in there.
  6. As 5th choice CB, he'll do for me!!!! I mean, he's by no means a world beater; but i'm not sure that's even his real position; isnt he a central midfielder usually if given a choice? I said at the game, it's nice to have 2 CB's playing that are so comfortable on the ball. When Lockwood & Kusunga play, that's not the case. Both of them are far better CB defenders than Dieng is currently; but he's a 'better footballer' than them i'd say. I mean its James Wilson and George Elekobi all day long as the best partnership at CB for me, with Lockwood, then Kusunga and then Dieng. To have 5 very capable CB's at the club, we've done very; very well indeed. With Lockwood, Elekobi out injured and Kusunga fecking off on International duty; it's a good job too. As a stand in, when needed, Dieng is more than fine. And - if Kelly and Tidser arent available, Dieng wouldnt let us down at CM either by the looks of it. A decent squad player i'd say...
  7. Lennon played, but then shipped out on loan Tony Watt up at Celtic. Gave youth a chance; but then decided against it in this case. Might bode well that, in terms of getting Wilkinson back on loan again. I'd expect 2 or 3 current Celtic players to be at Bolton as the Jan widow closes too...
  8. Oh -and i should add; that if we do have to sell a Baxter, Smith, Tarky or JCH to keep the club running and solvent; then its a small price to pay. Better to have the club afloat but down a decent player; than in admin with said player still playing for us i'd say?
  9. It could be that up to 2 or 3 will be gone, if previous seasons are anything to go by? It's all conjecture ATM, until something comes out about scouts from X club are watching Y player. Though, on current performances and potential shown to date; any of the following could easily be cashed in on: Carl Winchester Danny Philliskirk James Wilson Mike Jones George Elekobi Johnathan Forte If i were a betting man, i'd say Winchester would be the one. He had a stormer vs Hudds in pre-season, and it wouldnt surprise me if they have been watching him since...
  10. Yep, Jones and Winchester were narrow, and Kelly sat in the holding role. Think it was a 3 man midfield with Philly in front of them. Whatever it was though, it worked!
  11. Its a cliche; but next week is a good acid test. Paul Cook has been given a decent budget and he's used it very well, and Chesterfield are a bery decent side. Gain a positive result from next Saturday and we can tick off another test passed. It'll be a good gauge to where we are. Positive signs, but a couple of real 'marker' games coming up will really see where we are...
  12. Big shout that, and i'm not so sure it's correct either. We do tend to go down the 'he wasnt that good anyway' route when players leave us. In Tarky's case, now he's no longer here and we can't watch him every week, it's maybe easy to forget just how well he had developed. Forget the missed penalty - that's not really his game and he shouldnt be judged on that - have a quick scan of the match ratings for Brentford and also their message board, he's doing really well in a higher division. James Wilson is a very good player, one of our better ones actually. But as a direct comparison to Tarky? Difficult, but i'd still take Tarky over him every time. Tarky will IMO grace the Premiership, i'm not so sure Wilson will...
  13. Looks a real player does Jones. A very good athlete, with a cracking engine. Quick feet, a very assured touch, decent vision & good passing range, good set piece delivery and now a goal to go with that. However, Liam Kelly should also not be missed out in this either. Unsung is our captain. He started poorly, but as his game time has increased; so too have the standard of his performances. He does so much work off the ball, and when he does have it, he ticks us over nicely. He reads play really well and is a very unselfish player. He's an 'under the radar' type; as alot of his work isn't flair or showey, but he's allowing Mike Jones to fully use his talents. Its a very impressive partnership and long may it continue.
  14. Some more decent stuff played again today. We gifted them a goal - a poor one to ship too; Route One ball up field and it shouldnt really have been allowed, a big gap between J Wilson and Dieng. Whilst we doing Ok; we are missing Big George or Lockwood for their influence and organisation. But, loads of positives: Mills is now officially back (!) we've got the loan version back again instead of poor early season version. B Wilson is Mr Consistency at RB and looks a cracking piece of transfer business. Mike Jones and Liam Kelly have formed a really effective partnership; and when Jones went out wide, he looked equally good too. Winchester also played well, dovetailing between wide and central. Danny Philliskirk is also back, similar to Mills, we're now seeing the first class version and not the out of sorts and low on confidence version. His link play, his pressing and his overall game we're spot on today, a close runner for my MOTM. Pleased Connor Wilkinson signed off with a goal; he's got better and better as he's played, and i'd like us to explore the possibility of re-signing him again come January. A good win, and the unbeaten run continues. The feel-good factor starting to really kick on, and the side looks a completely different proposition to the one that started the season. LJ, TW & their team do need a huge amount praise for turning it around, the tactics are really starting to reap rewards. Long may it continue
  15. Wow. That's actually pretty shocking. Then I saw it's from Indiana, and really shouldn't have been that shocked. Both officers involved already have cases pending for Excessive Force. The phone footage is pretty damming evidence though; I don't see how either of them will be able to keep their jobs after that; and rightly so.
  16. Ha! It's a marathon, not a sprint - league positions get decided in May last time I checked.....!! Boding well so far for you though from the looks of it mind....
  17. Dieng to obviously keep his place. Other than that, it'll be rightly back to the side that's served us pretty well so far: so Forte, Kelly and Winchester come back in, for Dayton, Tidser and; i would say Philliskirk* Think LJ will be tempted to keep Wilkinson and Poleon together for 1 more game; with Jabo coming off the bench * i wouldnt drop Danny P myself; he's coming into form and looking back to last season's version. But LJ has shown that when a player needs to be left out, or moved to a different position, its usually been Philliskirk. I'd expect that to continue here IMO...
  18. What you said last. Signed a hit & runner, then go and sign a rapist. We'd be in the news all over again... We :censored:ed up with Hughes for sure; and i wouldnt want that again with Evans. How do you compare which is the worse crime? Its impossible really. Both are diplorable human beings for what they've done; but how do you rank them? Is a hit & run whilst under the influence worse than raping an past-out young lady? It's not minging human being top trumps. Look how much debate this thread has triggered already. Imagine signing him and seeing the posts then...
  19. He was starting to look decent - Tuesday he was a threat, and played well. That said, if we were still playing that game now, he still wouldn't have scored. There's always scope for a return in January, once Bolton's new man has had time to assess his full squad.
  20. Just been emailing my mates on this and said the same thing. Maybe he'll chip in with a few goals, bonus if he does. But, he's a player who causes problems, takes up and keeps both CB's interested and by either a direct pass or knock-down; or by engaging and drawing away players; creates chances for his teammates. This should open up more chances for Forte and Poleon to use their pace and get through on goal.* .* in thoery!!!!!
